    MOVED TO TEARS!!!
As the mother of 3 adult children, the youngest currently Active Duty, this video brought me to tears. I have been following you for years, and you have never disappointed. I have commented over the years about how gifted you are and how blessed we are to have the opportunity to watch your journey, but this last video struck that nerve that reduced me personally to need the box of tissues. Barry, your ability to tell a story is precious, and something I feel compelled to encourage at any and every opportunity. God Blessed you with so many talents, and I pray you continue to use them in whatever copassity to touch the hearts of your viewers. You are so much more than a RUclips content creator. Thank you thank you thank you so much for this heartfelt "love, appreciation, respect, memorial video to those who gave service to this country. If we don't as a country honor those who came before, we can't expect the same for those currently holding the fort today. As a fellow Wiscosinite, mother, and grandma, I feel an extra since of pride, and I'm sure your parents could not be more proud of you. Thank you for this precious video, message and congratulations for another phenomenal project. What a wonderful heirloom you created to pass onto the next generation.

Oh Dear Barry, your beautiful piece dedicated to your Grandfathers, has touched me deeply. I’m trying to type this while I’m crying. My father served in the Korean Conflict, Army. This video reminded me so much of him. He raised us kids to respect and love our country, our flag, and to always remember those who served and those who gave their lives to this country. My Dad’s father served in World War I. He died later on in life from the mustard gas. Well done Sir, and I KNOW both your Grandfathers were with you every step of the way, while you built that. They will always, like me, with my Dad be with you in spirit always. Thank you, Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸

Thank you honoring our nation's warriors. I've had many family members serve in the military, risking their lives for our freedoms. My fathers' and uncles' experiences in the South Pacific during WWII were horrendous. My brother physically survived Vietnam but was haunted by those memories for the rest of his life. Other family members served both overseas and in-country. I have great respect for our warriors, past and present, who gave/give so much for us. Thank you again for honoring them. And I also thank your family members for their service. God bless.

The plate doesn't just have their name but their rank, brank they serviced under but the war they where in at the time they served. I thought my Mom had my brother's done years ago. Daddy's flag wasn't even a case until last month.

WWII Army ), my Uncle who served in Europe in WWII piloting jeeps and motorcycles because his colorblindness kept him from flying planes, his brother who served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and this Uncle's 2 son's served in the Navy during "Nam. My other cousin who served in the Navy during 'Nam. My 2 younger brothers , one in the Air Force as a staff sgt. and the other in the Army in Korea both during 'Nam. All of these men were profoundly affected by their military experience and each came back home a totally different person - non for the better. War is hell and each who serve makes the ultimate sacrifice that leaves scars that last lifetimes. We need to have peace.

I’m happy to see you using “affordable” tools like Vevor and Banks/Harbor Freight. A lot of creators seem to go crazy with outrageous expensive tools sent to them and make others think they need to spend stupid amounts of money on them. I have mainly Harbor Freight and restored older tools and couldn’t be happier. I get the same end result as the same folks with tens of thousands of dollars in new name brand tools. Love your videos and that was an amazing project. I’d love to see more build type videos but I still enjoy the restoration videos as well.

    Hi Barry,
You commented about the ineffectiveness of your table saw for this project. David on the 'Make Something' channel just recently posted a video on how to take an inexpensive contractor's saw and make it into a truly functional table saw. Take a look at that before you buy a new/newer one. The title of the episode is "Cheap to Elite: Transforming a Cheap Table Saw into a Professional Cabinet Saw."

You did a good job. One thing to think about, though, is the time it took you to prepare the wood for use. Poplar is the cheapest prepared wood you can buy. Ask yourself, "Which is more valuable-- my time or my money?" This is a question for you to ask yourself and I can't answer it for you. I do find pallet board builds a lot of fun, though. Good job again!

great feedback. part of the reason for doing this was to use my planers that i don't often use. I also wanted to learn a few things the hard way, since I'm new to woodworking. i completely agree with you

So absolutely beautiful, Barry! I can see all the love you put in this piece. It brought back so many memories of my Grandpa who served in WWII. He was my Buddy. Fortunately he lived to be just shy of 93 by 5 days. His Great-Great-Granddaughters loved listening to his stories as they were hearing first hand the stories they were learning in their history classes in high school. Again, this piece is so very beautiful! Hopefully, it will be a part of your history in your family, too.

Barry, I love your content. If you ever have the chance to go to Normandy and visit where our U.S. troops invaded Europe it will bring you to tears. To stand on Juno Beach, Sword Beach, Gold Beach, Utah Beach, and Omaha Beach it will bring you to tears. The U.S. cemetery in Normandy is the only soil deeded to the U.S. in a foreign country. Only behind our lord and savior Jesus Christ, to stand there is to understand the true meaning of sacrifice. These men knew they were not coming home alive.

I have several family members and friends that served in service to our country. My father was a Korean War veteran that served 22 months on the Frontline as a sharpshooter. God bless and sincere thanks to all who have served so we could be free. I know it isn't a desired or easy thing to endure. ❤

What an amazing video, brother. Everyone should visit Arlington. What a solemn place. I remember my trip. Many family members have served. We recently buried my Father in Law, retired Army Major, Korean War Vet, Green Beret, 101st Airborne, and some short years ago, my Step Father, Coast Guard CWO 4, Vietnam Vet. Many uncles, my brother (Army), and myself (Air Force), served our nation. What a heart felt tribute you have created. You have inspired me to create something for my family, as well. Thank you.

I love your projects. I appreciate your talent for building, storytelling, & especially your love for your grandfathers.
However, I wish I hadn’t seen this video. At points I had to stop it because I was crying so hard.
As humans we have come so far with some things, like ‘technology’, yet at other’s we have not progressed at all.
I can not fathom the atrocities of human against human & have never have been able to do so. I can not fathom how we do not honor the preciousness of ALL Life. We still find it acceptable to kill. It happens every day, everywhere.
What must happen for us to use technology for the true benefit of the All?
    …to use words, not bullets & bombs…
    …to choose Peace?
    I pray Peace every day.
    SINCERELY,
    Rev. Kevin

Timely post for us here in Australia. 25th April is ANZAC Day, which is the Australian and New Zealand day for remembering and celebrating our service men and women. This date in 1915 was when our troops landed in Gallipoli during WWI and what we call our ANZAC legend was born.
Beautifully crafted container for your memories. Wonderful to watch.

Hello! My father was shot down over Germany Feb 24th 1944. He was a radio operator on the Flying Fortress B24 bomber. He landed in a farmers field and the man came after him with his pitchfork and dog. He spent 18 months as a POW. He was in 3 different stalag camps. The Germans kept them on a March from camp to camp so the Americans couldn’t find them. There’s so much more to this story. Although he didn’t get a Purple Heart 💜 he should have!

The piece turned out beautifully! Thank you for sharing the places you visited. Arlington and the Tomb of the Unknowns is truly a humbling experience. My grandfather served in Egypt in WWII, and my uncle in the Coast Guard, and I completely agree that while war is not to be celebrated the heroism and selflessness of those who served must never be forgotten!

May I simply agree with what @joyceclark8476 said. My father was in the Navy and I was raised with awe and respect for what this country is supposed to be. Your video touched me as well and the tribute was so touching and beautiful.

Projects with this level of personalization are always outstanding; they become keepsakes for now and treasures to hand down later to your younger family members. What a nice tribute to the men in your family who have served this country. Good job, indeed, Barry! Cheers from Oklahoma!!!

Amazing! My father was in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He never really talked about his time while serving, but he definitely believed everyone should serve in a y way 5hey can, even if it's volunteering for local charities. ❤

This project is very moving and brings such ambivalence to me. You see, my father is almost 98 and should have been in WWII, but he was a rebel and a conscientious objector, but not religious. He spent a long time in prison because he refused to go to war. He and the others in prison with him staged a hunger strike so that when he got out at the end of the war, he was fairly emaciated. After the war he worked with Church World Service taking supplies and animals to war-torn Europe. I had one uncle who was in some branch of the service in the Korean War, but no one else that I know of on either side of my family.
As a teenager, we moved to a tiny town with a Friends church in it. I met my husband and later realized Quakers are non-violent. Two of his uncles served in Korea, I think, but they refused to fight, so were medics.
Even though I can’t claim to have a lot of relatives who served our country like many people here in the comments, I am very thankful for those who have fought for my freedom, while at the same time I have angst about war in general and our country’s involvement in a lot of the conflict we have been in. In modern times wars seem to be mostly generated by greed and power hungry people, not by men of noble character wanting to free the oppressed.
I love your work, Barry, and especially the quality of your character. You are a wonderful, caring and noble man.
