the thing about lisa and rosé is, lisa was kinda forced to learn korean fast so she could communicate with staff and members, she got there knowing nothing and yg didn't let people use any other language with her, so she knows a lot from studying, rosé though she grew up learning the basics even living in australia cause her family would maybe communicate in korean, so she didn't need to force herself to learn it better as what she knew was enough. im brazillian and learned english in two years and had north americans being impressed with my english saying i know more than them, thats cause i had to actually study to be able to use it when they grew up with it. the same goes when i see foreigners speaking better portuguese than me.
yes! I had to learn english too and had to score really high for IELTS to be able to get into good universities abroad so a lot of natives say my English is better than theirs but I actually just had to learn a lot more and not take conversational English as well as academic level English for granted.
thats the case with many english speakers when they encounter people whos native tongue is not english. ive noticed that i speak a lot better and have a better grammar than many native speakers. i had time to learn it too but in school you are taught about grammar, and its different than learning by speaking and learning quickly isnt even that big of a part. i cant tell you how many times americans have yoused your when you should use you're and vice versa lol.

i have a lot of respect towards Lisa cause she really did *knew nothing* when she entered Korea at the young age of 14, alone, living away from her family just to be a trainee. She only knew "hello" in korean and probably knew some basic english back then but she wasn't allowed to be spoken english by anyone in the building so she really had to work even harder with her language than the other trainees. But thankfully Jennie would secretly communicate with her in English. I can't even imagine the pressure of having to learn to be fluent starting from scratch in Korean, English, and Japanese in just under 5 years when your native language is very much different from other language. I had Chinese classes once for a whole year and i still wasnt able to pronounce the basic words fluently at the end of the year, because the intonation and pronunciation matters A LOT or you could end up saying another word and mess up your communication.
she does not really practice Japanese anymore. i don't think even then. none of them do. even Jennie whom is near fluent. well conversationally i mean. she does not practice it anymore. though she has stated what she knows, she keeps it short because she doesn't know when to use sonkeigo v kenjougo in interviews. there times when promoting she would use teneigo. which is fine but when promoting yourself if my Japanese 101 is right you have to use sonkeigo in putting yourself down in realtion to the speaker being us. i think it is the same in Korean since there are more levels of politeness in Korean culture.
