深水埗位於九龍半島西北部，東漢時期已有先民居住，清代嘉慶年間已有「深水莆」、「長沙灣」等村落。深水埗於十九世紀中葉曾為清汛兵駐守，其後且有稅廠設立。二十世紀初，英軍曾於該地設置軍營。深水埗如今已發展為九龍西北部的核心區。是次講座，講者將透過介紹深水埗關廠，帶領聽眾回顧深水埗區之發展。
Public Lecture: Discovering Historical Footprints in Sham Shui Po District: Starting from the Kowloon Customs House

Abstract:
Sham Shui Po is located in the northwest of the Kowloon Peninsula. It was inhabited by ancient people during the Eastern Han dynasty, and villages such as "Sham Shui Po" and "Cheung Sha Wan" emerged during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing dynasty. During the mid-19th century, a Qing garrison was stationed at Sham Shui Po, and later a custom station was established. In the early 20th century, the British army set up a military camp in the area. Today, Sham Shui Po has been developed into a core district in the northwest part of Kowloon. The speaker will trace back the history and development of Sham Shui Po district by introducing the significance of Kowloon Custom.
