I think the Major Mitchell’s (Leadbeater’s) Cockatoo is the most spectacular, but whatever pet you have is probably the most beautiful. My Angel is a Sulphur-Crested that we adopted, and she’s always been a bit of a feather-chewer, so she’s not going to win any contests, but she is beautiful to me!
When I worked with parrots, there was one woman I met who had a citron / galah cross. Was not even aware that was possible??? But he definitely didn't look like any other cockatoo that I'd seen. Mostly soft grey and creamsicle orange. Really soft, medium length crest, just an incredibly cool bird. Sweet as hell, too.
Well....however many negative comments on here, I'm still very grateful to the people who filmed it. I would never have the opportunity to see these beautiful birds otherwise.
I have citron crested cockatoo. It’s very sweet and isn’t much of a challenge. They can be annoying to some people. They will scream as soon as you leave the cage. I let mine out everyday and he watches television with us. He likes wood to graze on so we supply him with it as much as we can. It seems to comfort him. Not once have I been bite by him. They can cause major damage to your house if left unsupervised. Other than that, a very pretty loving bird.
My Lesser was very playful. He didn't bite me, but he would play at it. I would put my hand over his head and he would rear up and say, "You better not bite me". Then, he would start laughing and bob his head, and say, "Bad Cockatoo". "Bad, bad Cockatoo". I broke him of the biting when he was very young, when I was hand rearing him. So, he made a playful event of it with his talking and personality as he grew up.

*IMPORTANT WARNING FOR PET BIRD OWNERS:* The food that we normally give to the canaries (and other companion birds) consisting of a "complete, balanced and top-quality seeds mixture" bought in pet stores or malls, makes the owners trust that their pet is well fed, but it's not so: indeed the birds health is at serious risk. WE MUST PAY ATTENTION TO DOMESTIC BIRD BREEDERS AND VETS and keep in mind that although we feed them with such a typical seeds mixture, our birds are very likely in danger of suffering a painful and unexpected *PREMATURE DEATH BY FATTY LIVER DISEASE.* Canaries, for example, will surely die at 4 - 7 years of age of the more than 15 that they can live. This is so because *the typical mixture contains low-fat seeds such as canary seed together with other VERY fatty seeds such as niger, hemp or nabine and, in addition, the birds usually prefer to eat the fatty seeds* so that their REAL DIET is unbalanced by excessive fat, gradually causes the fatty infiltration of the liver and in a few years causes fatty liver hepatitis and PREMATURE DEATH to pet birds. *Also the fruits because its sugars and specially the breeding paste and its pigments and THE SUNFLOWER SEEDS ATTACK THE LIVER* if they are taken too much or for too long. FLD IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF ILLNESS AND PREMATURE DEATH ON PET BIRDS; It's sad that pet birds are fated to die early and painfully in so many cases. You have to warn people to avoid it! It's a cruel disease that progresses silently and, when its unexpected symptoms begin, they are easily confused with other ailments so the owners usually postpone the visit to the vet at a time already critical for the life of the bird (besides that not all vets are trained to recognize this elusive and misleading disease, even to administer lipotropic and regenerative liver protectors in curative doses, just in case it's that and not a supposed blow). It's a process of slow and asymptomatic progression, but when its visible symptoms begin (acute phase) the disease accelerates. *SYMPTOMS OF THE ACUTE PHASE OF FATTY LIVER DISEASE:* First, overgrowth of beak and nails since months before, progressive sadness and/or pecking, hard belly (in many cases, with a dark spot with a half-moon shape on the belly, which seems a "tumor", to see it you have to wet your fingers to remove the down), falls from the sticks of the cage that seem for "errors of calculation" and then lameness (that make believe that they are by the previous falls, but both symptoms are due to that it hurts the liver), lack of flight and singing, the bird fluffs up his feathers or bends more or less slowly; Then, within a few weeks or a few days, heavy breathing with open beak, remaining lying on the floor of the cage near the food, sudden spasms from time to time (which make people believe that the bird is "epileptic" but it are twinges of pain of diseased liver), abundant greenish poop (caused by biliverdin which if it's not fasting, it means hepatic harm), then black and watery (from hepatic hemorrhages), then a strange purplish color of skin and beak, an excessive appetite and the final "improvement" of a few days (in the last phase, the already degenerated liver becomes deflated by what the bird seems to ameliorate), after which it suddenly dies among seizures (which may seem a "heart infarct" or a "stroke"). For the first symptoms the liver has already degenerated to 80% *but an urgent (and accurate) vet action can save your bird and revert the liver situation.* So in addition to giving to the birds lipotropic and detox / regenerating hepatic protectors preventively and routinely, breeders usually make their own mixtures with low fat seeds. *PREVENTION AND/OR TREATMENT:* The time to act is NOW that your bird doesn’t show yet the visible symptoms. It's necessary to ACTIVELY PREVENT THE LIVER DEGENERATION. Fortunately it's easy to do it: *It's very advisable to substitute progressively (within some weeks, as per the instructions of the manufacturer) the mixture of loose seeds for some pellets compound food of seeds, fruits and vegetables (preferably those that already include liver protectors), because this prevents the bird from filtering and eating mostly the fatty seeds (but without insisting if the bird does not get accustomed to eating pellets because he could die for starvation within a few days).* *And, whatever the diet, it's CRUCIAL to add to the drinking water or to the food LIPOTROPIC LIVER PROTECTORS that include: CARNITINE AND /OR CHOLINE, BETAINE, METHIONINE, etc. It's very convenient to add DETOX / REGENERATING LIVER PROTECTORS with THISTLE MILK, BOLDO, ARTICHOKE EXTRACT.* Liver protectors are not medicine but cheap food supplements manufactured by pet bird vet laboratories that remove the fat from the liver, clean it and favor its recovery. It's essential to add them to the pet birds diet to conserve their liver. It are appearing in the market compound feed for pet birds that don’t include fatty seeds and that already include several liver protectors. Webs on FLD: www.beautyofbirds.com/liverdisease.html Liver disease is a slow, on-going progressive disease where the liver tissue is replaced with fat. When the liver disease has progressed, the bird may suddenly appear ill. www.lovinghands.com/forms/Hepatic%20Lipidosis%20-%20Fatty%20Liver%20Disease.pdf One of the sadder diseases many avian vets see is that of hepatic lipidosis or fatty liver disease. It's sad in a number of ways since often the birds are very ill, life-threateningly so, or possibly having died suddenly. Often the owners have been unaware of the dangers of feeding their beloved pet the seeds, peanuts, or other fatty foods the bird obviously loves to eat. These are truly cases of "loving your bird to death". Any bird can fall victim to fatty liver disease. www.researchgate.net/publication/46105643_Treating_liver_disease_in_the_avian_patient Dietary deficiencies of lipotrophic factors such as choline, biotin, and methionine may decrease the transport of lipids from the liver. www.researchgate.net/publication/47716286_Valoracion_de_las_afectaciones_hepaticas_en_aves_ornamentales The clinical manifestations of hepatic diseases in ornamental birds are much more frequent than people could imagine and in many cases they are not appreciated, progress in a silent way and when they are evident, vet action may arrive late. Most any avian symptomatology should be considered as if it was a pathology that could be serious, and not allow the disease to develop because then it will probably be too late. A limp in a bird is not always an injury caused by a blow, but the symptom of a disease of some organ (usually the liver or an intestinal disease) that needs to be discovered and treated ASAP. When in doubt, change diet to one with the lowest fat possible (only birdseed, or with other low-fat seeds such as millet, quinoa, chia and vegetables) and administer lipotropic and regenerating liver protectors in curative doses immediately... although nothing could foresee a fatal outcome. There are also food supplements protectors of the intestinal mucosa and stimulants of the immune system. In doses according to the leaflets do not cause damage, it will surely save the life of your bird (if it's not too late), and will keep them with a basic wellness.

So many inaccuracies in this video! It's laughable! 😂🙄 For starters, narrator says "The blue eyed cockatoo is found in the forests of New Britain and Ireland". Ummm - New Britain is an island off Papua New Guinea (with "Ireland" having nothing to do with it, being thousands of miles away near GREAT Britain). And Galah is pronounced "Gah-laa" not "gala" 🙄
I just loved watching the parrots, yes the "parrot" got a lot WRONG, at the moment, where my horse is, in a hollow fence post are Eastern Rosellas nesting, for many years, but each season maybe a snake??? was taking the young, this season I took action and put wire around post 5 beautiful babies are thriving, I keep an eye on them, fingers crossed, love from Australia 🇦🇺
Practically positive he meant New Ireland. I'm no grammar expert, but I think he should have included a second "New" because New Ireland is obscure, where Ireland is not.
Yes! I have a U2 that I rescued 29 years ago. She is 31 years old. I tamed and trained her. She is cuddler. Gets into mischief but for the most part she is a sweetheart ❤️💕💖
A difficult choice because these birds are one more beautiful than the other. All of them are unique included the black cockatoo is beautiful and elegant, love all of them.
Agreed. It's a white bird with pale blue skin around the eye. Very boring. Major Mitchell's is probably the most beautiful in terms of color. And the Moluccan, Galah, Sulfur Crested, Citron-Crested, and Palm Cockatoos.
Just a disclaimer birds are a lot of work and if you want one of these off the list just realize cockatoos are like toddlers that live for a long long time and never stop being toddlers. Also they're expensive af. edit: It's also not just gonna take "some time" to befriend your cockatoo, it's going to be hours upon hours or even a week or more. They're a lot of work so please just take my advice and research before getting a bird.
Yes! I saw a girl say her mom said she could get her very first pet and she saw the galah on this video and fell in love. It's like for fucks sake all these children and ignorant parents thinking they can just up and buy an exotic bird. You'd better own budgies, conures and small easier birds and DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE wanting to even own so much as a little goffin cockatoo
A couple of things.I know from vast personal experience Rose Breasted do not live to 80 years, 40 to 50 years seems to be the max. Also the Palm Cockatoo lives in 'Cape York Australia' (not sure why they didn't include the Australia part). Why the Moluccan wasn't on the list is frankly mind-boggling. And the Pink Cockatoo (Major Mitchell) should have been way closer to the top.
I have a bare eyed cockatoo for 16 years. Got him at 6 months. He is extremely mechanical, took apart the top of his cage. He also opened the door while he is inside and the latch is outside.
Love this channel keep it up! ❤️❤️❤️ One mistake though, gang gang cockatoos are not the heaviest cockatoo breed and are not 3 kg. They’re actually 300g
Not surprised. This creator had to change the thumbnail because a subscriber of Marlene Mc'Cohen's let her know the the owner of this channel stole a picture of her Galah Vinny off her channel. It was a screenshot this little shithead stole from her channel that was taken from inside her home in L.A. of her beloved Galah Vinny. He never asked her permission or anything. Marlene is a sweet heart and probably would of let him use had Mr. Douche Mc'Doucherson asked her. Everyone of his videos is inaccurate. He needs to get an actual job. And with that said my break is over, back to work. 😴
PSA: Cockatoos have very different body language than other birds and you can't see eye pining due to their black eyes. That's a huge aggression signal you can miss. They are cuddly, but they also dive bomb and attack owners without warning. They are very, very, very difficult birds to keep. Lovely with the right people though. I'm sure some of you have a wonderful relationship with yours but that doesn't mean the rule isn't valid.

People forget that these birds can live longer than you live. Before having them as pet, learn more about these birds. So please be careful and see if your future generation still can take care of a pet.

Cheri ST. John. There are 5 species of red tailed black cockatoos in Australia depending in what area you are in to see them. All protected. One species is critically endangered and under conservation watch. There are also White tailed black cockatoos and Yellow tailed black cockatoos. The other black cockatoo is the Palm Cockatoo. It is a rain forest species found only in Queensland but also found in Papua New Guinea and the rain forests of Indonesia. None of the other black cockatoos are found outside of Australia. cecile Australian avian conservationist.
I agree i was thinking the same thing

Omg YES!
Oh an Alex fan! Hi
Cool an Alex fan!
Rainpooper , cockatiels are a kind of intermediate species between parrots and cockatoos
I’d have to disagree with your order but they are all beautiful! Cockatoos are the sweetest, cuddly birds ever!
Video is nothing less than amazing! Thanks for publishing!
😍😍 Merci, ils sont tous magnifiques ! 💙 🇫🇷
Thank you, they’re all beautiful !
Had numerous galahs (pronounced g'lah or g'lar) which are excellent pets. The males are the crazy ones who can learn many words and noises. Males have brown pupils and the females have pink. Also had a young male Major Mitchell which took a liking to a young female galah. These too make great pets but can make quite a noise when excited. Both species need room and will be driven mad if kept for long periods in confined cages... so please don't get one as a pet unless you can give them ample space, time and love.
I just love cockatoos. All of them. Hard to pick a favourite. They're so full of character, either the ones in captivity, or the wild.
As someone who has a galah (rose-breasted) cockatoo as a pet, I definitely think they are the most beautiful

@Indrajit Mukherjee Yes, I have one that talks also.
I have 3 of them and only one talks. The other two are brother & sister that just hang out and the brother wants to kill me. LOL
@@Birdsonly My galah isn't a year old yet, she's just a baby, doesn't talk, but is very sweet!

These birds are gorgeous ❤and have wonderful natures

No he's not.
The last one “Blue Eyed” they show the bird landing on a hand, that is a blue eyed but the next 2 clips showing birds on branches and 2 birds in a pet store, those are Bare Eyed (My bird). Also when it introduces the Umbrella it then shows a Sulfer Crest in flight... Dude is a jack ass

I just love those beautiful birds.

I live in usa but I saw a cockatoo in my backyard it is odd to find one but it stayed in my yard for 2 weeks because I have birds so I saw someone lost a cockatoo just like it I called them and they took him cause it was hers

Gosh, the Blue-Eyed Cockatoo looks like a white Moluccan! Such a pretty bird! The Gang-gang cockatoo is also beautiful, but my favorite is the Major Mitchell's. The colors are so stunning!
The Moluccan cockatoo should definitely be on this list, they are beautiful!

Agree!
I think the Major Mitchell’s (Leadbeater’s) Cockatoo is the most spectacular, but whatever pet you have is probably the most beautiful. My Angel is a Sulphur-Crested that we adopted, and she’s always been a bit of a feather-chewer, so she’s not going to win any contests, but she is beautiful to me!
palm cockatoo is without a doubt the most stunning. also the crest of major mitchell is very colorful

This video, while showing many beautiful birds is very inaccurate.
that goes for most of their videos
All of them are magnificent!
I love how for the umbrella cockatoo it shows them throwing a fit
When I worked with parrots, there was one woman I met who had a citron / galah cross. Was not even aware that was possible??? But he definitely didn't look like any other cockatoo that I'd seen. Mostly soft grey and creamsicle orange. Really soft, medium length crest, just an incredibly cool bird. Sweet as hell, too.
Yeah strange but all cockatoo hybrids have orange and grey
Awww so beautiful🌼absolutely love it✨thank you🌼
Jokes on you every cockatoo is beautiful, every bird is beautiful
*God's creation is amazingly beautiful for our amusement* from India.🇮🇳😃🥰🐦🕊️🐧
The colour scheme of the first one looks like the kind of palette you would see on a gaming pc setup. Pretty impressive.
Very cool! Such beautiful birds!!
I think all birds are so majestic and beautiful
These birds are so stunning!!

@Martyn Watson hahaha
Yeah true I live in Australia
Is it possible to sell to other country?
Wait - these birds live a long time. You're not eating them, are you?
Victorius....why would you want to put any of our Australian parrot species in a cage in your home when you can see them living free and wild? Say no to parrots as ''pets''. They are a wild world species. Support avian conservation instead.
I have never seen these before. All rare birds. Thank you so much.
My Son has a male Major Mitchell Cockatoo and this bird loves everyone. It's truly amazing, I love the temper tantrums when he wants something from you.
Thanks for showing them, they're all beautiful.
I like the elegance of the Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo so much.
For the first symptoms the liver has already degenerated to 80% *but an urgent (and accurate) vet action can save your bird and revert the liver situation.*
So in addition to giving to the birds lipotropic and detox / regenerating hepatic protectors preventively and routinely, breeders usually make their own mixtures with low fat seeds.
*PREVENTION AND/OR TREATMENT:* The time to act is NOW that your bird doesn’t show yet the visible symptoms. It's necessary to ACTIVELY PREVENT THE LIVER DEGENERATION. Fortunately it's easy to do it: *It's very advisable to substitute progressively (within some weeks, as per the instructions of the manufacturer) the mixture of loose seeds for some pellets compound food of seeds, fruits and vegetables (preferably those that already include liver protectors), because this prevents the bird from filtering and eating mostly the fatty seeds (but without insisting if the bird does not get accustomed to eating pellets because he could die for starvation within a few days).*
*And, whatever the diet, it's CRUCIAL to add to the drinking water or to the food LIPOTROPIC LIVER PROTECTORS that include: CARNITINE AND /OR CHOLINE, BETAINE, METHIONINE, etc. It's very convenient to add DETOX / REGENERATING LIVER PROTECTORS with THISTLE MILK, BOLDO, ARTICHOKE EXTRACT.*
Liver protectors are not medicine but cheap food supplements manufactured by pet bird vet laboratories that remove the fat from the liver, clean it and favor its recovery. It's essential to add them to the pet birds diet to conserve their liver.
It are appearing in the market compound feed for pet birds that don’t include fatty seeds and that already include several liver protectors.
Webs on FLD:
www.beautyofbirds.com/liverdisease.html
Liver disease is a slow, on-going progressive disease where the liver tissue is replaced with fat. When the liver disease has progressed, the bird may suddenly appear ill.
www.lovinghands.com/forms/Hepatic%20Lipidosis%20-%20Fatty%20Liver%20Disease.pdf
One of the sadder diseases many avian vets see is that of hepatic lipidosis or fatty liver disease. Any bird can fall victim to fatty liver disease.
www.researchgate.net/publication/46105643_Treating_liver_disease_in_the_avian_patient
Dietary deficiencies of lipotrophic factors such as choline, biotin, and methionine may decrease the transport of lipids from the liver.
www.researchgate.net/publication/47716286_Valoracion_de_las_afectaciones_hepaticas_en_aves_ornamentales
The clinical manifestations of hepatic diseases in ornamental birds are much more frequent than people could imagine and in many cases they are not appreciated, progress in a silent way and when they are evident, vet action may arrive late.
Great information but I wonder how many will read the whole thing? Perhaps it's better to say you have important information on the subject and direct readers to your own website? Again really useful and important information. Thanks.
@@peterbeadman9010 Yes, this is long, but you have in a single text the whole picture for your quick reference at anytime, everything you need to know TO PREVENT AND/OR CURE (if you arrive on time) the MOST UNKNOWN by the owners, but MOST COMMON AND SERIOUS CAUSE OF ILLNESS AND PREMATURE DEATH IN PET BIRDS: THE FATTY LIVER DISEASE. For some minutes of reading you can bring to your birds a basic wellness and a full lifespan.
I'm glad that also your birds will avoid the FLD. Please, spread the word also offline to your neighbors, friends, etc. and let's save more birds out there. 👍👍
Thank you so much! I heard from a former bird owner who lost her bird due to fatty liver disease- and it’s truly heartbreaking when everything we want is for our birds to be healthy... I will pay more attention on my parrot’s and cockatoos’ diet and try to find a lipotrophic liver protector.
BirdTricks also has great natural feed made out of vegetables. They have a RUclips channel and a website and cookbooks for your bird and food that you can share with your bird.
Excellent info! Thank you for taking the time to post this helpful comment for all our bird friends.
The black cockatoo comes in red and yellow. White cockatoos and rose breasted cockatoos are everywhere here. You see them on the side of the road, in the trees, noisy as hell when they want to be. The adult red tail black cockatoos are majestic to watch flying. Long slow flaps and the longer tails, I see the often here when driving. You will usually only see them in very small groups. Beautiful birds.
Beauty is subjective. They are all gorgeous.
The Moluccan cockatoo always has my vote! They are among the largest cockatoos, however they can be very sweet and gentle.

"Ireland" yeah actually that was a wtf moment. The only alpine Parrot is the Kia from NZ.
The actual scientific name is "Flamin' Galah" :D
Practically positive he meant New Ireland. I'm no grammar expert, but I think he should have included a second "New" because New Ireland is obscure, where Ireland is not.
Oh the pink one was stunning ❤️
Thank you!!
Very nice video!!!
It said that a couple of species were the "friendliest to humans" umm that's just a matter of if it was handraised or not. Lol.
some are easier to hand raise than others. pink and grey galahs tend to be easier and more gentle than many others
@@gracevarcoe6155 feeding baby formula to any of these species is more or less an identical process.

A difficult choice because these birds are one more beautiful than the other. All of them are unique included the black cockatoo is beautiful and elegant, love all of them.
The blue eyes cockatoo is hardly the most beautiful if anything it's rather plain compared to some others

They are nice but look like a corella.
All Cockatoos are beautiful!
Kiwi Fruit cockatiels are good starters too i luv them
A couple of things.I know from vast personal experience Rose Breasted do not live to 80 years, 40 to 50 years seems to be the max. Also the Palm Cockatoo lives in 'Cape York Australia' (not sure why they didn't include the Australia part). Why the Moluccan wasn't on the list is frankly mind-boggling. And the Pink Cockatoo (Major Mitchell) should have been way closer to the top.
I love Cockatoos! Such amazing and intelligent birds! You never know what they're gonna do or say next

Yup
@First Last exactly. With moluccans, when they smooth their feathers flat against their body, they're agitated so people should back off.

People forget that these birds can live longer than you live. Before having them as pet, learn more about these birds. My grandma had one from her young age, she is no more but the bird is there, it's about to see 4 generation of kids; the bird is still healthy and troublesome and nuisance and we find it very hard to maintain it. So please be careful and see if your future generation still can take care of a pet.
Are you looking to find a new home for it?
No we are not ready to give her away, my mother and me take care of her. My nieces and nephew also love her, she is like another naughty troublesome kid, who seeks significant time. Thanks for asking.
