    Why don't you use the Global/Offset Wheel? The White balance seams to be off in the shot which would affect the whole image, so why don't you fix the whole instead of isolated regions? Happy to learn 🙌🏻

    • @knightlightshow
      @knightlightshow 9 месяцев назад +3

      I do, I think it was in my "colorist teaches color grading" video where I discuss my fondness of printer lights, which is offset. I was just doing a compare/contrast here of primaries, HDR, and LOG wheels. Also, instead of adjusting the WB image-wide using offset, I wanted to demonstrate how you can adjust the balance for the wall behind the talent without affecting their skin tone.

      Agree - I recently shot a real estate video in bright sunlight as the only light source with a variable ND on the lens. This gave me some strange Color shift in the inside of the house - I guess that the white paint did some own polarisation with the sun light, interfering with my ND.
      So, I needed to get rid of a nasty green tint that resided only on the walls.
      Having known the trick with the log wheel zones would have saved me 2 hours of fumbling around with adding a highlight mask for desaturating the walls to my node tree.

    Do you ever work with ACES timeline color, and if so does the checkbox for Use Color Space Aware Grading Tools affect the primaries or only the "aware" HDR wheels?

    • @knightlightshow
      @knightlightshow 8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I switch in and out of ACES depending on the project. When that saturation bug appeared in the previous version of ACES I stopped using it and switched. However, since it’s been fixed I haven’t switched back but I do plan to. HTH

    Or am I missing something ?

      Hi, unfortunately I left Premiere many years ago so I haven’t done the round robin before. There are however some great videos on RUclips that describe how to do it. Have you tried those?

      It’s good to have you here part of our community. Yes, it’s difficult with live streams to highlight my mouse cursor and the keystrokes since restream doesn’t support that. I can only do it in the videos I make. Let me know if there is anything in particular you want me to cover in more detail.

      ;)
      I’ve been learning DaVinci for nearly 2 years, have taken all the BMD courses, and now focusing on learning color grading and science in more detail..(which is why I’m loving your videos) .. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 15 pro, and can finally grade in log footage..Watching so many videos on LUT and CST, has left me confused with the most critical parts of a color grade .. the beginning and end of the process (project/timeline/clip) .. I’m learning so much of the ‘between’, but as you can imagine, pointless if I can’t start on the right foot. Understanding you lean towards a more experienced watch, but maybe a refresher on these start end points would be something I would love to see in your style of presentation.. 2 hr videos while I relax and follow along are amazing .
      Love n hugs..
      A

    • @joyoffilming9500
      @joyoffilming9500 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@AndisendI went through the very same process, having started with using LUTs for everything, especially for turning log footage into rec709.
      Over time I learned about using proper Color management in Davinci Resolve (whith and without CST nodes in the node trees) and why to use a wide gamut for the timeline for grading.
      A great source for learning is Cullen Kelley with his videos and live casts.
      His channel is not in competition with Alissa. In my opinion, both of their channels perfectly complement each other.
