The girl in the long dress was interviewed after this went viral (she's a singer and actress from Texas). She said that the bidding was her dad vs the dad of the girl in the short dress, not the girls themselves. It's still a huge sum of money, but at least it was older people paying, and unlike the girls, the parents could afford it.
