Dear IEC, please hire this man as a teacher in the Connecticut location 😂 I’m a 3rd year apprentice and you have explained this light years more concise than my teacher. Thank you for these videos.

No better explanation exists! One little thing, I think the out of phase demonstration would show additive giving you a larger potential .

Your explanation is awesome! Quick (academic) question. What would happen (in your 50VA rating example) if I try to draw more current than the maximum rated (on 2ndry 25 Amp) current lets say 40 amp, load (given I run appropriate wire/gauge to accommodate the 40 amp current on the 2ndary side). Since theoretically, if 2ndry draws more current, the the current in the primary also increases, so how does the rated capacity (VA) factor in this? This is a sheer academic question. Thanks.

Another solid video! Could you do one explaining symmetrical components some time? I'd be interested in your explanation. Also, I work for the electricity board and we have interconnected transformers pulling -VArs as LV generation pushes power up through transformers towards HV loads. I'd also be interested in how powerflows work like this, without inverting transformers etc. Thanks and I'll look forward to the next video!

Question that’s a little off topic…I saw a video that suggested the HV transmission lines coming into the substation primary side of the transformer were not affected by the secondary coils load. However several other videos I’ve seen suggested that increasing the load on the secondary will cause an increase on the current primary winding. Is there a way that the secondary load has no effect on the primary load of a transformer?

    Np*Ip/Ns*Is = Ep*Ip/Es*Is
    AmpereTurns_primary/AmpereTurns_secondary = VoltAmperes_primary/VoltAmperes_secondary
Ampere Turns is the unit for the magnetic field. Multiply by the magnetic permeability and it gives magnetic field in Tesla.
If you use a variable power supply with constant voltage source or constant current source, it will show the input voltage and current and you can vary things, without so much hand-waving. Also changing the frequency lets you introduce frequency dependent inductive and capacitive impedance.

DAVE GORDON, You didn't mention anything about why transformers have "in rush current" when first apply voltage/current to transformers. The theory behind the transformers in rush current to go over in a lesson. Also you can do a lesson about Transformer GHOST current/voltage, what is causing the GHOST current/voltage and what is the theory behind GHOST currents and voltages?

If i have 4160v primary line to line. I want to bank a transformer with 4160v primary and 240/480 v secondary . The costumer need 240 volts. What would be the connection on secondary to acquire 240 volts.. internal connection series. Cannot be parallel..
