I was stationed on Okinawa during the mid 1980s. Bought one of these and rode it all over the island for three years. It was a fun little machine, great on gas (which was expensive), and even though it wasn’t a dirt bike it let me explore little trails though jungles where I couldn’t have taken a car. Good memories.
I had a QT50 when I was 16, passed my CBT on it I think, around 1992. She used to get coked up quite a bit, so I filed out the coke as I didnt know better. Strangely she got faster the more often I did the decoke. I suspect this is was my first experience of porting! I swear she hit 40mph once! Great bike, cost me 80 pence to fill the tank. I killed the shaft drive but I had a spare engine which I bought for 15 pounds. Swapped the shaft over and away she went again. Same engine as the kids PW50 trails bike.
I purchased a 1985 QT50 back in '86 or '87 from a friend in Tennessee. I was 18. I just got it back from storage at my parents' place a few months ago. I plan to post videos of it while trying to get it running in the next couple of weeks.
Fun Times Sir!... many years ago, aged 14 or 15, we used to ride stuff like this on waste land!!! No license or insurance - we were under age anyway - then used to push them back to a mates house. I was given a Lambretta LI 150 - pushed it to our house but my Mum wouldn’t let me keep it and told me take it straight back to where I got it from. I was really hissed off at the time!!!
I suggest you keep the original blue colour. It’s unique really. I’ve got one exactly like this, well, almost; it’s a 1984 model. It has a round headlamp and lacks the fuel level indicator under the seat. I have to get it running again! You’ve given me some inspiration to do it. The main issue is the carburetor is all gummed up. It started a few months ago but surges and stalls. Did you drain the tanks and clean them out? My concern is there’s probably a lot of corrosion in the tank and it may be flaking off bits of rust into the fuel and oil. I have a Suzuki FA50 which I’ve got running and I drive it around. Running a few tanks of fresh fuel through it has improved its running. Less finicky now. I will probably do a carburetor rebuild anyway because I think that there’s residual clogging in the carburetor since it won’t run up to top speed without the choke partially on. And that’s after resetting it to spec fuel/air mixture.
had one with pedals on it :D much fun when ya 14 :D we use to have it fully reved up holding the back wheel off the ground, then drop it and booom wheelie time lol
Thats cool mate. I had one of them when I was 16 it was a right laugh. Never gonna break a land speed record and I dont know if a big bore kit will do much so looking forward to seeing how you get on. I've been looking out for an old monkey bike funnily enough but they are mega bucks now.
Haha quality. I know it’s always going to be an antique scooter but a bit more power won’t go a miss 🔧😆 I had a 125 monkey bike a few years back funny things i think the Honda ones are the best you can get!
We had 1 of these back in the day:) and the Honda version for the fields lol 😂 this ain’t you first rodeo:) I tell people all the time GET IT MOT’ed before you throw any money at it :)
Dunno if you guys gives a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of days :)
Keep the tax disc holder for the retro look but put something else in / on it. Maybe a tube Darren sticker 👍 To brighten the garage up hang some white dust sheets on a bit of washing line and eyelets around the room. Hides your gear behind it so nosey potential thief’s can’t see your gear then point ya lights to get the best brightness out of the space 👍
I like it mate home made studio conversion!! I won’t be making vids from my garage though none the less lol. The tax disc holder is a good idea proper old Skool 💪👍

My mate used to say riding a scooter is like riding a fat bird..they're both great fun until someone you know see's ya👍😁
I ride both at the same time nothing to be ashamed of 😂😆
I've just seen an almost identical bike to yours in the film The Specialist. A lad delivers food to Sylvester Stallone on it .
Perfect, I’ll use that to my advantage for the next stage in my acting career then 😎
Ace video, I like the blue it is now, looks like it will be fun in the sun.
Thanks mate, I agree it is a nice blue and yeah can’t wait for the nicer weather!
