I know because I used to actually buy VHS tapes before dvd's were really around, and see Massive Monkees all over the events around different locations even before 2000. Rivers only started really showing up with some of there early exposures in the Expressions 2003 video.
Majority of people who commented in this section have NO idea about their hip hop history in the bboy world. It's sad. Massive Monkees members were breaking and winning at big events 15 years ago or so, and Rivers who started coming out to events and winning about 6 years ago, are called legendary in comparison. Rivers IS amazing!! But you can't say they are legendary compared to Massive when Massive has been in the game about ten years before Rivers.
Close battle could of gone either way, I feel Massive had better routines, musicality, and footwork. While Rivers had better power, technique, and energy(crowd goes a long way). Very dope battle and both killed it.
@Physicx001 Uhhh, yeah and Massive Monkees have influenced bboying from the late 90's to the early years of 2000, up to that time no one knew who Rivers was internationally. They were a small crew in Korea, it wasn't til 2003 VHS Expressions crew video where they made an appearance that they got a little known, and not only until about 2004 that
@Physicx001 were influencing crews like Rivers on old vhs tapes ALL Korean crews used to watch in the 90's and early 2000, of crews like Massive, Style elements, etc. I know, because I trained at Korean bboy studios where they have LIBRARIES of old American vhs bboy tapes of crews like this. So don't talk.
@Holyfiremikey what lordsangone said. It doesn't mather how long ur in the game, it's what you bring to the table. If someone is started earlier doesn't say there better. And naming legendary is by actions and influence not but how long ur around. Old ppl are not legendary ppl, but ppl that have influence (no mather the age) are called heros or legendary. So your facts and opinion are not relevant and based. Cause your a (american) bboy yourself right ??
@Holyfiremikey dude i appreciate ur hiphop history lesson but this all started cause of doinks misunderstanding. he called out the wrong crew. and as far as legendary, just cause a crews been around doesnt really say much. its wat they accomplish during that time that counts. u can be legendary almost immediately if ur good enuff.
@doink3 yo how can u say that to a legendary crew. if anything bboys bite off of rivers. rivers dont bite, koreans dont bite, yo momma bites.....these nutz! lol
