It's awesome. I was in the garden doing work on my MTB. I needed the NM for one of the screws and didn't want to go upstairs and look in the manual. I started googleing and reading forums and at some point people always know better and start unnecessary discussions. So I started PerplexityAI app and asked it for the torque that needs to be applied to that specific skrew for that mountainbike... tadaa 10-12NM.
I am 78 yrs young howerver ifdsssssssssss am experiencing some mild cognitive problems. I find it difficult to find and follow your cursor. It would really help me to follow to your instructions if you could use a larger cursor. I'mvglad i found your channel and i really like the way you present the information. Thank You.
There is an option in windows settings to highlight the cursor. This is from perplexity: Here’s how you can enable this feature: Open Mouse Settings: Press the Windows key, type mouse, and select Mouse settings from the search results. Access Additional Mouse Options: In the Mouse settings window, look for a link to Additional mouse options on the right side and click it. Enable Pointer Location Highlight: In the Mouse Properties dialog that opens, navigate to the Pointer Options tab. Check the box labeled Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key. Click OK to apply the changes. Once this setting is enabled, pressing the Ctrl key will cause Windows to display concentric circles around the cursor, making it easier to locate on the screen.
This is so useful. I was so sick of Google. I was just so tired of having to wade through countless superficial blogs written by content writers working in companies before I got to what I was looking for.
1. I appreciate you not seeding your video with a whole bunch of dramatic gestures and whizzybangweird cut-ins. 2. I appreciate the pace of your video, previous video with said whizzybang weird stuff was also delivered at a seeingly amphetamine level pace. 3. I appreciate you sticking to your BLUF (Bottom Line Upfront) which you told us at the beginning of your vid and you stuck to it with excellence. I've been getting my feet wet with AI/Chat-GPT tools over the past couple of years, I may be up to my knees at this point, and have been relatively pleased with the feedback, as long as I stay away from queries where political bias comes into play, because that really does display the fallibility of us humans - at least in my probably not-so-popular opinion. :) I'm going to stick with Perplexity for a good while. I think on the research level it does an amazing job and also has some pretty cool features that I haven't seen (or explored) with other tools. Anyway, thanks again - well done. Definitely going to hit that subscribe button.
I've been using PPX's collections like what I think the GPT's functionality works in OpenAI. The custom prompt can have sections that go really specific on how output should be formatted and even include a persona the AI should reply as (I.e.: you're an expert geologist explaining the intricacies of how volcanos work for a class of 8th graders). The API is far more limited than the one you get from OpenAI, BUT I don't think most users opt or care for that. I also really like how one can ask it to re-write answers as a different model. Claude2, for example, is not available in my country via the official Anthropic site.
Very usefull and complete video to understand perplexity as a whole..thank you..just a liitle advice may be , if posibble, to pace your speech lower to make following more easy and understandable..
There is also a rewrite option which can be used as a cross refernce if one is uncertain of the veracity or completness of the first summary of a search.
@@tobyskaats1234 Absolutely. I leave it enabled 100% of the time. Using the copilot feature in Perplexity AI is like hiring a personal assistant to run errands for you. The assistant can be very helpful for complex, time-consuming tasks like planning a big trip or researching an academic paper. They ask clarifying questions, dig through various sources, and summarize the most useful information for you. However, using copilot can be overkill for quick, simple searches. For example, if you just wanted to know what time the new Dune movie is playing at your local theater, having a personal assistant compare and contrast ticket sales, projections, look up reviews, and map directions would be total excess. You could have just quickly googled the showtime yourself. When comparing AI assistants, turning on copilot is critical to compare results between products. Otherwise it’s just a basic search.
@@tobyskaats1234 oh another fantastic use case is placing threads into a collection, and then adding custom instructions to it. The sky is the limit for productivity and I highly recommend trying that feature.
I’d like to know if any of the engines are prioritizing sources that have been human verified vs. sources created by another AI model. Since so much content is being generated, it starts to lose accuracy and granularity and becomes an amalgamation of averages over time. Like a copy of a copy.
Thinking about getting this pro version, i had gpt pro, i kind of miss gpts, but i mostly just used it for easy coding and loose advice and "explain this to my 5 year old son" but this seems way more organized and i like how you can individually prompt separate things, is this worth it?
I think that with any software I use, one of the big value points is the user interface. So, if you prefer this user interface more and it provides the value you seek in these kinds of models, I would consider the change.
Agreed, but each has its pros and cons. I feel that when it comes to this new technology, I go with what I am most comfortable with and what has the best UI experience.
AI synthesis of multiple sources is pretty vulnerable to mistakes if it is aggregating random opinions and also misinformation if there’s a bunch of alternative “facts” being flooded onto the internet.
the one thing missing from all these AI engines is the substantial lack of data . Yes they are impressive on the data they have been trained on and have access to , but the vast amount of data available is proprietary or paywalled or just not available on the internet. I can think of lots of questions I know will come up dead ends on any AI . I ask these questions all the time so I know the limits of the data sets they are based on. No data set--no data !!
If it does not tell you which idea or claim in the text is from which source, the answer is plagiarism and will get you a failing grade or expelled in college. Why cannot it not cite the sources? That makes it pretty useless if you are trying to be professional. Can you click on the source and read the original text?
PERPLEXITY DOES NOT ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR REQUESTS AS YOU WOULD THINK IT SHOULD. I ASKED IT TO BE A PROMPT GENERATOR, I GAVE IT A KEYWORD, IT GAVE ME PROMPTS FOR THE KEYWORD BUT NOT ALWAYS IN THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE PROMPT. AS VERBIAGE WENT ON IN THE PROMPT AND I ASKED FOR MORE PERPLEXITY KIND OF GOT CONFUSED AND WENT BACK TO THE BEGINNING INSTEAD OF FOLLOWING THE THREAD AND CONTINUING.
It worked great until one day of debugging my code exceeded the limits. I can't justify paying when coding is a hobby. Maybe you should have a seniors discount.

you can slow the video down in the settings!
This is amazing. I'm gonna try it for my coming research. It will be a great help! But, I'm not sure if this could pass the AI ddtection test.

Honestly the top 1!
Bing AI does the same things, is also free and uses gpt4 - does this one offer any competitive advantage?
Yea, it provides a source to fact check while Bing doesn't so you never know bing is telling truth or bs.
Thanks Corbin. I'm wondering why you don't have copilot selected for your queries. Is there a strategy behind this?
Are you using Co-Pilot? Why?

Hello . Do you know is it possible to create an own LLM for own startup?
Yes, definitely, in the long term, that is what every AI SaaS should try to achieve!
where are you going to get the data for training

Would you suggest getting the Pro version? In which usecases do you see the Pro version more useful?

Can we automate Perplexity with Zapier and how? 😊
They offer an API so it should be possible
I'm interested in using perplexity to drive image generation platforms.
Good content sir.
greate video i am able to learn github action using Perplexity
*Alternative title:* _Reading aloud the Perplexity settings_
hi i ave paid version and i dont have generate image optinion, can you help me how to find it?
How would you say this compares to Google's SGE? It seems a bit similar

Can it replace Google?
Perplexity was already smart but OMG 😮
Can it make spreadsheets?
You can ask Claude to give you VBA script. When run, it will generate a spreadsheet for you to use.
it only needs the text to speech option and voila👍

2:42 ….um, yeah, they “might” run ads in the near future…lol…maybe!
Very insightful. But please consider English is not the first language for some audience and try to make your language clearer.
Academic references for "How do volcanos work": some papers about effort, reward, occupational stress... hmmmm.... something seems quite wrong here
Google's had it's day but I don't feel that Perplexity will be the final nail.
Not related can you show us your process fir filming this new sub 🎉😊
I can look into making a video on this topic in the future. For your reference, the recording software I use is OBS.
It often summarizes BAD INFO with the same emphasis as good info

its a matter of when they put ads on there not if Lol
Search engine manipulation is unacceptable!
Their API seems don't have these features..
I try this every week ans still think its not worth it at all! Its now delete from my ipad. Sorry
why?
