      @PaskaErareika What? Salmiakki is literally just salt.

    • @Xerdoz
      @Xerdoz 3 месяца назад

      @PaskaErareika1833 Chlorides by definition are salts. There are different kinds of salts than just table salt NaCl. Ammonium Chloride is a type of salt so is Magnesium Chloride etc.

    If you can find Tyrkisk Peber (turkinpippuri) just crush them and make powder, then mix with vanilla ice cream.
    If you can find Haganol's salmiakki in a bottle (liquid) that's good stuff. Unlikely you'll find that, though.

      There is also a salmiakki mixer that works very well. I use it myself for making homemade salmiakki ice cream.
      I suppose it's meant for mixing with liquor to make salmiakki vodka, but it gives ice cream just the right flavour ❤
      ..and since the mixer has no alcohol, I might be able to send some bottles, if interested.

  • @radikaali

    Best bet to make actually good salmiakki ice cream is to buy Licorice Powder, mix that with sugar and then from that make ice-cream or just mix it with vanilla ice cream. That's how salmiakki & Licorice ice creams are actually made. People say to use salmiakki powder but that's not it, you can use it to give the ice cream "extra kick", ammonium chloride works too for that but in extremely small portion.
    Source: I make salmiakki for a living 😄

    Here is a better recipe for ice cream: You need 2 eggs, 3 dl powder sugar, 2 dl cream. You need three different bowls, because these are all whipped separately and then mixed together at the end. Separate the egg yolks and egg whites. Whip the egg yolks and powder sugar togethet with a mixer. The whip the egg whites until it is fluffy. Then whip the cream until you have soft whipped cream. Now mix all these together using a spoon, NOT with a mixer. Mixer will take away all the air from the mixture. After this, add the flavor you want. And the freeze it. Works every time :)

  • @blechtic
    @blechtic 3 месяца назад +1

    Look up "haganol mixer".
    You should have melted them in water and then boiled out the water to get the wanted thickness. The black colour comes from liquorice and colouring so it hardly matters. Mix it with yellow stuff and you get greenish hues. Ammonium chloride itself is just white/clear salt crystals. Oh, and there's menthol in Super salmiakki.
    Don't forget, though, that one of the most important ingredients in ice cream is air. You're supposed to mix in a lot of air in the cream. Also maybe add in vanilla to make it less creamy.

    Crush one bag of tyrkisk peber candies and melt them in one deciliter of water so it dissolves. Let it cool. Mix the concoction with semi melted vanilla icea cream and put it in the freezer. Or just mix salmiakki powder with vanilla ice cream.

  • @mkylmis
    @mkylmis 3 месяца назад +3

    You guys need to get salmiakki in powder form to mix it properly to the ice cream (or cheese, in this case) mix. Check out CAS number 12125 - 02.9 or EINECS number 235-186-4 and get some from your pharmacist or someone. This should be used lightly, from 35 to 70 grams per 1 kg of final product. The color is white so you'd need black food color if you want to adjust it to look like the real deal.

  • @juna61

    Just buy vanilla ice cream in a box and mix it with some blended sweet or salty liqorice. To help things blend better you could add a bit of cream or milk into the blendable mixture. Should work 100% every time.

    As other people have pointed out:
    Try to find either salmiakki powder or Haganol mixer.
    Also: If you make your own salmiakki syrup, DON'T use "super salmiakki". As a Finn who loves salmiakki I can't stand that stuff, because it has this kind of fresh anise flavour, so it tastes really different than the salmiakki ice cream you tried in Finland. That should be just "pure" salmiakki, so tyrkisk peber might work or then just those diamond-shaped "normal" salmiakki candies.

    There is actually liquid salmiakki which probably would have been better for making this icecream. It's called Haganol Salmiakki Mixer and I think... As for the icecream itself.. I think for no-churn one I would do something like:
    4dl of heavy cream
    about 200g of sweetened condensed milk
    Salmiakki Mixer (I won't specify amount because it would depend how intense you want it, although if you put too much it make it too liquidy)
    And just whip the cream until it forms peaks and then combine it with the condensed milk and Salmiakki, mix well and freeze it.
