Fuck, this is better than that Tokyo bored concert and audience. He also told that Mariah filmed part of the "Underneath The Stars" music video in a park in Amsterdam the next day after the show at the midnight.
R9onald9 A thank you! Also I don’t think Mariah was wearing those ear things that play the song so the crowd has to be quite so she could hear the track

Anyone who doubts Mariah's chops as a live performer NEEDS to watch this. This is MILES better than Tokyo Dome, and the best part is that this is *raw* and *undubbed*, unlike Tokyo Dome, so no one can say she is anything less than phenomenal. This concert is probably the best live vocals I've heard from any singer in history. The voice in this exact time, there will never ever be some one that can compare to her or beat her, I said NEVER. Daydream Mariah is unbeatable! This is music history happening right here.
Vividly Emblazoned In My Mind 1998 was what I refer to as her laryngitis year. I enjoyed her sound though. But very big contrast to how she sounded on the 'Butterfly' album. 'Rainbow' brought back a bit of her upper register('98 it was shot) but her voice was still exhausted.
Love it! So many colors and textures to her voice. Man I wish she still sang like this. She's still got "it", just wish her it was this good still, lol!
+Someday This is very interesting, because I have always suspected that Mariah has synaesthesia, as she is such a creative person. Synaesthesia is sensory cross-wiring, and some people are just born with it. The musician Lorde is synaesthetic, and from this video it looks like Mariah is, too.
Synaesthesia? It's sensory cross-wiring, such that one can "hear" or "smell" colors or "see" sounds. It can be other kinds of sensory associations, too. People who are synaesthetic have a different, and probably richer, sensory experience of the world. Imagine playing piano and "seeing" colors as you play. I know someone who sees colors when she looks at numbers, and when she looks at people she associates them with numbers and colors. She's really good in math. If you watch the TV show 'Big Bang Theory,' Sheldon Cooper is synaesthetic also. He displays this when he immediately spots an error in a large data set, and he explains that prime numbers "appear" red, and twin primes "appear pink and smell like gasoline," so he saw the error in two seconds. The clip is on RUclips; search "Sheldon Cooper synesthesia."
That's if Mariah said "purple kind-of-a-scent," because she may have said "herbal." Although, even if she didn't say "purple," who knows, she could be synaesthetic in another way. I just find it awesome how in her song 'The Roof' she wrote about a memory and related it to rain and longing and crying and nostalgia, and she connects the way she sings to the lyrical content, the mood, and the structure of the song. She does the same in virtually every song she's done.
I was happily part of the crowd in the Ahoy on Monday June 17, 1996 at 20:00 hours with a standing place of 65 dutch guilders which I paid 150 for on the aftermarket due to tickets being sold out quick. I didn't care I wouldn't miss it for the world as a huge fan :) People were blasting Mariah's song from their car stereos near the Ahoy! Nearly all singers nowadays lip sync every now and then. Mariah does it too, especially in the last few years when it comes to high notes. It doesn't mean that she can't sing them at all, but every singer has good and bad days and sometimes it's better to mix live and not live to hold the quality of a show up. In my eyes Celine took a little bit more care of her voice. You can watch videos how she does it and what it takes during a show in las vegas or a tour. She also lives very healthy (not drinking much alcohol and so on). Nevertheless Celine's voice has changed after all these years as well that's why she is singing most of her older songs a little bit lower to take even more care of her voice. A voice change happens to all of us. Some hits it harder than others. Mariah always used to sing very difficult songs when it comes to technique. It's not only her range what made her popular and made her a fantastic singer. I guess that was a price that had to be paid... Both women have done a magnificant job over all these years and both should get credits for their talent and their work.

I heard the "Underneath The Stars" video was shot here? Even Mariah doesn't know where it is? Sony? Tommy Mottola? Just give the darn video to the lambs!
This concert is impeccable. SO grateful for this footage but the fact that this was professionally recorded and the footage has never been released kills me. 😭
This is not "perfect" compared with tokyo dome, while tokyo is probably too perfect to be true. If you have ever watched both her dubbed version and undubbed version of the same performance (like MSG), you would know that she maybe didn't sing that high notes or sang it differently live when watching tokyo dome performance. However, this "non-perfect" concert is way more valuable to me. Because now we can be sure that her live back then was almost just as good as her in the studio (which created the dubbed version). And it's very easy to imagine that if this concert hadn't been this long and taxing, she would've been able to perform just as perfect as tokyo dome. She's just perfect.
+Zheng X Disagree, her voice was far more agile, flexible and limitless here than in Tokyo Dome. She was practically living in the upper chested belted region. She literally sounds better than the recorded studio versions and the dubbed versions. Her resonance, tone, and agility are actually superior to the dubbed versions. This woman needed no dubbing whatsoever.
Tyler 'MJ' Carey By "perfection" I meant in terms of vocal phrasing, pitch and stuff like that. You have to admit that while tokyo dome is probably pitch corrected, this concert does have a few "flaws" in that area. For example, in "forever" she breath a lot more inbetween words within a sentence (tell me I'm the one) and "call" is also a bit flat. In "without you" she didn't connect "give anymore" which she did in MSG (undubbed) and tokyo. And in "hero" she always takes a breath between the first part of "way" and hitting the G5 or F5# (while tokyo dome is the only one where she connects them perfectly). All I'm saying is these things tend to happen in a taxing 1.5 hours concert and that's why tokyo dome seems too perfect to be true. I don't even know why I'm explaining. I do like some of the undubbed versions more than dubbed ones (make it happen both here and MSG, I don't wanna cry, etc)
Tyler 'MJ' Carey And of course she (or maybe tommy) would like to correct the pitch and phrasing problem along with cutting voices of the audience just to make the video perfect, since she's a perfectionist. So dubbing is very understandable.
Zheng X That's not the same thing as "pitch correction", I don't think you really understand what pitch correction is because that's not the case, at all.

She will lose her whistles for sure). her natural voice is deep and raspy.this is why after 1997 after all her hard work her voice become more raspy, her voice still a m a z i n g - out of this world but of course when the time 9is over and over it's more hard for her +the nodules...she is human you know yes...?

●No matter if she didn't sing like she used, she is still amazing and sings beautiful.
No one could do this after all that
and she's still do that.
●Her legendary creations remain here forever, no matter what happen.
● Even her doctor said to her to rest and save her voice ( you can see this on youTube) otherwise she will have damage.
But she want to work and not to stop, she loves what she's doing.

○ Yes she try to listing to him sometimes and that why she's don't sings live all the time or not the full songs. And yeah now this is a little difficult to her to sing old songs she used to sing before the damge and restlessness. ת
48:41 provides 10 seconds of what heaven sounds like
There will NEVER be another Mariah in the next 1000000000000x years. 👑❤️💅
she's so cute when she sang just be good to me
WOW! her voice is beyond my words!
she sounded amazing and she was like just drinking water. but her voice got real thin here.
joe smith that's not what i meant. I was saying that she sings as easy as drinking water.
For my ears, she sounded round and thick.
Her voice doesn't sound thin. Good example of thin voice is Ariana Grande's.
I actually was at this concert! I was 3,5 years old. Had my tot microphone with me. I have been a fan ever since. ❤️
daydream is my ultimate mariah carey album and era....beyond perfection!
I love the Forever version in this concert, with ALL its flaws it was exquisitely saved. The song is incredibly hard. Such a pro! Make It Happen took me to church. 👏👏👏👏👏
Without You made me cry
Right there with you. She was singing from her soul.
I heard the "Underneath The Stars" video was shot here? Even Mariah doesn't know where it is? Sony? Tommy Mottola? Just give the darn video to the lambs!
puff pastry I just had to set up a VPN, to download some of the concert videos!
lambs4eva mariah and sony have it. But I know she will release it one day. Maybe on some of her aniversary ?! 😊
Hoàng Huân Đỗ did you check her ig?? She played a small snippet of it
This was the absolute peak of her vocals. After this, there was only down :( ......(apart from her second vocal peak from 2001-2005 lol)
56:56 what note is that 😮
F#5
30:24 her voice is so heavy and slyaed
48:40 love how she sings that part 😍❤️💯
This concert is impeccable. SO grateful for this footage but the fact that this was professionally recorded and the footage has never been released kills me. 😭
Great video , great concert, the best singer ...
thank you so much for this
She got so emotional at the end of Without You that she had to stop. Wow.
Michael Kao we can only imagine what she had going on in her personal life at this point. it’s sad to think about.
that hero the wayyyy thoughh
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
She's the one in the whole existence!
Excellent .. Thanks !
The resonance .... i'm slayed
1:23:00 she goes from holding a long note to a quick melisma finish going from the bottom to the top!! Mariah is not human!!
The energy and sound in that stadium. Amazing.
58:01 THE GROWLL OMG :>
Tyler 'MJ' Carey I believe you already got my point so I won't argue anymore (there's no reason to argue at the first place anyway)
Thank you to whomever filmed this and for the upload! This is amazing footage. Mariah at her peak and during her best period. What a gift 🙏🏻
I notice the cameramen in the background... so why hasn’t this concert ever been released?! 🤔😢☹️
The best Hero live version ever !!!!!
Flawless
I’m a lighting designer and I love watching the same lighting and set changes from the Tokyo dome. She really had the show perfected and she played it straight each show. And watching it be the same set list. I noticed she took out the costume change between just be good to me and Dreamlover. 😅
Why did I just see this now? 😢😢 Her voice here is in her most TOP! 💟
Whos watching this in 2020? 😊🤗
Damn even in shitty audio quality, her voice is still stunning
Bloody joyful!! Queen… my heart! All bloody day long!!
Someone tell Mariah....we need the whole dvd
At the end of without you, she's holding her tears. It all makes sense now with the release of her book. Now we know
The greatest vocalist ever
Mariah: Carey
Wig: *snatched*
A purple kind of scent... welcome to Rotterdam😎
