Technically you should since the timing cover bolts to the pan gasket which is not reusable but personally I wouldn't I'd just run a bead of rtv at the bottom of the timing cover before putting it on
Very in depth but I dont thing the cross member needs to be dropped. Pretty sure ac compressor mount, water pump and crank pulley are all that needs to be removed

I didn’t think you needed to drop the pan for just the timing cover on the ls engines

So much unneeded work to pull the cover. Half the stuff you removed is unnecessary.
