Quick fix: change the 2x1 purple piece toughing the corner of the red square to blue, the T-shaped blue piece above it to purple and finally the square itself to blue. You still have two shapes of the same color touching corners, which is not technically a problem but I feel is a tiny bit less elegant. I wonder if there is a way to do it without corners touching - I’m too busy to try it myself. Skylark Murphy’s solution also has touching corners (once you correct the L shape above the square).
This is brilliant, but I screwed up many many times by forgetting that the numbers outside the grid obviously don't affect the whole row, only the numbers within the killer cages. Ultimately took me just over an hour of focus. Still, though, what a brilliant puzzle set. How she comes up with these things I'll never understand!
Visiting from the future! OK, actually coming back to see some older videos. This was a great one, but really makes me appreciate that they have reduced the INTENSITY of the colours in the app. These were so bright that they got in the way of seeing the numbers.
This one took me multiple attempts, mainly because I kept thinking that numbers outside the grid eliminated numbers inside the grid. Once I got over this grave misconception and used stone cold logic, however, the puzzle opened itself for me and gave me one of the most delightful solving experiences ever. Laura, please, please do keep setting more puzzles! I'd definitely purchase a puzzle book from this author!
This is a very rich puzzle. I was never stumped for a possible next move to make progress, but I had to keep changing strategies, from skyscraper to killer to sudoku. Took a long time! And it's tricky, in that you keep thinking that the numbers outside the grid rule out numbers in the rows and columns but they don't.
Wow! That puzzle was fantastic. Took me 75 minutes, but is 100% my favorite puzzle ever. About to watch to see how you figured things out so much quicker!
An absolutely wonderful puzzle. Incredibly impressive that she could create such a puzzle! Such a fun solve, switching between thinking about skyscrapers and killer cages.
The colors make the grid look very busy and the numbers very hard to make out. I would recommend to increase the brightness and decrease the saturation of the colors used to shade the grid. Besides that, of course, fantastic puzzling as always!
Simon's joy of discovery as he uncovered more and more of this puzzle was infectious. :D It might have been the youtube encoding, but I had a hard time reading the numbers in the red and purple regions, unfortunately.
This one took me an hour-and-a-half -- brain was grinding the gears today. I love the idea of combining killer sudoku and skyscraper, though. Some beautiful bits of logic. Thank you, Laura Soler!
One thing I noticed while solving this - a skyscraper clue and the first number next to it can never add up to more than 10. For example, if the first number in the main grid is 6 then the longest sequence is 6-7-8-9 so the skyscraper clue would be 4. Based on that, both of the 20 boxes at the edge of the grid decompose into two 10s instead. Still took me over an hour to solve though :-(
Loved this puzzle and had a blast solving it. I do think that because there is so much information, but it is so hard to decipher, that every person's solve is probably quite different on this one. I ended up noticing a lot of 12345 quintuples because a lot of the cages, which is definitely something you don't end up with too often in normal Sudoku
A fun puzzle, very challenging for me. Took me over 3 hours. I'm not very good yet at Killer Sudoku and the numbers outside the grid kept causing me to keep making scanning and notation mistakes. I wasted the first hour because after all the Sandwich Sudoku I've been doing in the App noted a 15 cage incorrectly. Thanks for the puzzle as always guys!
I messed this up twice, ending up with having to watch the video while solving it. But there is one simple rule that would have been useful on row 2: Whenever a skyscraper number is 2, you either have an 8 next to it or a 9 one step in. The 9 in row 2 could have been solved much earlier.
The color patterns on this puzzle hurt my eyes. I had to print-screen and reduce the saturation in order to be able to play it. Was a great puzzle once I could work on it, though ^^
I'm not sure how, but I wound up reversing the 573 / 357 in the last three main puzzle columns, which made the skyscraper break. I wonder if the logic I used was sound, and only broke because of the skyscraper constraint? Doesn't seem like it should be. I probably just made a mistake.
Come on, they gotta get watch time. At that point there's no reason to watch the video at all so it hurts their hustle. I know when I try the puzzle and get it done easily enough to where I don't think I'm gonna learn much from the video, I'll at least let it play all the way through while I'm doing something else. Most people won't know or won't care, though. I ain't got money for patreon and all that, but I do what I can to support good channels like this.
@@shane8037 I doubt that's why it's not included. They sometimes do include the instructions in the description box, for example: ruclips.net/video/RluIUq8GQjw/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/tG4_pEFnBQc/видео.html from the past few weeks
@@AnRuixuan even if that's not the reason, they should consider it. I guess they can look at the analytics for those videos and if the view time was on par with similar videos without the instructions then it isn't a big deal. To be sure I agree with you that it's mad helpful to have the rules handy without searching for them, but I do want them to get paid for what's one of the best channels on RUclips.
Maybe a white outline instead? It would still look the same in white background and would probably look better with colored background. Either that or a bit softer colors so they are more "pleasant to watch".
I want to enjoy this video but unfortunately the choice of colours is making it physically impossible for me to follow anything since I can barely see that there are numbers in any given square let alone read the numbers. That purple(?) that is being used for the notes is just atrocious for the colourblind and, unfortunately, makes the video quite unwatchable for me
Using Simon & Mark's page, perhaps you could white out the colors, using "Color" and fill everything with color 3? Then just go by the box and cage markings?
@@Tehom1 Yea, on the site itself I can make the colours work but unfortunately that doesn't help in watching the video when any notes that are place in the purple boxes are invisible and the ones in the red and orange ones are visible but unreadable (and the blue boxes aren't easy to read but at least not physically impossible). It's the first time I've seen a video on this chanel where I physically can't see more than half of what is happening. It is definitely something to do with this puzzle specifically, if I go to a puzzle from a different video and set the colours of the sqares to 5, 6 or 7 then I can see notes put in the squares but on this one those same colours make them invisible or unreadable
The four-color map theorem disapproves of that red square
Bothered me, made a fix i.imgur.com/hY1my4R.png

I came here to say this
Great, now my OCD will keep me focused on that red square for the whole video and beyond...

This skyscraper 2 sitting at the end of row 2, waiting almost for ever to get the 9 placed..

Thanks a lot for sharing this extraordinary beautiful puzzle with the community. I have no words for it!!

The colour contrast was high on this one. Loved the puzzle, very stimulating!

1.5 hours, and still managed to mess up the end. Brilliant :)
Love this mad bird, keep doing her puzzles lads!

Simon Singh, I really appreciate his book Fermats Last Theorem. My math teacher gave it to me as a present in 8th grade. I have fond memories of it.
Wow. Mad variant, I loved the solve.
Beautiful puzzle! One of my favorites.
Another great solve, You are certainly far, far quicker than I thou having said that I never time myself, completing the puzzle is my reward.

Fantastic puzzle.
Love the puzzle. Not enough contrast on the red and magenta squares though.
What's the sound on 20:50? I was thinking about sudden stroke attack.

The purple and red areas make the pencil marks really hard to see.
