This film shows you that all your actions will have an effect on everyone in your life when you are still here and once you are gone. Your actions will effect everything in many peoples futures. That's what I took from this movie.
Ryan's arms, for those wondering, are the gifts of genetics (he's said this himself in one interview on here somewhere). He actually has what Hollywood would deem 'the' body for men -- a model size build (i.e. skinny) with added meat. He gained meat for Crazy, Stupid, Love and basically maintained it for the Thai movie with Nick Refn, coming out this July. So he had no choice but be muscular for the others. Gosling once got sickly fat for a role and didn't get it (The Lovely Bones).
The people who made Blue Valentine, Drive and now this always cast Ryan for that type of character. Not his acting. Just the style of cinema and look they go for. More body language communication than verbal
Drive isn't made by the same people as BV and TPBTP, it was done by Nicholas Winding-Refn. Also BV and TPBTP aren't even close to being the same kind of movie. They were done by the same director, Derek Cianfrance, that's it.
Denzel said it best looks will only take you so far... because for damn sure he don't have acting chops.... but hey who gives a shit about a good movie when looks is all you need lol
