i was at the royal welsh show yesterday and after watching him me and my mum tracked him down and i got to see him and get a picture he is so polite and patient with his fans even though his english isn't great when i was there these two americans were saying how what he did was like magic and he seemed taken back by it and just kept saying thank you praise be to god which in his accent sounds very sweet

Their ears do not go flat back at any point, I'm no horse expert but even I know the difference between ears back and ears FLAT back. Seems to be only English speakers trying to say the horses are unhappy - is there perhaps a cultural difference to perceptions? I suggest you watch some of the many clips of JFP training with his horses on the beach near his home, if you're in any doubt as to their well-being. If there is any stress on these horses it's in the show ring, not from the man who gently invites them to perform. The dapple is the least compliant of them, watch the whole thing again and concentrate on her - watch how patient and gentle he is with her in this situation when he wants the best performance from them. By the way, these horses are naked - unshod.
This is natural horsemanship in its true form!! He gently shows the horses what he wants of them, just by raising his hand or a little touch of the whip. The horses treat him with all respect!! He is the supreme stallion in a pack of female horses!! Does any one know if that is the reason why he choose female horses??
@specialstuff94 i know this is too late but iven seen him he LOVES HIS HORSES lol and he doesnt smack them, he just touches them sometimes :) so i guess thats just the normal reaction for a horse

I know how much that must hurt you.I can feel your pain.:( My horses are my friends and I would not be able to sell them without pain. :'( I have some friends who beleive that quantity is better than quality, which is why I only have two and they have ten or more and never get to experience that beautiful bond and level of friendship that I have with my two friends. They know me and I know them and we exist equally.

That is what I am referring to...bonding with the horse without fear and with love and friendship!!Frederic makes me laugh as much as my own horses do when they snort and laugh at me and kick up their heels to run away. Yet, let me say this. If I go out to my stables in tears...looking for acceptance..I always have a horses nose in my face, nuzzling me and snorting so soflty as if to comfort me. This is truly friendship and love.
