  • The Kia XCeed has just had a proper makeover for 2023 & there's a new trim level available too. The entry-level car starts at just £22,995, and the top trim, or kitchen sink level as I like to call it, starting around £30,000, making the new Kia XCeed amazing value for money.
The Kia XCeed is the car you buy if a standard hatchback doesn't really do it for you, however, you don't want the extra cost, performance and efficiency compromises of a bigger, heavier SUV.
The XCeed has been one of Kia’s best-selling models in the UK since its launch back in 2019 and the new facelifted models changes will definitely build on this popular package by making it more eco-friendly, more eye-catching, and much more luxurious.
The first noticeable difference is the exterior. The new XCeed is definitely a more urban, rugged compact crossover, featuring some new LED headlights, a revised front grille, giving it a more sportier stance from the front, and some larger 18'' alloys. The car sits 44mm higher than a standard Kia Ceed, which means you get more ground clearance, which is especially good for the occasional muddy car park. There are seven different colours to choose from, red is included with the price with other colours costing from £595 extra. The new interior benefits from the extra ground clearance we mentioned as you will get a better driving position and better views over the road for both the passenger and the driver.
For the tekkies amongst you, major changes include the 10.5-inch touchscreen with touch-sensitive buttons underneath for audio, heating and aircon and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster also comes with updated graphics. Practicality is also improved with a 426-litre boot, with a maximum capacity of 1,378 litres when the rear seats are folded down. The seats also fold down in a handy 40:20:40 split, which is great for storing bulky items, while the boot floor can be adjusted to give you access to a hidden storage compartment underneath.
Kia gives you two petrol engines to choose from, including a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version. Theres a 1.5 Litre that develops 160bhp which comes with either a six speed manual or a seven speed auto gearbox. The XCeed’s other engine option, which comes with a seven speed auto gearbox and only available on higher trim levels, is the 1.6-litre PHEV plug-in hybrid. It’s slightly slower than the 1.5 petrol, but when its petrol engine and electric motor join forces, performance is very good. In all-electric mode the car will give up to 30 miles of pure electric driving.
When it comes to safety, Kia has now started fitting more advanced automatic emergency braking (AEB) to all XCeeds, rather than just top-of-the-range 3 trim cars, so the latest XCeed gets the full five-star NCAP rating. All models also have lane-keeping assistance, a driver attention alert system and traffic-sign recognition, while top GT-Line S trim getting the blind-spot monitoring system.

I bought a MK3 Ceed Gt-line 1.0t as an emergency purchase after my Audi A4 Avant broke down and was waiting for parts. I was so impressed that once the Audi was repaired, some 7 months later, that I kept the Kia and sold the Audi! Since then I bought a MK3 Ceed Sportwagon 1.4t First Edition with every extra that Kia has available for the model. It's a brilliant car that is better built than the many German cars that I have owned over the last 16 years

Had my second hand Xceed (two years old) with all the trimmings for nearly three weeks now. I do about 200 miles a week on back roads and motorways and it's a joy to ride in. Prefer the old look but it's the same great car. Surprised at the grip and smoothness. You didn't mention the auto park and ventilated seats but they're there! Found the seat comfort fine but change position from time to time. Also love the auto hold which makes city driving easier. Very agile but a bit too big to call nippy. VERY responsive on the motorway. Premium feel you'd expect from a Merc. Averages out at about 45mpg. Great car!!

I’m picking up a 73 plate Xceed in the GT line next week; and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel. The review posted was really helpful in my decision to buy one - thank you.

I've been enjoying the PHEV version of the Xceed for one year now. Perfect for my usage...
Got a streak of over 3000km with a single tank, then used the hybrid system for the 1000km trips holidays
The car feels much more like a hatch than a big SUV, punchy agile and easy to park.
They are really rare in France compared to the Miro so it feels like driving an exotic car

@@briansheridan6915 Hi. Had my XCeed GT line S over a year now. Had no problems. I love it. Not to big so my wife’s happy to drive it. I would highly recommend.
I bought an ex demo with 2000 miles. Excellent condition. Roughly about £5000 less than brand new. Good luck

Hi, I got one recently. Took less than 12 weeks from order to delivery (in Europe). Went for the GT line with all the extras. I love it, so easy and fun to drive and some nice touches with the electric and heated seats and the driving assistance additions. I recommend it for the value for money and price point.

I'm the proud owner of a 2020 Xceed 1.4 manual First edition in the Yellow colour. The car has everything you could possibly need including a spare wheel which came with the car.The 1.4 has plenty of power and is smooth as silk but me being me,mate owns a rolling road for tuning purposes it now makes 171 bhp,I don't use the power but it's nice to have it if you feel like a bit of a dash. The only criticism I had with the car was awful road noise from the fitted as standard Conti 5'S tyres,I could only stand this up to 5500 miles.Fitted new Goodyear Asymetric 6, tyres, the road noise has all but gone, the car now handles much better though it wasn't bad in the first place.I can't see in the near future getting rid of car it's so good and still looks like new.

I'm the owner of the Ceed saloon. I've got a few minor niggles. For one thing the gear ratio of the 6-speed-manual could do with being a bit wider, to make long-distance trips more comfortable and relaxing. For another thing the 4 cylinder engine sounds a bit unsophisticated and raucous, nothing serious but you do notice a certain lack of refinement. Other than that the KIA Ceed definitely is a decent car which I can wholeheartedly recommend.

One remark: those smoked tinted rear clusters ONLY come with GT line version. I'm not a fan of that bee-vibe detail, I prefer ordinary rear XCeed lights (not really ordinary as they are all full LEDs).

Bit confused regarding the 1.5 litre petrol engine, you say it's 160bhp yet the website says its 138bhp.

    • @dgw1970
      @dgw1970 Месяц назад

I asked about this. I was told by the dealer (when we bought one yesterday) that this is because the engine is identical but because of emission control, they have re-tested the power output and re-stated as 138bhp, even though it is the same engine.
