    I play (or used to) a ton of live shows and about 3 years ago I got the mk3 and radar. Hands down best purchase ever. No need to lug around very breakable and heavy amp rigs. I have a custom IR for my guitar tone and one for my bass. Send the signal to the house pa and the audience never knows. My sound is always consistent from show to show, so much good!

    I have the Mooer Regal 007 (Tone King Falcon) mainly because I've been playing in my room and wanted a good DI rig. I didn't want anything that could potentially be replaced with a higher end preamp (like everyone and their dog has probably made a Marshall preamp for DI) and I wanted something a bit left-field, like a boutique amp sim. I found that I really enjoy playing it with humbuckers on the neck clean, and a boost pedal hitting it hard. It gets some really gorgeous Cream-era Clapton tones, and it really snarls on the bridge!

    Hey Ryan, cool vid. These seem like pretty cool little 'amp-in-a-box' type pedals with a bunch of useful features for someone looking to inject a new/different amp tone into their stuff. However, that 002 pedal (JCM 900 sound) with that crispiness you mentioned in the 'clean' channel, I can't be sure, having not tried one myself but it sounded to me like it had a mis-biased or possibly dodgy FET stage

    • @beyawnko290
      @beyawnko290 3 года назад

      I have a Mooer 002 and personally love the blue channel for cleans. Sounds like old school Marshall (think Plexi lo input.) I absolutely HATE the built in cab sims though. I use Silver Jubilee cab IRs with mine. I’ve compared the cleans to my Marshall Origin, it’s pretty damn close through monitors. And with the BabyBomb 30 through a 4x12 it sounds pretty damn authentic.

    I bought quite a few of those preamp, is not that easy to obtain a good sound out of them... In the end I kept the 007 and the 020 . I like the red channel of the 007 and a little less the blue one and the opposite for the 020. I keep one at the end of my pedalboard in case of issues with my amp or if I have a mostly acoustic gig with just a few songs on the electric. I will really like to see a shootout with few options on how to get straight into the soundboard or soundcard.

    I'd like to see the comparison with the Strymon, but from what I've heard so far I doubt the Mooer will fare well against it. I wouldn't bother comparing these against all that other stuff. In my very limited experience with Mooer, it's not the most reliable stuff around. I had a reverb from them that sounded great but it broke within a few months of very light use. It was the just the third reverb on my board so light use is probably an understatement. I also had a friend who had another reverb they make and its switch also died.

    • @yudiutama3233

      Yes, you can. The radar is cabinet simulator, it needed when you want to use another cabinet/speaker model. The micro preamp already had one.
      Sorry for my bad english

    • @CosmicWaltz7
      @CosmicWaltz7 3 года назад +2

      Yes, you can use these without the Radar. The cab sim function of the preamp pedals does a pretty decent job of removing the high frequencies from your signal. Normally an actual guitar amp cuts these high frequencies. That's why there's a "crispy" kind of tone when he plays the pedals when the light isn't blinking - the blinking indicates the cab sim function is on.
      The Radar is an extra option for people looking for more control over the cab simulation. The Radar has better response to your playing, models multiple cabinets, and you can select options such as power amp emulation, power tube types, presence, microphone types, microphone position and distance, and a 5-band or parametric eq section. It's a lot to research if you're just getting started, but running the preamp pedal - with its own cab sim off - into the Radar is a great way to record without an amp while getting professional quality. If you want something that's easier to just jump into or something for a live-setting backup, though, the preamp pedals work fine on their own.
