- The fates of Caterpillarhug, his sister Metallicstar, and his entire Clan are about to change when the soft, aspiring-vegan warrior finds a lone baby squirrel half-buried in the snow of leaf-bare.

WOOO. Oh my GOODNESS this was a wild ride. Two months of tireless animating later, I finally pieced together my first ever AMV (Sort of PMV, too? Limited animation? Whatever you wanna call it).
This is about my warriors OC Acorntail, and pretty much her entire backstory. Most of the cats here don't matter, except for the black-and-white cat with a flower (Caterpillarhug), the tuxedo she-cat leader (Metallicstar) who is Caterpillarhug's sister, and the scarred-up orange cat (Sparkflame) who's really only important because he popped in, gave Acorntail some trauma, and popped out.
Also, that first squirrel she kills is actually her mother, who was also part of her first hunt as an apprentice! She's able to tell Acornpaw she's her mom right before she dies, but Acornpaw chooses to keep this to herself. Not because she feels bad about killing her mom (being with a cat Clan has erased all her affection for fellow squirrels; she only sees them as prey now), but because she knows Caterpillarhug would feel supremely guilty and would think he drove her to murder her own mom. So she sweeps it under the rug and just tells everyone it's an unrelated squirrel.
Since my storytelling breaks down near the end, I'll just answer some possible misconceptions: No, Acorntail does not start murdering her own Clanmates. The cats she kills are intruding kittypets, loners, and rogues (along with a bunch of prey squirrels). She just ends up resorting to violence far faster than any other cat, which concerns basically everyone, especially Metallicstar. And no, she does not get exiled; as per the code, which states you can kill anyone "outside the warrior code," it is interpreted that she is not guilty of any codebreaking and thus not prime for exile. And also, that transition near the end may make it seem like the purple flower is the grave for the cats she's killed, but no. It's the grave for Caterpillarhug.
And who is that guy at the end that we haven't seen throughout the whole AMV?...That's Redwhisker, my warrior fox OC! He and Acorntail are from different Clans (RiverClan and WindClan, respectively), but they end up becoming friends due to their shared experiences of being noncats. Oooh- I suppose I should also summarize the story for anyone who doesn't already know these OCs. Warning, I type a shit ton and always delve way more into detail than I should, so this comment is long. Like, really long.
The story actually starts well before the AMV, and well before Acorntail is born. Caterpillarkit and Metallickit were born in WindClan to an unwilling mother who was pressured into the birth, and dipped out of the family early despite the backlash from her Clan for doing so. She never liked her mate or wanted kits and was very young to have a family, so she just couldn't really handle it. The father, meanwhile, was a bit older and more seasoned, and did his best to love his kits, but he was not at all emotionally or mentally prepped to support them well - and the Clan did not allow him to be a den dad to take care of them, so he was often pulled away on warrior duties. This made the two siblings have to rely on each other emotionally, and they developed a very close bond.
Caterpillarkit idolized his father, thinking that society was unfair to him and that he did his best with what he had. He wanted to be like him (or at least, be like the pure image of him he'd built up in his head). Meanwhile, Metallickit had a much more practical view, seeing her mother and father as equally good/bad. She believed their society had slighted both parents (by pressuring the mother into having children, and not properly educating the father on how to raise kits and not letting him even try). This caused her to be basically the equivalent of a Warrior Cats feminist, and she dedicated herself to rise through the ranks without a mate or kits to try to change their society to be more accepting. She succeeded and became Metallicstar, while Caterpillarhug stayed as a warrior.
Caterpillarhug, due to his very innocent and naive nature, had troubles hunting. Half the time he chickened out and let the prey go, as he had a very optimistic and loving view of the world and empathized even with prey. He was regularly chastised by his entire Clan for this, including his sister, but Metallicstar allowed him to continue the behavior without punishment due to her love for him. This came to a head when he discovered a lone baby squirrel in the snow (that had fallen out of her nest) during leaf-bare (Which is where the AMV starts). He already had troubles killing adult animals, so when he saw a tiny helpless baby soon to succumb to the cold or predators, there really was nothing he could do to stop himself from carebearing it.
Initially he tried to raise the squirrel, who he nicknamed Acorn, away from the Clan in secret. He'd sneak out of camp or slink away during patrols to bring her food, and kept her hidden and tucked in a bush. However, inevitably, one of his Clanmates found her in there while on a hunting patrol with him, and was about to kill her before Caterpillarhug stepped in and defended Acorn. He was forced to bring Acorn to camp to answer for his behavior, and as he admitted to keeping the squirrel alive he was scolded and made fun of, and when he requested to let her in the Clan he was thought to be insane. But Metallicstar loved Caterpillarhug and recognized that he was an outcast in the Clan, with no friends other than her (and she was quite busy as leader). So she allowed him to keep Acorn, now dubbed Acornkit, in the Clan for companionship, since he had no one else. It caused what can best be described as a riot, but Metallicstar did not back down, and the Clan could not go against their leader. She did develop some resentment against Caterpillarhug for "making" her do this, though.
Caterpillarhug became a den dad by permission of Metallicstar, and began to raise Acornkit alone. They were ostracized by the Clan and often made fun of, not just because Acornkit was a squirrel (though that was the biggest reason) but also because Caterpillarhug was the first den dad the Clan had seen in a long time, and that made the both of them stick out like a sore thumb even more than they already did. Acornkit, in the face of all this demonization and hate, started to idolize a warrior named Sparkflame - a very beloved, socially wealthy senior warrior in their Clan. She believed that, if she modeled herself after him, she could be just as popular and beloved as him too, and no one would hate her anymore.
After weeks of fawning over Sparkflame from a distance, Acornkit worked up the courage to walk up to him and talk to him and ask him about his life and how he became so famous. Sparkflame, though, was not as eager to be talking to the Clan's local disappointment. Noticing that Caterpillarhug was far away from Acornkit at the moment, he took the opportunity and attacked her in broad daylight. Caterpillarhug heard Acornkit's screams, saw what had been done to her, and came running. He attacked Sparkflame while everyone else around the warrior seemed to not care that Acornkit had been abysmally injured; in fact, they were laughing at her and praising Sparkflame. They were shocked when the usually-peaceful Caterpillarhug pinned Sparkflame on the ground, and he was quickly wrenched off.
Sparkflame immediately complained to Metallicstar, demanding to have Caterpillarhug punished, while Caterpillarhug was in the medicine den trying to comfort the emotionally-destroyed Acornkit. Metallicstar knew deep down her brother was in the right for defending the squirrel who was practically his daughter at this point, but her authority and leadership was starting to be threatened by all the negative opinions about Acornkit, so she ended up punishing both Sparkflame and Caterpillarhug in an attempt to appease her riled-up Clanmates.
When Acornpaw was made an apprentice, she was naturally apprenticed to Caterpillarhug, as he was the only cat who would take her. So on and on the moons went, with Caterpillarhug training her to hunt and fight. Acornpaw's ferocity due to her hatred for how she had been treated started to be noticed by her Clanmates, and they saw how she actually became a good hunter and fighter because of it. In effect, she became more tolerated.
However, when Acornpaw was an older apprentice, a horrible rogue attack struck camp, catching WindClan off-guard. Acornpaw tried to find Caterpillarhug during the fight, but a rogue attacked her before she could. Caterpillarhug swooped in and fought to defend her, but was thusly swarmed by rogues while Acornpaw had no choice but to hide and watch. After the fight, his corpse was discovered and he was deemed dead from the attack.
This ends up pretty much breaking Acornpaw. Even as Metallicstar offered to force another cat to become her mentor, or even offers to mentor her herself, Acornpaw refused and continued her training alone. She believed, and believes to this day, that Caterpillarhug was the only cat who would ever truly love her, since he raised her. Therefore she believes there is no point in trying to get anyone else to like her from this point on, as they will never truly love or understand her like he did.
So she stops trying to appease her Clan and allows her anger from her grief to drive her entirely. She becomes loud, obnoxious, careless, and inconsiderate. She turns to violence extremely fast, and while she never kills or injures her own Clanmates, she does kill an inordinate amount of rogue and kittypet intruders, even when they are cooperative or aren't a threat. Her Clan begins to fear her and her ferocity, which is exactly what she wants; in her eyes, since she can never gain their love, the next best thing to gain is their respect through their fear.
Metallicstar tries to comfort her and to bring her back to her older, nicer self, but Acorntail refuses. Her ferocity and bloodlust scares even the stoic and cold leader, and Metallicstar has no idea how to help her due to her own incompetency with her and others' emotions. Metallicstar quickly gives up trying to save her niece from herself.
Acorntail, despite building a ferocious reputation for herself - which is something she's always wanted - she knows deep down that she will never be fulfilled since Caterpillarhug is dead and no one truly loves her or wants to be around her. At least, until Redwhisker comes into her life, which is where the backstory ends.

Oh shit this AMV nearly had me in tears. Nice to know this is Grayrose’s role model... even if Acorntail is exceptionally violent. Damn, this is one good AMV; my new favorite one too.
This makes more sense. I was a rc cat named Ant’Hill a day or so ago and Acorn’Tail was leader. They said to watch this to get a better backstory and I love it so much.

You know what. I'm not a huge person for non cats, but this backstory is very interesting. It shows how different animals can make connections with each other even if they're different.
I just have a biased opinion because of the people I normally rp with, but truthfully I have nothing against non cats. I'm just a realistic roleplayer and get a little bewildered. Though at times, when I voice my bewilderment non cat players get angry with me, so I try to stay nuetral now. I have non cat ocs myself, and they're very interesting to rp, so I do understand the feeling of freedom when you do rp as them.
I appreciate you being able to recognize OCs like that, and even if noncats aren't totally your thing, I'm glad you respect them and give them courtesy. Sometimes noncats can get defensive over any type of questions about their species due to the harassment they receive, and it can feel mean to the asker, but just know that there's nothing wrong with asking questions as long as you're nice about it. So thank you for checking out the video and leaving a positive and thought-out comment, I really do appreciate your openmindedness.
@@swanfeathertheelder Of course. I'm trying to be more open minded towards every one, seeing how we all have different likes and dislikes. The harassing that's happened to non cats does suck, no one really deserves to be treated that way. Although, as you said non cat rpers can react negatively to questions/opinions that us realistic rpers have, resulting in an argument. I think once a dog rper called my group of friends "racist" because we didn't want them to join the clan, these types of people tarnish the look of non cat rpers, but I know not every single one is like that.
@@meloncat1257 Yeah. Believe me, many noncat rpers have grown to heavily dislike it when people have the audacity to equivalate racism with noncat hate. It’s disrespectful, both to sufferers of racism and of people who don’t like noncats. Many noncats are genuinely friendly people, and sadly some people believe that all noncats are overdramatic, but I’m glad you can see both ends of the spectrum. Harassment towards anyone is never okay, noncat or not.
The mother sorta reminds me of my oc Looming' Shade in a way, she's also a mother who was pressured into having a mate and having kits. Though she took out her anger in a very unhealthy way.

The expressions are so recognizable! And trust me, it’s HARD for me to make mixed expressions like sad/disturbed without making it look like a different expression! The non-cat thing is such a great idea and everything about the story screams creativity!

Animation has potential, I’ll give you that, you’re doing a good job in that field. Personally as a Forest territory veteran the whole noncat thing puts me on edge. Personally I feel it takes away all the nostalgia and feeling from the first games when you could only play as cats. Now I know some of the noncat role players are not all bad but it is very off putting to see things like mice, rabbits, even dragons or orcas. Basically animals that are seen as prey, joining and being apart of majority cat clan. The creativity is great for those animals but it’s just really odd.

Yeah. I can understand it's very off-putting when you're hit by it; I sure as hell wasn't 100% on-board when I first joined Ultimate Edition. I guess the most important thing to do is keep an open mind and realize there may be scenarios where you like it, and I can see you're already doing that, which is great. And thank you very much, even if I'm not an expert and have to go at a low framerate, I still feel very proud of this and I'm glad you like it too :)

@@jenn1214 They weren’t, lol. When I joined that server, it had no medicine cat, deputy, or leader, and everyone was pretty much sitting around, either in rp or oorp, waiting for the Clan to die. I took charge since no one else offered when I asked, and they were pretty nasty, constantly insulting and mocking me even though I was just trying to do my duties and get the Clan back on its feet.
Fast forward to an hour later, though, and the Clan was prospering and active. So…maybe one should judge a leader based on whether or not they can get the job done rather than their species.

can I ask how Acorntail killed cats? I thought it was just her being a maniac in dead bodies but now im curious, cause i dont think a squirrelt could really leave wounds those prominent in a cat even if it did manage to kill, not trying to be rude! Just very confused
Hello! No worries. It’s been a while since I did anything with Acorntail, but to explain best I can, she uses a fighting tactic where she scores a lot of small wounds on top of one another to eventually rip shallow, but large, gashes that spurt lots of blood. It’s risky because it relies on her not getting her small body caught, but cats aren’t usually used to fighting squirrels, which gives her at least somewhat of an edge. If that doesn’t sound realistic, that’s fine; she was never meant to be 100% believable. ^^

This is amazing! I love the story and honestly I can say you’ve improved so much just through this amv! One quick question, what did you use to make this?
FlipaClip was used to draw and animate, while Filmmaker Pro was just used to edit in the final audio :) I do have a much better drawing program than FlipaClip, but it’s not an animation program, so I would’ve made me have to export from the drawing program and import into FlipaClip every drawing over and over again. I could deal with that for an animation meme but not for an entire amv LMAO
