    I know this is a video but this is one reason why I'm a big fan of Tactical Bassin and you two guys. I'm upgrading my spinning rod and reel finally, not crazy upgrade but more then what I have now. I knew somewhere in you guys video library there was one on rods. I have reel and I needed that one rod to match it with. Great info as always, stay safe.

    Hell yeah just got up and a new tactical bassin video in the morning. My day just started and this video made my day even better. Thank you for making video and please keep making more! The most under rated best bass information in RUclips. I actually like it better with the low subscribers so only I can know all your technique to myself and catch all those fish. If too many people watch your video then it's going to be less fish for me. Lol like if you agree.

  • @MonsterChuck
    @MonsterChuck 7 лет назад

    First off.... you guys are easily the BEST and most informative fishing channel on RUclips. I am not sure how you don't have more subscribers but keep at it and you are going to blow up.
    Second... I would like to see you guys review a 13 Fishing reel. Honestly anything from their Inception up in the line would be great. The reason I would like to know your opinion is because I tested out a Shimano Aldebaran and a Lew's Team Pro Magnesium (about $700 in reels) through the Tackle Warehouse demo program. I was more impressed with the Lew's but I prefer my 13 Fishing Inception reels over both of them. I am so impressed with the Inception, I have purchased a couple of them and even pre-ordered the Concept Z. Something about these reels feels solid to me and allow me to cast further than even the more expensive reels I have demoed.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад

      Its tough because everyone has a different opinion. I've fished the Concept A's and C's quite a bit. I just didn't fall in love with them enough to make a purchase. They just didn't stand out to me... but that's just one guy's opinion. -Matt

      James, I have a TFO Gary Loomis tactical cranking rod and it is a blast to fish with, the one I have is supposed to be a 7'9" medium mod-fast but it'll handle things almost like a medium heavy rod, works flawless for bigger cranks, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and small umbrella rigs. Used it also for 90 size whopper ploppers and it id wonders keeping fish pegged. Hope it helps.

    I'm a big band loyalist when it comes to rods. As I know what to expect with the rods I buy. With that said I love the weight and sensitivity of Kistler Rods. The Stradic Ci4+ on a Helium 3 is the lightest, most sensitive combo I have ever felt. I also enjoy the KLX series rods with the Okuma Helios SX or Lew's Custom Pro reels

    Can you make a bluegill baits buyer's guide? In most of the lakes I fish, pumpkinseed sunfish (and crawdads) is the main prey of bass. Can you make more videos about fishing bluegill/sunfish lakes, specifically for trophy bass? You have a video about bluegill imitating baits, but I would like to watch an updated one, and specifically about catching big bass.

Have it with a 3000 size reel with 10lb braid 12lb leader and to use with 1/4oz and 3/16oz football jig heads for finnesse fishing and the shorter 4 inch senkos and 3inch, poppers, strike king pond magic spinner baits and buzzbaits, etc style lures.

    Just wondering if you guys fished the Caius. Im planning to buy a new combo (budget angler) for finesse/jerk bait/topwater(poppers) fishing and I was just wondering if the caius is a good reel for casting smaller baits.
    Here's what my combo could be
    Rod: Shimano Exage - 6'10 medium
    Reel: Shimano Caius 151
    Line: 30lb suffix 832 - 10lb mono leader

    Guys, how would you compare the expride (2017) 7'2 heavy casting vs. the various f6-f6.5 powered MB orochi xx rods? Esp in terms of weight and balance?
    So far the new exprides have blown me away, I have a 7'2 MH spinner and a 6'8 MH casting rod, phenomenal blanks at that price point, but now with all the orochis on sale I'm wondering what heavy jig rod to get!

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад +1

      Great Question! The Orochis are great but I think the new Exprides have them beat on weight. I just looked on TW and the only Orochi it looks like they have left is a 6'8" medium.

    • @lexm0
      @lexm0 7 лет назад +2

      Cooking and Fishing If you need a heavy jig rod but want to double it as a jig/frog/flipping rod get the Valdiva. But...if you want a dedicated jig rod(you can fish chatterbaits also) dude, oh my lord, get the FMJ. I have a FMJ rod and it eats anything alive Ive used prior. Loved it so much I had to pick up the Daemos also for chatterbaits and swimjigs.

    • @tacticalbassin

      It really is a matter of what your fish are eating and not water temp. Keep it simple with these colors
      1. crawdad/crayfish
      2. Shad or baitfish
      3. Ghost or clearer color for clear water
      4. Chartreuse or brighter color for stained or muddy water.

    Santa Claus is bringing me the new daiwa tatula lt 2500 spinning reel. Suppose to be competition to the CI4. Which I also own two of them 2500 on my glx 6’8” medium XF. Freaking love it. Then a 3000 on. 6’8” MH fast cumara rod. Love it. The new daiwa is for the mojo bass med lite Xf. That’s a nice cheaper rod. Love these rods. I have old GLX rods from when Gary still own the company with the titanium bendable guides. Those rods are just cheating lol. You feel everything with them. Mud sand wood rocks weeds.....fish. You know exactly what you are feeling.

    You guys absolutely HAVE to do this entire series again for 2019. Are the reel recommendations the same? Are the rod recommendations the same? If they are, it would be good to just see a video that says "hey, check out our 2017 video on this because the info remains the same". If it's different however, please update these! -mM

    Hey guys, as always awesome clip. I’m going to ask a dumb question but first let me explain. I recently had a fire in my house/garage and lost all of my fishing equipment, rods, lures, kayak EVERYTHING. I’m no where near as knowledgeable on rods and reels like you guys and I didn’t have top of the line stuff either but had 9-10 rods and lures I never used but bought because they looked pretty lol. Been fishing since I was a kid but really got back into it when I bought my kayak 1.5 years ago. My question is in your opinion can I get by with rod reel combos at 50-70$ range?? Like bass pro rods or combos online?? My insurance gave me some money but not the kind of money to buy 300$ combos. 400$ maybe 500$ budget for rods and reels. I wanted to get at least 4-6 rods/reels. I don’t do tournaments I just jump in the kayak and fish in and around Tuolumne county. Catch and release just love the sport. Cranking and drop shotting are probably my most favorite ways to fish. Sorry for the long comment I know you guys are busy just value your opinion and knowledge. Thanks again for doing what you guys do, please keep’em coming.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад

      You can catch fish with ANY gear. It gets easier with more sensitive equipment but don't let anyone tell you it can't be done. If that's your budget, run with it and have a blast! I actually used to live right on the Tuolumne, it flowed at the end of our yard. I miss that place, enjoy!

    Hey guys, I need a little help. I can't find anything on the "google machine" so I thought I would just ask you. I have two spinning rods, both are 1/8 to 3/8 oz rated, but one is a med light power xf action and the other is a medium power XF action. What is the difference in these two rods from a "fishability" (if that is a word) standpoint? Thank you and look forward to your reply.

    Good video.....I have a few Dobyns Fury casting rods....what is your opinion of the Dobyns Sierra series? I always hear people talking about the Champion series and the Fury series. Does it make sense for me to go from Fury to Sierra to upgrade or should I try to jump up the Champion series? Is the Sierra series a value at that $160-$170 mark?

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад

      We just ordered a Sierra to try out. Originally there was only the champion and champion extreme series. They added the sierra in between and i'm not sure why. The champion lineup is good and has a lot of technique specific models. If you can afford the Champion Id go with those. Sorry we haven't had a chance to check out the Sierras yet but soon.

      TacticalBassin I emailed Gary Dobyns a while back to pick his brain about the Sierra Series. Essentially it was created to replace the Savvy line but keep it in the same sub $180 price point. Same blanks as the Savvy but different guides (Fuji vs. Kigan) with some models now available in full-handle. I think they look very sexy with the light blue Dobyns logo.

    I use garbage from Favorite, and you wanna know what its good for? Breakage. Excellent rods if you're into 'transforming' a one piece rod into a 5 piece rod. Such an exciting brand, guys.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад

      Dang! We haven't tried them but hopefully they have a good warranty.

    • @Sticky_White_Stuff
      @Sticky_White_Stuff 7 лет назад +1

      Its just like 13fishing. They have a good warranty for two reasons. 1- They know for a fact their rods are junk (in the Favorite case, this applies to their reels as well), 2- Their rods cost them close to nothing to build, so if a person asks for a replacement, the replacement is so cheap that they do not care. The price inflation on the Favorite tackle is ridiculous.

    Be honest do you guys actually still fish a senko. I fished them for years like I think most of us did when Gary made us all look stupid cause who didn’t talk crap about the senko when it came out right 🤣 I’ve had atleast 100 maybe 200 packs of senko for a long time now I’ve actually tied one on several times in the past couple years but I just can’t do it anymore. It’s to expensive to every day burn threw several packs on 2lbers then maybe one big one id rather fish with something that might not catch 40 dink’s an maybe get an extra big girl are two.
