I dove that site 50 years ago. We found it towing a proton magnetometer. Then, no GPS, no side scanning sonar anyone could afford, and depth meters that’s all they did. Now depth sounders could probably find it . We’d get a disturbance, drop a marker and one of us would bounce dive it. There were lots of bounce dives as there were sunken log bundles tied together with wire rope. When trying to beach there, no wheels on it, the pilot was encountering a strong wind and hit a poling that knocked one of the wing tip floats off. Turning a full circle when the wing without the float was on the down wind side it tipped to that side and down it went. All got off ok. The navy did a dive shortly thereafter and removed the machine gun. I am 82 now.

That way, even if you have your pitch at some crazy angle, you still only move laterally, and it’s way easier for manual station keeping if you want to take a detailed look at something
The right scroll wheel on the controller (top, think where triggers would be, next to the light switches) is used for accessories like the grabber arm or water sampler; left switches allow you to switch through a few control modes

Rope trick, for your cabling! 😊i came from a family business repainting watertowers and needing to have e 300’ airlines (& etc.) running up it. Undo the cabling at both ends, then fold it doing an over/under fold… do that like 3 times to work out the twists, when you do it that way, when its folded, it should lay flat, as in none of the cabling is pushing out or away. Then just screw a cone to a flat square board, it’ll lay flat, and pull out without twisting(tangling). You’ll have to be diligent with it to keep it from twisting and knocking. See how sailers tie up line they need quick access to that can’t twist when they need it. It’ll save you so much headache and keep it app fun.
I can’t help but feel that the 420 version of this would be hilarious to listen to. All the ‘woahhh’, and ‘can you see me’ and directional discombobulation are already 90% there already though… 😂
Try putting a stick on the front of the sub and a strong light on it. This way you get less direct reflections of the water particles in front of you and can see further. It would also help if you put the light a bit off axis, like on top or the bottom of the sub, instead straight next to camera lens. Same effect like headlights in fog vs fog lights down low.
Also I can't find any photos of a mounted M249 on Navy or Coast Guard vessels, except for one with an M240 mislabelled as an M249 But loads with a mounted M240
Hmmm, this video brings up interesting challenges with communicating and locating. Two blue-sky thoughts: 1) The lights worked well for signaling, but seemed pretty weak. Light is going to be limited no matter what, but could one build tiny little aimable green lasers with simplistic cameras that can detect that green laser light specifically. Then when you want both subs to locate each other by visual, both subs turn on their lasers/cameras. If they're pointing vaguely at one another, then it should be easy for each camera to see the other's laser (like they're painting themselves), then aim their laser at the other - basically, the subs would lock on to each other with a visible green laser light between them. Would green lasers be better? Water filters out the red light (I think), so I figured a high power green would work okay. Not that this is really a thing. 1A) Oh! If the lasers can be aimed to paint actual targets like the wreck, then a companion sub could basically use the same system to make their laser point directly at what their partner is pointing at, so you know where everyone is looking. You'd need to be able to tell the laser/camera to point forward so you can aim the sub at the object you want to highlight. 2) Is it possible to make the submarines emit audio pings, and build or use an existing sonar system that can locate them much more precisely than scanning the lakebed, since they can tune to each submarine's acoustic chirping? Sound is about the only medium to use to transmit information wireless down there, right? No real light/radio based stuff that will reach? *EDIT:* Anyone remember the movie _Batteries Not Included?_ 😀

Wow!!! If you have a real time 3D scanning device on the sub and a screen right next to you showing the scans and the subs relative position you'd have a greate time navigating around it (or any other cool stuff you may come to in the future). Would be a cool project to watch you go through.
Another YT site which uses the RCV subs is Lost Mines. They recently explored a mine with wall writings dated 1750, 26 years before our independence. They have several videos of diving into mines in Wales, UK.
I've been wondering, if you add a gripper to one of those subs, maybe you could use them to grab sea urchins. That's seriously good food. And if there's too many of them, eating some will help the kelp grow.
The sunk log you see in your video is likely worth a lot. If you know where that is located, you could likely get a good commission from a licensed timber salver. Sunk logs that were originally harvested by humans, can be worth a lot. If it has cuts on the end, salvors can make some money from it.

This was real cool guys!😊
I love these ROV videos you should make your own that would make a cool video
This video is amazing 😂 love the commentary
The point of view from the submarine made it look like Sebastian and Daniel were having conversations underwater, its very amusing :)
Great work tying in the sponsor with the plane.
Maybe try reflective Tape on the subs, especially the dark one so you see each other better?
Another YT site which uses the RCV subs is Lost Mines. They recently explored a mine with wall writings dated 1750, 26 years before our independence. They have several videos of diving into mines in Wales, UK.
Just when I thought youtube had given up on giving me interesting vids.. bam. RC testflight.
Thanks guys, keep em coming.
I've been wondering, if you add a gripper to one of those subs, maybe you could use them to grab sea urchins. That's seriously good food. And if there's too many of them, eating some will help the kelp grow.
second guy driving that thing like he's actually on a sub being deprived of oxygen
It would be great if they also had thermal and night vision cameras.
Thermal would not do much, everything down there will be the same temperature as the surrounding sea, except maybe the fish.
Amazinf footage. We need underwater 3d gps technology.
Your weather for this time of year is way too good....🤔😳🇬🇧
The sunk log you see in your video is likely worth a lot. If you know where that is located, you could likely get a good commission from a licensed timber salver. Sunk logs that were originally harvested by humans, can be worth a lot. If it has cuts on the end, salvors can make some money from it.
YEEEEEES NEW VIDEOS!!!!!!
This looks like a pretty cool place to scuba dive, but 46° would require a very very warm drysuit.
I feel like these RC submarines would be a lot more usable with FPV goggles so you don't have to fight the sun
13:10 What is causing bubbles to come out of the plane?
