@@xxxTheDMCxxx very true. In all seriousness though, really helpful tutorial. There seems to be a lot of different ways to do walls so nice to have different methods depending on what your aiming for.
Hey DMC studios, good tutorial though bro...this helps me out cuz I barely started doing these brick walls, I'm still learning so I still make mistakes on making the lines and using too much water or not enough, but anyway, keep it up with the videos..
Have you considered using a heat gun or hair dryer to assist in drying? I'd probably be careful with the heat gun around foam, but a hair dryer might make your job a lot quicker.
No, never thought of that. Good idea, though like you said, would need to be careful. If I'm painting during the day, sometimes I'll leave the foam outside in the sunlight and that drys it up quick.
I’ve never used it on clay but I would assume so. Acrylic paints adhere very well to various surfaces, I’d just test it out on a small part just to be sure.
Hi! May I ask: can I do a base coat (using the brown used in dry brushing mixed with a bit of water) first before wet wash and dry brush? will it make a significant difference?
+Ng Jan Ile - If I understand you correctly: you want to first paint it brown then do a black wash and then do the dry brush. I don’t think it would make a difference because the black wash will cover up most of the base coat, depending on how thick your black wash is. But you never know. Experiment and see what happens. That’s how I usually find new techniques is just by doing it and seeing what happens. If you’re trying to add color, then drybrush both colors, that’s what i usually do. Drybrush a coat of one color then drybrush even lighter of another color.
+xxxTheDMCxxx ah thanks! i was asking of the first part of your answer! because a friend taught me the painting of diorama, and he suggested base coat>black wash>dry brush! thanks! i will try both methods! this video is really useful for a beginner like me! :D
Using that one won't come out great. It chips off easily. Use Testors or Citadel acrylics if you want to black wash figures. They bond to the plastic very well. Keep the Applebarrell for dioramas. 👍🏼
They work for a quick job. But in the long run it'll fall apart. Stick with the ones you mentioned. Those are quality paints and will make your figures look great.
10:16 pressing crumpled up tin foil into the foam works great for those wondering.
It does! I also use another method to go along with that.
@@xxxTheDMCxxx Using somewhat rough rocks/pebbles is a good way to get the deeper pits in the foam as well ;)
What I took from this is that you really like paper towels and don't want to waste any. Ever.
Waste not, want not, my friend.

Great video man you are hilarious and informative.
Thanks! I appreciate that. Hopefully I’ll have some new content soon.
DMC Studios hopefully you can show us how you did the texture on the bricks. That would be awesome.
Appreciate your candor. I do waste too many paper towels lol
Nice job thank you! You tube is great it’s better then going back to school
I Love Pink too
My man!
Was gonna like the video but it's at 420 and I could never ruin that
Thanks for that shout. Good tutorial.
Subbed. Always like checking out vids of people in the craft.
Thanks Bob! Just giving credit where credit is due.
Thanks for the tutoria! Can I use the same method for action figures?
Thank you good video.
Well done sir.
Thanks bro!

Will do, thanks!

How do you sculpt the walls they look sick!!
All you need is pink insulation foam, a t-square ruler and a sharp razor blade.
What's the difference with black wash and someone use mixture of modge pod and black for their base coat? (I am a Nobbie)
This may be long time ago but...
Will this work on air dry clay because I'm sculpting an action figure and I want to paint it with detail.

Can I use applebarrel for blackwashing the new ML Deadpools belt? Or do I need to buy a more expensive paint for it?

+DMC Studios aight got it! Thanks a lot man! I was planning to buy citadel or vallejo but I saw on other videos that applebarrel works lol.

DMC Studios How about painting guns ? because I used citadel and it scratches..
Are you sealing them?
What type of paint good for diorama ?
Any acrylic paint should be fine. I use acrylic paint found at Walmart and Michael’s.
how you cut that walls?
With either a razor or x-acto knife. Make sure you use a new blade and switch it out after a while.
LOL @5:23
+NcurableKollector lol yeah
NcurableKollector yup that was kinda hilarious..
Jason Benavente - hope you're laughing with me and not at me lol
DMC Studios don't worry bro, I'm laughing with you..lol
to much talk not enough work
Too much talking
Then how am I supposed to explain how to do it?
