I love how they made Luisa big, muscle-y and strong, but still so incredibly feminine. It's difficult to pull off and they did that amazingly well.
I was so pleased with that, to often the strong female character is basically only allowed to like traditionally male things.
@@Olivia_Dreamrider And the way she moved when she dance is feminine as well. Props to the animators!
Yeah and also how she actually felt sad and cried when she was moving the piano at Mariano's proposal, it showed us how even if she is though and buff she's still a person and a woman.
the hip bashing the rocks was a sexy move too
“Give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure would’ve pulled you under”
Gotta love when someone judges how well you came out on the other side of things
And now my parents won't why i don't want children like? I already raised two of yours while i was growing up what now do you want from me?
“i’m pretty sure i’m worthless if i’m not in service” DAMN
So that's low self esteem combined with toughness.
ahaaa... i feel like a deadweight :)
I have that problem kind off.
I say yes to everyone at my work and to my my family because I value my worth in the world in the amount of usefulness to others.
If I can't help them then I fell useless or like I didn't try enough. I'll go one step further for them(work late 14 days, or say yes to helping my family buying stuff or help them other ways) than for myself.
Man, no other Disney song has resonated with me like this one...
ANOTHER unessasary call out i didnt ask for 💔
Mirabel's actual has powers. She can:
-Play the accordion to a degree
-Talk and interact with the house
-Able to enter anyone's imagination and interact with it. (Serious though, Did you ever notice how in most songs her siblings felt all natural singing and dancing but she seems like in distress with the ever changing environments?)
-Ability slow time.
-Ability to manifest and interact with a person's memories.
-Talk no jutsu.
Pretty OP if you asked me...
In a nutshell: She's an empath, who can destroy and restore the magical house with her emotions ... including the gifts.
That makes her actually the most powerful Madrigal, albeit her power isn't superficial but has rather a "sleeper" function.
@@Gaia_Seraphina she doesn’t have any powers, the house breaks when the bond between the family members weakens
@@federicotorresani9117
And it still depends mostly on *her* ( and her grandma ) .
She and her grandma have both the same power in fact.
They can subconsciously make or break Casita.
Plus Mirabels magical door appeared when she put the knob into the normal door ... and the Casita became sentient again.
Or do you think that would have happened if another member did it? I don't think so. It has to be Mirabel, the Empath.
@@Gaia_Seraphina the cracks started when Bruno left, due to abuela’s high standards, and continued when the family wasnt united. It depended mostly on mirabel because she was the biggest disappointment in abuela’s eyes, since she has no gift. When the rift between them became bigger, the house broke and the magic went out. Abuela had to realise the mistakes of her ways in order to fix everything, and it’s deeply symbolic that the only child with no gift has to restore the magic. Mirabel putting the doorknob in was simply a parallel to the scene where she gets no gift, it has to be her because she’s the one who was affected the most by abuela’s behaviour, along with Bruno. The key to restoring the magic was fixing the family, and abuela had to recognise the pain she caused. And lastly, it wouldn’t make sense for mirabel to have a gift, the whole point of the movie is that even without powers she is still special and a part of her family, her secretly having a power would be a shitty plot twist
very op just like arkious with lean in pokemon :)
As much as I like this song I also can't help but laugh. Can you imagine her gift ceremony? Like, did this tiny little girl get instantly swol when she touched the door? Just. Imagine that. Picture it.
If she's swol at the end of the movie but can't lift heavy stuff anymore when she lost her gift, maybe that's indication that it's not about the body she has, but the gift itself being super strong. So what I imagine is, a little girl with a small fragile body at the age of 5, being able to lift a whole piano because of her gift. Perhaps she eventually just started working out after getting her gift to align her looks with her gift, otherwise it'll seem odd that a small fragile figure can lift a whole building and break boulders, don't you think?
DONT EVEN -- PLS--
I mean like, my cat is incredibly swole and nobody knows how he got this way because he doesn't lift.
Maybe Luisa is the same
No I think she’s alr ‘buff’. Kinda like ur life before ur gift is reflecting to what ur gift’s gonna be. Peppa’s emotions r pretty wild n strong and she likes the weather I guess? So maybe that’s y she got a weather gift.
I get where you're coming from and I raise you this, when she goes to open the door she breaks the doorknob off lmao
I like to think luisa lost her gift out of all of them because she's the most affected by the pressure and she honestly needs a break. She sees herself as a tool for everyone to use because she's afraid of losing her own value.
She lost her gift out of everyone so she can figure out that she's fine, gift or no gift, that she can let people help her too.
Yeah she lost her powers/couldnt use it when she realized she couldnt handle all the pressure. And Isabella's power changed cuz she realized she doesnt have to be perfect. The Gifts shift according to what their user feels. Like how Abuela's gift, casita, is cracking because Mirabel is "ruining" stuff and hurts her idea of perfection and fear of losing her family and home.
“Watches as she buckles and bends but never breaks” really hurt pfpfpf
Is it weird that I've watched this song 20 times in a row and still crying through it? I just can't empathize with any other song more. This is honestly a bop and I feel like many parents did this to their eldest children just like it was done to them and kept the toxic cycle going. Like why force your child to grow and take on too much responsibility before their time?
:(
I agree they became a parent before they can even drive :( in my case, it wasn't forced. I have to step up since we hit a financial crisis and my parents can't work anymore but I still have a younger sibling to raise. I love them so much and I always worry if I can pull through to make them safe and well all the time. I have cried many times because of this song. Sending huuugs to all of us!
Mirabel is the only one who gets disoriented by stuff moving around in the imagined scenery illustrating the songs.
She is also the most responsive to Casita’s moods.
I think Mirabel is an empath.
She has no specific room or apparent “gift”, but she reacts to other peoples’ mental imagery as if she’s being buffeted/losing her grip on reality.
No. She doesn't have any power, that would break the movie's messages.
All those song are stylised, they don't actually exist in the movie's diegesis, at least not all of them and/or not in the way it's shown to us.
@@leopoldbullot8016 If Mirabel has a gift that no one can perceive, I think that the movie’s message stays the same.
Edit: The songs wouldn’t exist to anyone but Mirabel, if Mirabel is an empath and her grasp on physical reality is filtered through hallucinations caused by other peoples’ emotional state.
But I’m saying the songs might exist to Mirabel.
@@cassandrabelyeu2419 I also thought that was going to be her gift, while watching the movie.
But it's just that. A THEORY. Please stop acting like you cracked a secret code or something. She doesn't have any gift. Besides the gift of kindness. Lol
@@iamtotallynot123 If she has a gift that’s imperceptible and has no corresponding room, it’s kind of impossible to disprove.
Or prove.
It’s a type of theory called a “head canon” .
Headcanons are fair play until such a time as anything factual contradicts it.
As long as I never said that she *does* have a magical attribute, (which would be unsupported) I am allowed to enjoy things and play with theories.
This is a component of the activity known as “fun”.
@@cassandrabelyeu2419 I don't see how being completely delusional equates to fun. But maybe that's just me, right? Maybe where you live being an awful person is *ALL THE RAGE,* Huh?
A strong meaningful song.
Something between rap and pop.
There's some reggaeton in there as well.
It's a reggaeton, a pretty popular musical genre here in Colombia, but I think it's more of a mix between rap and reggaeton
"give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure would have pulled you under..." As the older sister, that one hurt...
As a fellow older sister, I agree.
this song speaks so much to me as a filipino family's eldest daughter- it's all under the surface
Yea same hereeeeee :(
POV:You watched encanto, and remember this song being good. Then you looked up the song on RUclips.
I feel attacked
Mirabel’s little smile when Luisa holds her at, give it to your sister is adorable
when she sounds like garnet and it sounds like the steven universe theme song:
This should have been in Steven universe

2:24 - 3:14 this last part is the reason why I love this song so much- those lyrics go deep
I don't like how the song starts but damn is this song painfully emotional when it actually gets going...
as the youngest sister, listening to this, i sorta relate. growing up, my older sister by 2yrs had (and still has) a condition which caused multiple problems mentally and physically. i always felt the pressure from my parents to be the perfect one because my older sister couldn’t be
Awhh i feel bad, hope u and her r okay
Why does this song make me cry every time

I think Encanto is the first Disney movie to have three siblings have their own songs

That part where Luisa is holding the shied I’m like yo is that hollyberry
Don’t….
I- why is it similar though? at 0:38 she looks exactly like Hollyberry-
I'm drinking coffee, listening to this, and crying thinking about the pressure I'm under being the oldest.
Such a sad song... But it was funny and cute seeing the donkeys incorporated in just about every scene 🤣
The raining donkeys 😭😭😭
This song made me cry by how accurate this is to me
as the second born daughter but only one that can “handle” the pressure this song hits really hard
0:49 my favorite part of the song🥰🥰🥰
Second oldest, only daughter, gained the nickname of "Lil Momma". You can't falter and you cannot break. This song hits so hard. It allows the little girl to come out for a second, but you have to hide her away and be strong. 😔😔😔😔
why is she so relatable all of a sudden
Hip checking the boulders I jumped in my seat in the theater and screamed "yeeeeeeeees!!!!!" Best song and character ever finally a character I can relate too in every way!!!!
I love her response to the first line okay
Probably a weird thing to focus on, but... I love the donkeys they made for this movie. Ever since the days of Don Bluth I've never seen such adorable donkeys.
(To go back to the lyrics: I wonder if they tied Luisa to donkeys because of thematic reasons. Donkeys all around the world are used mostly to carry heavy liftings, are seemingly restless and loyal in their endeavour. But deep down, they're also very cautious and recognize cracks and difficulties in their path with great intuition. Equally, Luisa is loyal, strong and doesn't ask for much in return, but is also anxious about the difficulties that lay ahead and that she herself might crack someday.)
yay im thankful bc you have 1.01k subcribers =]
I really like this song
I'm the oldest sister, was the second parent, and with all of those responsibilities it takes a toll. Also I was living in survival mode and not showing how hard it was. But this song hits home and had me crying so much because it explains the pressure of being the oldest.
This song made me understand the movie's message and I was there for it
i swear to god this song is the perfect excuse for the eldest daughters to cry their hearts out sksksk bcs we wouldnt elsewhere
The thing I really love particularly with animation is that through the song Luisa is protecting Marabelle as she sings about her problems.
Mirabels power ... the same of the grandma ... be conected With the House to give the powers to the New generations
I like this song
i love this song sooo much
This song strikes too true man
I don't think I've ever cried so much to a song I related to so much.
I love the song under the surface
this song made me fall in love with her, she is SO beautiful * 0 * )
I love this song the most cause she and I have the same pitchy twang when we sing. Can't go high, can't go low, but a nice husky middle.
I love this song!! So AWSM!!!
Me thinking my childhood didn’t fuck me up that bad:
This song:
So Amazing!
I'm the strong one, I'm not nervous
I'm as tough as the crust of the earth is
I move mountains, I move churches
And I glow 'cause I know what my worth is
I don't ask how hard the work is
Got a rough indestructible surface
Diamonds and platinum, I find 'em, I flatten 'em
I take what I'm handed, I break what's demanding
But
Under the surface
I feel berserk as a tightrope walker in a three-ring circus
Under the surface
Was Hercules ever like "Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus"?
Under the surface
I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service
A flaw or a crack
The straw in the stack
That breaks the camel's back
What breaks the camel's back it's
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa
Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'till you just go pop, whoa
Give it to your sister, your sister's older
Give her all the heavy things we can't shoulder
Who am I if I can't run with the ball?
If I fall to
Pressure like a grip, grip, grip and it won't let go, whoa
Pressure like a tick, tick, tick 'til it's ready to blow, whoa
Give it to your sister, your sister's stronger
See if she can hang on a little longer
Who am I if I can't carry it all?
If I falter
Under the surface
I hide my nerves and it worsens, I worry something is gonna hurt us
Under the surface
The ship doesn't swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is
Under the surface
I think about my purpose, can I somehow preserve this?
Line up the dominoes
A light wind blows
You try to stop it tumbling
But on and on it goes
But wait
If I could shake the crushing weight of expectations
Would that free some room up for joy
Or relaxation, or simple pleasure?
Instead we measure this growing pressure
Keeps growing, keep going
'Cause all we know is
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa
Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'til you just go pop, whoa-oh-oh
Give it to your sister, it doesn't hurt
And see if she can handle every family burden
Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks
No mistakes just
Pressure like a grip, grip, grip and it won't let go, woah
Pressure like a tick, tick, tick 'till it's ready to blow, woah
Give it to your sister and never wonder
If the same pressure would've pulled you under
Who am I if I don't have what it takes?
No cracks, no breaks
No mistakes, no pressure
This video is cool I can’t stop which it

Do u think k disney will make a second movie 🤔 bc we all know th mouse like to milk stuff, but also Mayne we can see what her power is, or follow how she gets stressed out from basically being the family therapist. And also seeing the other characters struggle
Idk just a thought
I love Luiza and her song

This song has every older latina daughter sobbing their eyes out. I know i did. I still do at that part.
I'm not latina and I'm the youngest child and it had me crying in the theater, I can't imagine how hard it hits the people it was meant for
I think this hits a lot of people. All us oldest siblings in broken families with single mothers or single fathers who suddenly have to be the "second parent" even though we're still just children... My siblings literally called me "Other Mother" at times, and I learned to respond when they called out "Mom" because they often were really calling for me. It's surprising how many people kinda know what I'm talking about when I talk about my childhood, and I think this song is for all those people.
SAME YOU SEE ME CRYING IN THE THEATERS
not only latina girls every older sibling can relate to this
as a latina older sister, i can confirm and relate to this.
this movie makes me think of all the “gifted” kids in elementary school who turn into burnout kids, when you’re expected to be special then you feel this intense pressure to be the best all the time and when you stop getting that constant praise that you get as a kid you start to question if you’re worth anything anymore
me, a gifted burnout kid who also happens to be the eldest daughter of a Hispanic and Asian household: *sobbing uncontrollably to this song*
I'm that gifted burnout kid
oh hey i heard u were talking abt me
I was never particularly gifted, but I was forced into a highly competitive education where only the best stay standing, at 13 years old. When I finally broke at 19, I cried for months and felt worse than useless, but it was also a relief. I've only learned how to be happy after accepting I'm just average, just me, and my average life isn't flashy but it's pretty great. This song words the desperation and struggle I felt perfectly
Disney: so we need you to animate a song sequence.
Animators: k sure we do that all the time.
Disney: In which it rains donkeys.
Animators: ...
Lmao u need a be pin
And to follow that up animators I want you to make the donkeys twerk behind Louisa while she has a mental breakdown (if ya know, ya know)
Pretty sure it was more like
Animators: we want to animate a song sequence
Disney execs: sure that’s on our checklist
Animators: we want it raining donkeys
Disney execs: …??
If there’s a weird but cool idea 99% of the time it’s the artists’ ideas
The whole theme of the movie seemed if you were a family member and weren’t perfect and contributing your worthless. This being the first song to here from someone besides Maribell seeing that the pressure of the family even those with gifts have to deal with. It’s honestly great that and Luisa being such a great character who tries to carry everyone’s burden as the older sister is great.
Shes the middle child, and I relate cuz same
Mirabel not Matibell
@@its_chloman comment said 'older sister'. She's older than Mirabell, she's the older sister, not oldEST.
"Give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure would pull you under" that kine just hits hard
Yea :(
Finally a girl who has broad shoulders and is built just like me..... Disney gave me a serious complex when I was younger because Im not a skinny girly and I'm so happy to see my body type being represented, she looks amazing, makes me wanna hit the weights 💪 ❤
@Leon Hager your right I don't have to see myself in anyone, I was more commenting on her body type alone (shallow I know) and how nice it is to see. Just because someone has broad shoulders does not necessarily mean they have strength. My point being that some females actual body shape was usually closer to the male character than the princess character. I haven't seen the film so don't know the story behind the mental cracks of the character. On an emotional level, being the eldest sibling, These song lyrics hit especially hard.
L MBerry not shallow at all! It feels good to see yourself, your body type or personality, ethnicity, gender, etc. represented in a flattering way, especially as a child. It’s nice to see a representation of a muscular woman who is also vulnerable and feminine and not teased for her muscles. I enjoyed this song a lot for the vulnerability she portrays as well.
As we say in México, vales oro chica.
you can move bolders?
dang girl that’s awesome
