Military service is designed to break down the man, to condition him to horror, to act without remorse, to react in danger without thought of yourself, but for your fellow soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Remorse comes later, after the war is over. The military after WW1 and WW2, Vietnam Korea, Gulf 1991, Iraq 03, Afghanistan 01 to now has aspects that are still identical.
The main aspect that has not changed, when you enter the military service, they break you down and indoctrinate you into the cult. It's designed that way, the easy life is to stay there all your life, it's great life, simple, hard, with rewards openly given. Leaving the military is difficult because they don't teach you to be a civilian again. One day, you're just out, and on your own, that hurts the most. Trust me, I'm speaking from my own experience.

I think Tommy’s military service has a lot to do with what he turned into. He became ruthless and jaded yes; but he was also very well trained making him more dangerous to those who had little to no training with blades and firearms. A lot of times service men who leave and go back to the hood use their new found training as a benefit to fighting rival gangs. Also it helps with structuring; a gang member who is a veteran is more likely to follow orders since that’s how he was trained.

I think Tommy's biggest problem was just how many excuses he kept giving himself to be his worst self. Burning bridges, betraying Kimber, goading Alfie, ticking off Sabini nonstop, instigating the police etc... I swear if he hadn't hoarded those guns barely any of the bad stuff that happened later would have happened. Sure he rose to the occasion when the challenge presented, but only ever just barely by the skin of his teeth. His intelligence though is truly something to behold, and the few moments where he is a genuinely decent person are a treasure. The problem with underhanded tactics in a world of cutthroat's is that they will often do it right back to you, but Tommy somehow always seems surprised by this.

You should do James Keziah Delaney from Taboo. Great show even though it only got one season, and an amazing protagonist

Would love to see you cover some more MCU villains, specifically Purple Man (Jessica Jones Netflix series), Kingpin (Daredevil Netflix series) and High Evolutionary (GOTG3). They’re undoubtedly among the most evil enemies of that entire franchise.

@@johnalbertwrestling I didn’t care much for that movie, but I agree he was such a great villain. That actor stole the scene whenever he appeared. 🐉

You should do one also on the Black Lodge Entities from Twin Peaks, as human suffering literally makes their food taste better. Lol.

That actor doesn't talk a lot in the series, but damn he uses the power of silence so well... Everything is in his eyes, and his way of handling himself

Tommy Shelby is scary in terms of how calm and methodical an operator he is but for me the scariest of all the Peaky Blinders is Arthur Shelby the eldest brother. Arthur is just downright terrifying.

out of his whole family i feel like thomas is the only person that has such high ambitions. he is very intelligent and calculated and he has a certain charme to him as well, whether he is aware of it or does it unintentionally it also plays a factor into him getting the things he wants. he is a force that noone wants to reckon with and he makes it known for everyone to not play him or he will be dealt with. i think cillian played this role really well and i couldnt imagine someone else playing this character to be honest

Great channel! I discovered you yesterday after finally finishing the Sopranos and finding your video on Tony. I think it could be interesting to make a video about Don Draper from Man Men, who isn't violent like Tony Soprano or Tommy Shelby but is still hugely manipulative to family and coworkers.
Edit: Another suggestion just came to mind - MODOK from the recent stop-motion TV show. It's a comedy, but MODOK still acts like a villain at the expense of everyone around him.
