The strings are sorely missing in this music, in my opinion.

"New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians" says that the 6 Concertos are written for harpsichord/piano, 2 violins and cello.

I wonder why he called them concertos instead of sonatas?

Perhaps it supposed to be played with an orchestral part, but it is not obligato. However, I feel like something is missing, mainly because some parts seem to be an accompaniment for something that is not there.

In 18th cent, many music-lovers wanted to play favorite concertos in their home by himself. So many composers reduced their concertos for solo- players'. For example, many Mozart's piano concertos were reduced into chamber sonata forms for home-playing.
