    This could be the same fake Mikuni I have, except mine's a VM34. Was your problem with Mikuni main jets not fitting, that the thread on the needle jet (where the main jet screws onto) is too small? if so, you should just re thread it. I did so and now genuine Mikuni jets fit fine.

      After almost a year now, I still have the stock jets and it runs great. I pull the plugs and clean them every once in a while. I could go a little leaner but an air-cooled bike in Florida, I'd rather have too much than not enough.

    S&s carburetor will bolt right up to your single intake

      Do you have an s&s on a virago? If so which one, I'm using one of the original carburetors converted to single on my 700 virago, I would like to install an s&s

    Did you use a fuel pump or gravity feed.
    Thanks

      @@tomslater1332 Gravity feed from tank. The stock petcock is vacuum-actuated, I have replaced it with a standard.

      Plugs are definitely black but haven't fouled yet. I ordered mine from the same guy but got the knockoff carb. I'm looking to find a good replacement carburetor.

    I ordered the same set up just with vm30 separate to be sure im getting the real one. So what size jets are you using now?

    • @searchingforskunkape6170
      @searchingforskunkape6170  Год назад

      The carb came with a 40 pilot and 250 main. It could probably go a little leaner on both. Gas mileage reduced but the fun increased. You might want to pick up some fender washers for the intake bolts, the flanges are slotted.

      Will do. And how did you hook up the tank with vm30 since the petcock is “vacuum operated”

    • @searchingforskunkape6170
      @searchingforskunkape6170  Год назад

      @BP15 I replaced my vacuum petcock for a gravity one a while back. It can be found here:
      www.amazon.com/PETCOCK-VALVE-ASSEMBLY-YAMAHA-VIRAGO/dp/B07D4KFZQX
      The only problem is it points to the rear of the bike. The intake may have to be tapped for a vacuum line.

      @@searchingforskunkape6170have you done any modifications to the throttle cable other than grinding the cable end?

    • @searchingforskunkape6170
      @searchingforskunkape6170  Год назад

      @borna9842 The cable itself wasn't long enough. I had to cut the end off, cut some of the sheathing, and solder the end back on. Removed the return cable completely.

    Any loss of power?

      I feel like it's much faster now. I did lose a lot of weight on the bike, bobbin' it out. I haven't fine-tuned it yet, but it'll move.
