Two parts of a four part hornpipe by Robert Pinkman. Setting from Scots Guards Book 3, and also as explained
It's a beautiful tune, I'm learning it on practice. But now, for me, it's rather "snaily fingers" 😁
I've been trying to learn this tune for some time. You break it down really well! Now I just have to get up to speed. Thank you.
I like it with the "gde " grace notes in
i love this tune, maybe i should practice it now. Thanks Neil
Very welcome. Excuse the rambles!
thank you Neil for posting this
Oh and by the way, I am going to crack out my SG III (that I just got the other day!) And tackle this tune. You make it look easy. Well maybe not easy...but easier and you certainly break it down in such a way that it is no longer daunting! Thank you! Now I know your charity of choice is Parkinsons UK
But I hope you don't mind that I donate to a Parkinson's charity- but in my country.
As requested, I believe the crossing noise was in the 5th bar of the second part, going from the C to HA. Thanks for making this instructional video for this tune.
Very well explained and until this video - one of the best on-line instructors “never seen” 😆... normally just hands/chanter. Question- finger hight above the chanter... appears 2-3”. Does this aggressive “lift” assist in reducing crossing noise errors? Enjoyed your approach (especially the reference on the birls). Keep going!
Thanks. The high fingers kind of came as a result of continual demonstration. I do find myself telling pupils that they don't have to do it when I see their fingers miles above the chanter hole... they're only copying what I'm doing. However, yes, it will assist in combatting crossing. All that has to be done is the slow and deliberate approach is eventually sped up.
@@NeilClark-FalkirkPiping agreed, slow to start - really glad I found your channel! 😊👍
Thanks Neil! Hamilton Celtic pipers enjoy this tune
Buhahaa. So I started slowing down play back to catch your birl. Man it's tough to see the first G. So then I thought, "let's speed him up for kicks and.giggles and check out if he sounds like a fast talking glaswegian with a mouth full of marbles!" Well surprise surprise you are totally intelligible and a minute later you start cracking jokes about it yourself.
Perfect timing!
New to piping , you said a note "not" as shown in the book
I dont get sheet music lol... the dots kill me and what grace notes need be more addressed than others
I convert the 9 notes low G to high A into numbers , 0 is open T is thumb then 1 to 7 ... and it's easy
Guitars are numbers on 6 strings ,tin whistle show holes in black and white... why must bagpipes be so daffed
Yes, the version with the d strike in the variation is the most popular, i prefer it
Thanks for sharing! Have to get the sheet music.
You can make video for hellbound train slowly?
4 parts, ive never known nor heard a 4 parted version
