I think it happened. I myself have never experienced anything like this. But I know two people whom I trust and they say they had strange experiences. My grandmother had seen a plasma spehere that followed her, flying slowly along the power lines above. When she hastened her steps, the thing matched speed. It was after dark and my grandmother was the only one exiting the bus that went thought her township. It took a few minutes to walk to her house, there were many houses on both sides of the road but nobody else on the street. She ran into the house and had a feeling the thing was still there. Then, after a minute the feeling went away and she knew it was no longer there. Some say "Nah, a drone." except this happened in the early 1960s. Then, my mother also had an experience. She woke up in the middle of the night finding herself levitating above the bed, my father sleeping down on the bed. She saw three blueish beings, she said they had some one-piece-like clothing on them. She had a thought "What if I fall, I'll break my back. Please take care..." she addressed it to the beings. The middle one nodded, she got a mental message "No need to worry." and then she woke in the morning. She says the whole thing laster maybe 5-10 seconds max. I asked how she knew it wasn't just a dream. She said it was different. It was as real as we talked there, absolute wide awake. Also, she tried to reach down to my father but she wasn't close enough. And my father was talking in his sleep.

Interesting story. It's hard to know what to think other than that Jan believed that he was telling the truth about his experience. I'll say this, though, the procedure on the ship sounded a lot like 3D imaging, which would explain the need to remove his clothes.
Just my thoughts: you asked, and it's a legitimate question, as to why would the aliens do simple examinations / photos (or 3D captures, whatever it is). How about, they are not scientists but tourists? Or curious aliens. We don't know how other societies, alien societies, work. And as for the big secrecy: I have a feeling there may be a specific alien group to whom our star system, the Solar System, belongs. It could belong to someone's empire. Our planet could be a forbidden destination, and this could actually be a good reason for aliens not to be overt. -- Your idea of "class" doing learning and gaining personal experience is very good actually.
