    A five man squad with a spec ops squad leader, sniper with sniper perk, support with indirect fire perk, engineer with anti tank perk, and assault with combat medic perk, will create the ultimate squad in the history of battlefiled, provided you work to get her and don't get wiped :p

    The removal of scope glint can work. what people are freaking out about and not realizing is that if it were a level 4 unlock, you WOULDN'T get it if you a campy bitch sniper, you will get it if your a mid range sniper supporting the team getting squad points and mav assists etc. being some loser half way cross the map you wouldn't be rewarded . And even if you were mid range sniping you can still be seen by bullet trails, so level caps idea is reasonable.

      Whats stupid about the scope glint is that even though im in a dark area and indoors there is still a huge bloody glint which makes no sense but i like the idea of the glint in general

    5:23 Look at the primary weapon, and then at the logo. I don't remember SMGS looking like Sniper Rifles?

    The Field Upgrades should be customizable. It may end up being OP, like selecting every good upgrade in one. But maybe change the order of the upgrades.
    I still kind of prefer BF3's perk system.

      They could make it so only certain perks can be used on certain levels but can be used on a lower level if not used in conjunction with a different perk. Like, you can't have +10% health AND the two medic bags UNLESS medic bag is 1 and health is 4 or vice-versa. Something like that would work I think

      they can make is lvl 1 perks , lvl 2,3,4 perks
      and we can chose what ever we want from them
      so they can but the over powered perks in number 3 or 4
      but we can get what we want for our loadout ... so every one would be happy XD

      I agree with +Jhon240Yah and his first comment, it would literally become COD's perk system: chosing whatever field upgrades we WANTED would be a clone of COD's perk system (except that they have over 30 different ones)

    I'm glad to see that DICE listens to the community. The Shadow upgrade was a community voted upgrade system, chosen by a poll on their website.

    I had another upgrade idea that I'd like to share that I shall call "Spot Awareness". How I envision it working is that with the upgrade you get some visual sign (maybe areas of your HUD turn red, or a small icon on your HUD) that indicates that you have been spotted and are currently visible on the minimap and HUD (if not hardcore) of the enemy team so need to move. I think this would go well in the Shadow tree instead of Sprint, and in the Sniper tree instead of Cover.

    support class and you get more ammo... worthless perk ... I already get unlimited ammo.. they really didn't make these perks all that awesome. Does anyone use anything other than defensive ?

    Spawning: In Battlefield 2 you could only spawn on the squad leader. It was great. It kept your squad centralized on one specific spot; very rarely would it be a situation of one on one. It would usually come down to squad vs squad combat. When DICE made it where you can spawn on any squad member in the Bad Company series it destroyed the squad aspect of the game. Now people just spawn on anyone and instantly run in a direction all by their selves, a lone wolf mentality in a Battlefield game.

    In BF4 the gadgets can be used in both slots (ammo can be used in slot 1 or 2, etc. etc.), so Support can choose to replace ammo with something else, like mortars or grenade launchers.

    I think the field upgrades (or what ever they are called) were better in BF3.

    The levels would continue to stack. For example let's say you have the offense class, you would start out with more armor, then you unlock the cover upgrade, you would then have both the armor and the cover upgrades active at the same time once you unlock them.

    I agree, it's a huge problem, but if that's your biggest pet peeve, then choose a perk tree that has it. DICE is promoting teamplay and I think these trees are the best implementation of that yet. If you want a higher level upgrade, you HAVE to play as a team. You HAVE to dish out ammo or health, spot enemies and mark targets. I think it's great. Hopefully soon, people will realize again that BF is much more rewarding when you play as a coordinated team.

    I think the so call "Squad Perk" is shit because 95.9% your squad WILL NOT repeat WILL NOT work together (unless friends or clans) I mean this is unless I don't see people working together. Why DICE, give us player the same perk system like BF3 because this is JUST FKN DUMB!

    This new perk system.... I really hate. Battlefield 3 had a PERFECT system, 1 per person.... Work hard to get it... And you get to keep it. . Here your forced to work with someone else.... Very unlikely to work out good.... And it resets every match. .. That's just BULLSHIT, bf4 just took a step back with this....

      The problem is, it's not really worth it if you're playing a gameplay like TDM, unless your whole squad or at least one of your squad members is camping and not getting killed while the rest dies, so you won't lose the field upgrade.

      I really think bf4 took a step back this new perk system too. It's really stupid and usually not worth leveling up. The perk system in bf3 was awesome...

      Unlike COD - Most of BF is meant to be played as a squad and ... the best squads are friends, or gamers you played with before... maybe on vent, team speak, mumble, or what ever voice chat your consoles use.

      BoydofZINJ So, because of that, they should punish those that DON'T have people to play with or just prefer to solo it? Would be a better system if the level accumulated over the course of your session but took longer to earn. Even better with a party system for people who don't play solo.

      BoydofZINJ You are right, but that basically applies mostly for PC. On consoles doesn't really apply because remember that most people don't have a mic or don't bother to spend money on one, and since there's also no chat system on console, communication between players in a squad or entire team for that matter is almost non existent. On a PC you can text chat if you don't have a mic, if you're playing on a laptop it already has a mic built in, and it's also cheaper to get a mic for a PC (you can get one for $5).

    as for the scope glint, imo it should only occur when the sniper is pointing at you directly. you can see the glint doesnt matter what angle you're looking the sniper at.

    This whole concept sucks. Its stupid to make these reset after every match. Once an upgrade is achieved, it should stay that way permanently. Like gaining points to unlocking new weapons and equipment for them. Its actually pretty pointless for anyone but a hardcore team to even bother selecting one of these.

    Okay, but why aren't these things explained within the game? Is it expected of you to know the specifics (meaning detailed description of how things correlate with each other) from having played the previous BF games? The game doesn't exactly comes with a manual........... Shit like this fucks me up...

    I never understood how the upgrade progress worked. Now I have even more reason to hang back with my M60+bipod+ACOG. My squad seems to do better when I do that, even though I don't necessarily get a badass score or kill count. Now I know why that is. Thanks!

      Side note: I love the indirect fire upgrade for giving long range LMG and XM25/mortar support. I rush forward, drop an ammo crate for my squad, rush back, deploy bipod, spot targets while giving suppression fire, and deploy that second crate before my ammo is depleted. Two ammo crates is so useful!

    I think that you may be right about what you said in the video. There is still a great chance that all that dice has set up will work perfectly. when the open beta lunches the feed back that we give then, I believe, will have a monumental effect on the last minute changes dice will make.

    as far as i know know the total squad points count meaning that even if only 1 player of the sqad scores points it will still slowly rank up your field upgrades

    I would suggest that they change the indirect fire's Ammo to either Grenades or Flak; considering this package is explosives centered. (Grenades being a integral part of area of denial or room clearing, essentially forms of indirect fire.)
    I would also like to see the Perimeter Defense's Ammo changed to Armor; this makes perfect sense. You are holding the line so its inevitable you will soak up more bullets. It will allow you to hunker down a area more effectively with that advantage over OpFor

    As far as I can tell every member of the squad will share their field upgrade level, but each member is only affected by his or her field upgrade path.
    So a squad will level up and reset their field upgrades at the same time. So your squadmate's kills will count towards your field upgrade level. An Assault's grenadier field upgrades will not affect a Recon's grenade count or explosive resistance and vice versa. The Recon's spec ops field upgrades will not make the Assault any stealthier.

    Kinda makes sense why support gets ammo as an upgrade, makes it easier to focus on resupplying your team other than just resupplying yourself, which a lot of bad supports tend to do. Hope they improve the mortar though, was effective but dull in BF3.

    Definitely the killflash. Not many people can shoot from long-ranges accurately at the moment, so it would definitely help the people who've adjusted get their little peace of mind when laying rifle fire from 500 meters+.

    or just add those as a new type of scope, most newer military scopes have this piece that looks like a strainer or window screen that prevents the scope glare, the scope flash doesn't really matter except on the really high power rifles with laser-flat trajectories and in close quarters since you're not aiming AT the enemy, you're aiming ABOVE them, and I think they fixed the glare mechanic anyway so you only cast a glare when light hits your scope at just the right angle

    When i remember correctly there were these throwable motion sensors in BfBC2 and when you already had one deployed and threw the next one, the first one would disapear.
    I hope it works like this in BF4 so that its more like a secure way to look behind cover than a thrown Tugs

    I agree with you on the point that an individual field ugrade should be slightly altered for each class. I feel that the recon's spec ops path should offer faster movement than an assault who is carrying extra flak armor. But perhaps that is exactly what they could do with balancing? An extra 5% here or 5% less there could be very easy to implement if DICE finds the classes unbalanced.

    I agree on the questionably added support ammo upgrade. Support really needs to play with ammo packs! I think Suppression, Flak, Armor and a combined Claymore/MPAPS would be much better for Perimeter Defense. (Combining a perk like that is no problem, especially considering it was already done for the Mortar and XM25.) For Indirect Fire: Ammobag, Indirect Fire, Hand grenades, and Resupply Unit would be a more effective path. Right now support lacks luster, trying to play without ammobags.

    The reason why I wouldn't call it the definable infantry killer is because it's not the bread and butter solely because of its infantry killing power, but because of its ability to keep an infantry force up and running.
    I would call it the mesh needed to hold an infantry force together, because of the heals and rezzes.
    Engineers have good infantry killing power, just like assault, but they also have AV/AA. Which is more prominent? Similar trait or unique one?

    Good info here with enough for each player to make their own mind up. One thing I still don't know though - when your squad upgrades in game does that give YOU the perk, the one that you have chosen, or does that give your WHOLE SQUAD the perk have chosen as well? So sprint, extra grenades, ammo for everyone

    I would personally prefer smoke line, because it does not show the sniper prior to the shot.
    If the sniper can nail the shot in the head, then the smoke trail won't be a hindrance. But if he doesn't hit, the enemy he shot at now knows roughly where he is.
    I prefer this, because it lets a sniper hide, but doesn't make it impossible to see him.
    what I fear though, are campers who don't help out in the fight. Killing some people never really helps that much, as everyone is doing that already.

    You can only choose one field upgrade at a time, which (i think) only will effect you. This field upgrade have 4 levels however, and they can be unlocked by cooperating with your squad. Not yet confirmed how it works for lone wolfs...

    5x is basically acog and scope glint starts at 4x, that would made it underpowered.We are going to be able to use 40x and what I hope is we can use 40x plus 2x modifier to make it an 80x scope zoom.

    Scope glint occurs when any light reflects off the front of the lens, much like any other form of glare. So it should only happen whenever there's light.

    Just so people know....if you play as a recon you can help your teammates by placing spawn beacon and when someone spawns on it you'll get points or you can place a motion sensor and when an enemy gets spotted by your motion sensor and one of your squad kills the enemy that got by your motion sensor you'll get points!!

    For the anti tank upgrade tree there should be an upgrade that reduces the trail that missels leave so it's harder to trace them.

    Glint is what pushes those recons out to the borders of the map. All glint does is hurt the recons that want to play on the objectives and still want to use a high mag scope. If optic glint is designed to decrease camping all optics on all classes should carry glint.

    I can see where you are coming from because some things such as weapon skins were taken from CoD. However, BF2 and BF2142 introduced weapons unlocks, soldier customization, and all that kind of stuff before CoD4, which was the first CoD to include customization. BF2 was released in 2005 and 2142 in 2006. CoD4 was released in 2007.

    Snipers were fine in BFBC2. No scope glint, and it was sniper vs. sniper. It makes counter sniping very useful, and the fact that everyone can have a battle rifle / marksman rifle makes them even that much more useful.

    It is more complicated, but I like the change. I thing I love about them is that these allow you to more easily settle into a subclass now.
    If they so choose, this gives them another format upon which to balance classes. They could very easily change the code in one field upgrade to make the body armor stop 15% of damage instead of 10% in order to buff a class or playstyle. Or they could make sprint's bonus to movement 5%.to nerf a class or playstyle.

    A kill flash for long range snipers would just be unfair. He could sit in his perch all day and never be spotted. But if there was an option for a lens coating that reduced the brightness of lens flare, that would be feasible.

    I dont understand why people dont like the idea of having extra ammo with a support class. Ammo give you more total ammo which helps alot in a large gunfight when theres no time to throw down an ammo box and i think it will be even more useful if your using the new ammo packs

    well if you're camping on the edge of the map then you can't even get kill flash because you're not assisting your squad, so you don't get the field upgrades.
    It would actually support recon snipers actually doing their job to spot and suppress along with giving covering fire.

    Makes me wanna go back to play Bad Company 2. There is something beautiful about simplicity in an unlock system and this game had it. Making something more complex makes it more difficult to balance the game play within games.

    Bad Company was also in general, much smaller in scale then the Battlefield Series with more linear, rush oriented maps.

    Or things stay as it is, but make the sniper rifles less susceptible to damage drop off. (from 15m make it maybe 30m or 50m the minimum distance before damage drop off starts to kick in.)

    Whilst the Spec Ops recon will be powerful, I have a feeling Assault will still be top dog in straight fighting Infantry vs Infantry combat (AR vs Carbine, healing, revives, underbarrels) but Spec Ops has better anti tank and flanking options so its a decent balance.
    Engineer seems good, I love how they've differentiated the launchers (check out Daskros video)
    Support seems a little underwhelming. Losing the exclusivity of C4 means the new mortar, XM and accurate LMGs better be good.

    Close Quarter Spec Ops should be pretty OP. with the ability to counter armor with C4 instead of running for the hills like a medic, i plan to play a lot more recon in BF4

    Ammo perks for support is very useful ... because your team can't always be near you for ammo, so it helps support them more then yourself. That is my opinion of it

      When you get field upgrades, it's you only . Your squad does not benefit from your upgrades unless you use them to help others

    Not like the snipers are completely immune to being spotted I either. BF4 has thermal scopes/ sights PLUS it encourages our bush wookies to play more as a squad mate and less of a lone wolf since they'll need squad points to earn their kill flash.

    Your rearranging ideas are very smart. Dice needs to listen to and implement what you said. The support having the ammo perk is senseless. In B3, if someone in our squad spawned as support we never put the ammo perk on because we always had an ammo pack at our disposal. We'd use that extra slot for something more useful.

    Once again, it doesnt matter. By that logic you could call it a ray or a bulb, since those also emit light of light so long as certain requirements are met. Its not a big deal.
    Plus, the flash or glare from a scope *is* a reflection from another source.

    Personally, the idea of reduced fall damage is enticing. There are those moments when you're suddenly overpowered by your enemy and escape is a move viable option than holding your grown. Jumping off a 2-story building while at 20% health can kill you if you don't know how to land properly to reduce damage... and ever more so in hard core mode.
    As a generally stealthy, sneaky and tactical player, I like that as a field upgrade.

    Hey levelcap I totally agree with you on all the upgrades and I really think DICE should consider your suggestions. I think level 4 upgrade should be something really special and good because it will make the squad mates work harder to get to that 4th upgrade like for the recon class having no scope glint. BF4 is going to be a good game just needs some fine tuning.

    I personally think if you kill a player with a suppressed bolt action sniper, your position shouldn't be revealed in the killcam

    I definitely agree with kill flash being thrown in to the recon field upgrades. That would be great for anyone who likes to snipe from time to time

    Sniper upgrade level 4: advanced spot. This is a great(maybe OP)upgrade that really defines what a sniper is recon and overwatch. Now if we could get 70% of sniper to use the spot function we'd be in business.

    The problem with that though, is in the situations that he stated such as being in a bad defensive position or spawn camped. If you're fighting a couple of squads or tanks with maxed out progression v squad of engineers with no progression (due to spawn camp) and a handful of rockets each, that is a very one sided battle.

    Frankie had great idea, after 5 presses of "I NEED AMMO!" you can go through animation of slapping support player :P

    In response to the Kill-Flash I have this to say. In BF3, you only got the glint off your scope if you used the 8x ir higher zoom scopes. Personally, I used the JNG-90 with the 7x Russian scope which is the highest Zoom scope that doesn't emmit the scope's glint...
    I wonder if in BF4 they'll have those same game mechanics regarding scope glint.

    Turn scope flash into something more of an attachment type, like a scope cover to hide the flash of the scope.

    Remember the perks in BF3?
    Field Upgrades are some sort of that, with the difference that you only get it with squad points.
    This is supposed to get ppl to squadplay.

    I think the glimt thing might be an issue some snipers are good but once you add the zeroing in factor in the new rifles and you can zero the rifle then even some midrange snipers can become good at it, and then we have the glare issue.
    If they did add that no doubt i would just focus on my recon class because it would be a insanely nice field upgrade.

    It's also a lot more technical information to learn. You have to know how to fix the vehicles you use obviously, American tanks can be quite complicated. Look up the building process of the Abrams series.

    Yeah, DICE seems to have boned Recons again in terms of gadgets and Field Upgrades since other classes share all its explosives, useful upgrades, and some of its other gadgets (i.e. T-UGS) seem redundant.
    I feel that Hold Breath (unless steadying is actually significant this time) should also be replaced with an upgrade that gives you a ghillie suit or IR camo.

    yeah, I know.
    Personally I would also remove the glint, if they keep sniper round smoke line (the smoke that follows the shot). But for balancing purposes I also understand why they don't remove it.
    Oh well, Beta is coming up, so maybe they will change some stuff. They did for BF3

    they could fix that by increasing muzzle flash when that squad upgrade was active making it not as impossible to find campers

    I'm worried too! Most of the time ur squad is full of noobs that doesn't know how to play with a team. So if u play with friends u will have a major advantage over people who plays alone just bc they will actually get the field perks but the people that play with randoms is gonna be less likely to get them. Imo that is gonna make those squads OP

    Levelcap, you want invincibility for all classes. The field upgrades you liked the most are those of the recon and that makes recon OP - a walking tank killer- already.

    Recon class: Level 4
    Increased dealing damage by 25% to the chest with the sniper bolt actions!
    I hope that help us on the battlefield. Play more aggressively like in bc2.
