I have the DR WHO version of this set and absolutely love it, was also happy to see your intercity 225 running as that was my first train set which grown into an 11 car set so would love to see a review on the 225 as it is what started it all please. :)
Hi Jack, yes I think it should have had a sleeve which all the boxes fit into! Yes the do light up, but they're extremely dim... like you need the lights off to see them ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great Video! Rode in the Virgin Voyager when I was in the UK last. Went 1st class it was quite a good ride. Keep up the good work really enjoy your vids.
Hey Sam, the thing on the front is a coupler commonly found on modern passenger multiple unit trains. As far as I know, they use electro magnets to hold the cars together in real life, not quite sure about that though. Over all that train is a beautiful multiple unit and for a decent price, nice find. Also thank you for all your work and being so receptive to feedback.
Hi mukka... I enjoyed your review... even though it is a few years old. I bought a new set recently on Ebay. The fan units on each end of the carriages are air conditioning units. The grills located at the centre of each roof are radiator cooling packs at a guess. Those are couplers on the end of the leading carriages are only models and non functional. They incorporate a mechanical coupler, the electrical connections and air supply (main res. and brake pipe) connections. You confused me a bit as I recall the train ended up on your worst train ever list which is in stark contrast with this episode which has you raving how good it is. Anyway... stay safe. Regards from Oz. Gaz
Sam: A blast from the past as I clicked on an old video of yours: The derailment problem with the power car you mention on the Bachmann Class 221 voyager is caused by the cam which is covered with a thick layer of paint. Clean this off with some fine grade emery paper. The speed problem is cured by connecting up an old Hornby train set controller. It will take 16 volts and whizz around!
Just been running my 221 inspired by your video. I think it’s the first time or at least 5 Year’s. These couplings really do your head in , especially as mine kept derailing in one direction. I don’t think it likes the frogs on one of my points. Anyway finally got it doing circuits without derailing , although my heart was in my mouth most of the time!
That's good to hear Russell - how did she run after 5 years? Yes mine did that in one direction too - you have to mess around with the bogey mountings inside the motor car... get that right and they don't de-rail, sounds like you sorted it anyway! haha, all the best mate, Sam :)
Sam'sTrains Sam, to be honest, she has hardly been run so is almost new . Like you though my initial impression was that she was quite slow , but actually as she warmed up she was going quite fast. I do remember when I got her I had to get rid of my curved points because she kept on derailing on them . My track is in no way level , but other items run through without problems , so I’d say she is susceptible to derailing , certainly in one direction. It’s actually probably more than 5 years. I think it was just after they came out. at the time I was trying to keep up to date , but gave it up with the TOCs constantly changing. I hope there are spares for these couplings. Easy to lose !
Oooh yes! Yet another review! Good job Sam! When I went to London, I traveled on a pendelino there and I traveled on a Voyager back. While I was at London's hamleys toy shop, I found this model and a bigjigs rail version of the pendelino! What coincidence! Cheers, TWA.

Hi Sam my suggestion to you if you want to make it longer is put the carriage with the motor behind one of the end cars, I found that to be useful with my ICE3, great review as usual.
Awesome review mate as always. Love the class 91 in my favourite intercity swallow livery!! Seen them many a time back in the day at Newcastle central station.
nice model! very suitable for a modern theme layout! P/S: the "cooling fans" are actually AC units, they are there to cool the interior compartment and not the engine, so the existence of them does not indicate a powered car
Great video as usual Sam, not sure how you find the time to put out so many quality videos. By the way, not sure if anyone pointed it out, but the Voyager, by my estimate, should have been around 27th in your overall rankings.
Just a quick fact if you haven't already been told, the Coupling on the front of the voyager is used for Thunderbird locomotives so they can drag a dead voyager if need be, shame they can't be used in model form without extreme modifacation as Bachmann already make a Class 57 which its only use in model form is really to pull some MK3 coaches...
The thing at the tip is a so called „Scharfenberg Coupling“ ist used on EMU and DMU to connect end cars with another set of EMU DMU. Hey Sam! Im thinking to buy a dcc sound fitted locomotive! I was thinking about the railroad class 20 or the gwr king.. Do you have any sugesstions? Great video! Loved the diffrent music in the intro!
Hornby's original Advanced Passenger Train (APT) had the motor in the central car. The APT was also the worlds first tilting train (the technology for which was sold to the manufacturers of the Voyagers and Pendolinos). Oh, and that detail under the cabs is indeed a coupler on the real thing.
Got a chance to watch this good video of HO Bachmann Voyager now only. They look really good. BTW I have a 5 car Virgin Pendolino N Gauge set by Rapido Trains, Canada (I was one among the initial set of people who pre-ordered this N gauge and I had to wait nearly for 2 years to get it). Shall continue to watch your youtube channel whenever I can.
Also just for a bit of fact I guess, the 221/220's are both operated by Virgin and CrossCountry, CrossCountry also operate 222's (I believe) which are called Meridians, I have seen a few Voyagers at York station which was certainly interesting!
cool! i used to have one of these but it was the cross country version (and was bachman). £125 isn't really bad to be honest like you say, it was a very successful train i believe. (2:25) in real life there are engines in every car meaning its very powerful and is quick to get up to speed! (10:36) yes it is the coupling device in real life meaning it cant be connected to any other loco cant normaly connect to it good video :)
Nice one Sam. I know the real life 221s well, Cross Country use them on the North to South West routes and they pass my place at the rate of 2-3 an hour, Whats more as my family live in Torquay and my wifes family live in Birmingham we ride them a few times a year when we go visiting. Its the cross country ones that have the tilt mech disabled, but before Cross Country took over the North to South West franchise a few years back, Virgin ran the routes and the tilt was working. To be honest there is not a great deal of difference when your in the train. Those lumps on the front are couplers or at least model ones. Its so two or more sets can run in tandem (making a 8-10 coach set) and so the 'Thunderbird class 57 recovery locos can couple up to them in case of breakdown. The big silver unit on the roof is the air conditioning unit (I think). Have a great week end Jon
Hi Sam, I didn't know you did a review on the 221.. I scored a pack with the outer box, and it performed great out of the box. Noisy like yours at low speed, but runs superbly at full speed. I had the window issue as well.. It's a crack'n model though! Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the comment - ahh lucky you - they are pretty good runners, though not as powerful as they might be! Glad you like yours though! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Really enjoy your review of this stunning model. I model in N gauge and sadly that model is not a patch on your one. You do do fantastic reviews on all your models, is always great to see similar trains running together. The plastic bit on the ends is an electro magnetic coupling on the full size train. Obviously magnetic couplings atm are not possible on models as you know.
Id love to oblige you with a photo but it was a terrible runner, not able to negotiate corners, just sat there wheel spinning. Also continually derailing. Got so fed up with it I sold it, buying a farish class 350 desiro instead. Now that is an amazing model in both OO and N, better than the voyager if you fancy getting one. OO is more than stunning.
Hi Sam. Now this train...........is one that I am seriously considering buying, even though it's by Bachmann! Lol. Do you know if it has a 3 pole or 5 pole motor, or some other sort of motor in the power car? I might consider a 6 car set with two power cars evenly spaced. It's a lovely train, it has to be said. Would really appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you, Pete.
Thanks Pete - I agree with you - they are good looking aren't they? I think it's just a 3 pole motor in this one, but I'm not sure! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Ah yes those voyagers are troublesome! It puts me off getting a CrossCountry one for my ECML based layout which is a shame as for the modern image ECML (Present) there is so few to get in terms of passenger locomotives, I don't know though, would you recommend I get it?
Yeah very troublesome - definitely not very good on the rails really! You can improve them with some modification - but mine's still not perfect.... it's up to you really! :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I have the Cross Country class 221 super voyger. That works fine ( touch wood) not sure if Bachmann altered the design of the super voyger tilt mechanism in later models. Great video 👌
Thanks for sharing Matt! Many do say theirs are fine too - not sure if mine was a one-off fault or not, but it's more or less sorted now after I did that work! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I really like it. I'd like that set. It's a shame about the de-railments but clipping those springs seems to have worked. Quite a good speed, too, after a good run-in. Nice one mate :))
Hi Sam the 220s all were operated by Virgin Trains when new i think they are the same as the 221s but did not have the tilt fitted , now they are operated by Crosscounry Trains and at first they ran in Virgin colours without the transfers till repainted . They still do not like the waves at Dawlish as this kills them with water in the electonics , was a goiod review
I'm about 90% sure the rear bogey side frame is upside down on that first end unit, but it's an awesome looking train. Also hard to find now it seems, I looked on eBay and didn't see it anywhere.
It would make sense to all cars to be powered, and have their own motor (and I do believe those are radiators on the roofs). After all, I don't think having only the 2 end cars powered would provide enough electricity to the entire train to operate fully (air-condition, the "tilting" , doors, and the high speed running), or at least one of them supposed to be an actual full loco (like the other two has). Yes that thing on the end cars is an Automatic coupler, witch provides mechanical, pneumatic connections as well as electrical connections between vehicles, providing an optimized energy absorption. It is quite common on all modern railcars.
I spotted a single blue unit on the turntable, the two-car green DMU, the three-car Blue & Grey DMU and two proper stinky boxes on wheels. I've had a ride on a Virgin Train before. I neither liked nor disliked it greatly, but if I had a choice between that and the slower HST I'd choose the HST. Your Virgin Train pack was OK, but at full speed on your controller it looked like it might derail in an awkward spot sooner or later. Scary, as you said. Stick to the HSTs and DMUs; those aren't quite as scarily speedy at full power. I would rate your Virgin Train 4 out of 10. I'm not as impressed with it as others might be.
@@SamsTrains Yes I was driving the train through out all of the maps of Train Sim especially me going in different speeds and stopping at the stations.
another great video, but theres one thing i have noticed even though i have seen your reviews on a couple of mutiple unit sets, but one thing that has always made me curiouse as to why there were not many multiple unit sets, for example, class 455, class 450 deserios, class 319 old thameslink, class 158 sprinters, class 442s, even the old class 423, or class 415 epb, those are like trains we get on for real every day for work, did i also forget the class 377 electrostars,i ask you as you have a vast and detailed knowledge of model railways..
Sam, my friend owns this 5 car set that you have. This set is from about 2003/2004. It came in a big box, which had the product number on one end, not a sleeve. There was a dummy piece of polystyrene that filled the space. This was the same size as one of the boxes you have in this video. The outer box on your set you did not receive. The previous owner must of chucked it, which is a shame.
Thanks for the review Sam. I am going to be starting my layout soon. I want to have some working street lights. Can you recommend any to me. Tanks again.👍
No problem at all - Hmmm, I've never tried streetlights, I normally make my own lighting - have a browse online though, I'm sure there are plenty to choose from - though I would recommend using LED ones! Cheers, Sam :)
Thanks. I had led in mind, as I will be using some small led Christmas white lights, for inside my buildings. I shall continue search on Internet for street lights. There is also a shop near where I live, that gives excellent advice, I can ask them too. Cheers mate.
Great multiple unit shame for the performance also Sam just to add you know how I suggested the radial tank running session, i found the Lbsc e4 is also a radial tank so there's is defiantly a good variety of radial tanks
9:48 They should've made the windows more clear, so you can see the interior details! 10:13 I thought the horns were hidden on the top! 10:24 It is a multiple unti coupler! many DMUs and EMUs have this feature! the roller bit on top of it is the buffer part of it 16:11 have you ever found a replacement pantograph for the loco?
Thanks for all the info! These would look awesome with lights too! Nah I never did - I'm not too bothered about it if I'm honest ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
The device on the end is a coupler in real life. The way that coupler works would be complicated to make into a working model so its a dummy in model form
No, the coupling linkage is internal, its known as the scharfenberg coupler. the male female" connections are the physical coupling and the things on top or sides of the coupler are electrical connections.
I think the most iconic train on the WCML was the Pretendolino, being the last ever scheduled loco hauled train service for Virgin and the day-time running of the WCML as a hole, shame it isn't in service anymore, and a shame that not only is the Hornby model almost impossible to get hold off, the DVT is super detailed whilst the 90 is the old Hornby moulding with no lights, bit of a shame that and does pull me away from the set a bit, still might get one however. Cheers! Ed.
19:40 cow even though the dvt & class 91 have no front coupling, sadly Hornby never really fixed that, even on the Arriva mk3 DVT, also the class 91 sets ie 225 high speed trains are overhead electric only, so need a rescue loco for non electrified lines during diversions, and lastly yes all 4 or 5 coaches (5 car sets are 221 class) in the 220 or 221 class have a generator to power each coach (using electric) independently, but anyway nice video as usual
Hi sam love your videos have you considered doing a video comparing the haulage capacity of different models for instance can evening star a 9f pull 3 times as much as a jinty a 3f
That train's so heavy it sends vibrations around the whole floor when I run it and its not even on the floor. PS Class 221 is a Super Voyager, not just a Voyager (Class 220). I have the class 220 Voyager which basically derails when it reaches badly laid track!
have today bought a Class 220 in Germany for 15 euros, the seller said that is only toy 😂, even in lane N, he is unfortunately very expensive, I find a very nice move.
Ive got a 4 car one of them! Its dcc fitted no sound only lights and it gets used on dundee model railway clubs new layout "arbroath" and it looks nice!!!
No it's very similar though! I think I've already done yours - but I can't really let people choose when they are, otherwise it'd be chaos!! All the best, Sam :)
yeah yours, is missing the sleeve they sit in, voyagers or should I say a 221 and 220s have diesel engines under every carriage, I want one haha I love the voyagers in model cross country and virgin and the 221/220 owners and then there are midland mainline that own the 222s that are the marridians, they are a more superior train :) would be a very weird sight to see a 6/7 car set as the 221 are 5 car sets, apart from I think 2 and the 220s are the 4 cars, something I didn't know at first but these where built in Belgium and yes cross country don't run the tilting as they cant afford it and cant actually look after most of them they have I think the disable badge is to show this is where the disabled toilet is and this is the best coach for them to go through all though every coach I think has a toilet and yes that little bar on the front the connecting rod type thing is how they connect more than one voyager together, I don't hink the oupling things on the front work together till the cross country one was made I think the middle silver part on the roof is part of the air conditioning system, I kind of realized ive written a whole paragraph haha I hope that wasn't to much info :)
Thanks mate - yeah I thought as much! Thanks a lot for all the info too, and yeah that's true actually - I found out that they were a max of 5 after I'd said that! All the best mate, Sam :)
Hi Sam, Really enjoyed your video! Like you, I prefer steam locos but appreciate the more modern dmu's and demu's If I could make a Dmu suggestion, and one I would love to see reviewed on the channel, a class 158/159 by bachmann would be amazing to see. All the best and look forward to your next video!
That thing on the front is a Dellner coupler that includes brakes and heating in one assembly.
Duly noted! I had a feeling it was a coupler!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

I think you should do a re-review to see how this fairs up to the 2022 models. Just for a bit of fun

Thanks so much!! Hope to see you soon! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I think its about time you got a Pendolino Sam ;)
Great video too! Love the Virgin livery!
Cheers!
Ed.
Also just for a bit of fact I guess, the 221/220's are both operated by Virgin and CrossCountry, CrossCountry also operate 222's (I believe) which are called Meridians, I have seen a few Voyagers at York station which was certainly interesting!
haha thanks Ed, yeah I think it's about time too!
Thanks for the facts - that is interesting!
Cheers,
Sam :)
cool! i used to have one of these but it was the cross country version (and was bachman). £125 isn't really bad to be honest like you say, it was a very successful train i believe.
(2:25) in real life there are engines in every car meaning its very powerful and is quick to get up to speed!
(10:36) yes it is the coupling device in real life meaning it cant be connected to any other loco cant normaly connect to it
good video :)
Thanks a lot mate for the comment and the info, appreciate it! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Have a great week end
Jon
Thanks a lot for the info on those Jon, I think I may have just ridden on them the once, but it was very interesting!
All the best mate,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I used to own a cross country version of this, always ran smoothly. Unless there was a problem with the track ;). Good video Sam!
Very nice to hear that - yes generally it seems a decent runner, despite the issues I had!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks a lot John, I'd love to see this in N gauge - that size is super impressive to me!
Thanks for the info too,
Sam :)
Class 221 looks very smart in Virgin livery!
I agree, it really does! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Another amazing video with a very modern train I love you videos
Thanks so much for the comment - much appreciated!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Great video mate!! Looks like a great model but it's a shame about the speed. Is she dcc ready? - All the best mate :)
Thanks a lot! I believe these are not DCC ready, but it's simple enough to wire in a decoder or a socket - plenty of space in there!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
The diesel engine is likely contained underneath the train like in other modern DMUs.
Ahh duly noted, thanks for the info! :D
10:33 it is a coupling, also if you have a 390 set if you face the windows to the light you may be able to see the interior!!!
Nice review with the 221! I saw one yesterday!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The place you said the engine is is a luggage compartment or crew compartment I think
Ooh okay, thank you!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I like that your going into more modern engines and I don’t have anything against steam engines
Thanks a lot! I'm trying to get a nice balance!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I really like it. I'd like that set. It's a shame about the de-railments but clipping those springs seems to have worked. Quite a good speed, too, after a good run-in. Nice one mate :))
Thanks very much Tom, glad you liked the set,
All the best mate,
Sam :)
Hi Pete, many thanks for the info there - blimey, that sounds like a major design flaw then!!
Glad you enjoyed the video,
Sam :)
I don’t know if you found out Sam but the bits at the ends are couplers for the trains 🙂👍👍
Thanks a lot for this mate - duly noted!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains :)
I have ordered one but int XCountry livery as I prefer that
Great video, I really enjoyed this, Stay safe mate..
Ahh excellent - hope it turns out well for you! Stay safe mate,
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Just found out it was N gauge not OO so I have to cancel the order sadly :(
I'm about 90% sure the rear bogey side frame is upside down on that first end unit, but it's an awesome looking train. Also hard to find now it seems, I looked on eBay and didn't see it anywhere.
That's very interesting - I don't think they can be fitted upside down can they?! I will investigate!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam. Turns out what I saw was a class 90 in freightliner yellow and green
Ooh very nice, glad you found out in the end! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Yeah I suppose that's how they must have done it!
Thanks again for all the info mate,
Cheers,
Sam :)
It looks like it runs so smooth
Thanks Matty - yeah it not too bad this one!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I have this model too. Got it probably 8 years ago!
Thanks for the comment! Yeah that sounds about right - these are fairly old now! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Very well spotted as always - I'm surprised you watched this, given your thoughts on Diesels and electrics, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I knew a lady who drove a voyager 221, they got lost for seven years but that's another story. sorry I just couldn't resist ;)
hahaha! ;D
Sam by the way the front object of the voyager yes that is a cupling the only thing is it's to make the train look more realistic
Thanks for this Steve - yeah I thought that was the case - thanks for confirming! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for buying the train it helps my dad
Glad to hear that David, thank you! :D
Fun Fact: I actually saw this type of train when I was playing Train Sim which is a app available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
Ahh that's very awesome! Can you drive it?! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Yes I was driving the train through out all of the maps of Train Sim especially me going in different speeds and stopping at the stations.
Hey Sam, would another motor unit help? You could try getting one for better top speed and to ease the strain on the lone motor..
Yeah absolutely - I'm sure a 4 car set would be fine, but with 5 I think 2 motor cars would have been best!
All the best,
Sam :)
another great video, but theres one thing i have noticed even though i have seen your reviews on a couple of mutiple unit sets, but one thing that has always made me curiouse as to why there were not many multiple unit sets, for example, class 455, class 450 deserios, class 319 old thameslink, class 158 sprinters, class 442s, even the old class 423, or class 415 epb, those are like trains we get on for real every day for work, did i also forget the class 377 electrostars,i ask you as you have a vast and detailed knowledge of model railways..
Hi Jacob, thanks a lot for the info on those - yes I thought that would be the case!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Yes, your thoughts are right.
Hi love the video , but don't think she was ninth on the rankings!? It got just over 8/10 (fab score) but 10th place got 9.27/10
Ooh maybe there was an error there then?? I don't remember! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks. I had led in mind, as I will be using some small led Christmas white lights, for inside my buildings. I shall continue search on Internet for street lights. There is also a shop near where I live, that gives excellent advice, I can ask them too. Cheers mate.
My son is a big fan of your videos, and he's wondering if you'll be getting a Hornby class 390 Pendolino?
That's lovely to hear! I don't have plans to get one at the moment, but I hope I can get one some day! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains he's nearly 8 and getting his first 00 train set for his birthday.
Great review! by the way the "coupler buffer thing" in real like is a coupler. great detail! I wish I had one...
Thanks very much mate! Ahh is it?? I did wonder whether it was one!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains how long till the DMU?
Great video sam of the voyager
Thanks a lot George!
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
A really lovely model. I see these a lot and that is the coupling in real life. these and the Pendolinos are always covered in dead flies on the ends.
Thanks Philip - haha are they really?! I guess that does make sense, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great vid and I also met a nice Single Russian Beauty too! what's not to like?
Blimey - sounds like a great day for you ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
The thing on the front is indeed a coupling on the full scale 220/221. I believe it is a Delma coupler.
Ahh cool - thanks a lot for letting me know!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
No problem and thanks for replying.
Dellner
A fact: the number is 221101 and 221101 was the first avanti west coast to have the interior and exterior remade!
Great multiple unit shame for the performance
also Sam just to add you know how I suggested the radial tank running session, i found the Lbsc e4 is also a radial tank so there's is defiantly a good variety of radial tanks
Thanks a lot!
Ooh okay, that's cool - I'll see whatcha others I've got then!
Cheers,
Sam :)
9:48 They should've made the windows more clear, so you can see the interior details!
10:13 I thought the horns were hidden on the top!
10:24 It is a multiple unti coupler! many DMUs and EMUs have this feature! the roller bit on top of it is the buffer part of it
16:11 have you ever found a replacement pantograph for the loco?
Thanks for all the info! These would look awesome with lights too!
Nah I never did - I'm not too bothered about it if I'm honest ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Funny thing with these is that the real things feature privacy glass which isn't actually tinted but mirrored.
In real life the thing on the front is to couple them together like the class 350 and many more do, even the class 390 does😃. Anyway great review
Thanks a lot for sharing Ethan, sounds cool!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
R.I.P Virgin Trains
1997-2018
Gone But Not Forgotten
May It’s Legacy live In Model Form And In The Hearts Of Many
Yes indeed - a bit of a shame :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The device on the end is a coupler in real life. The way that coupler works would be complicated to make into a working model so its a dummy in model form
Ahh okay, that makes sense! Is it magnetic in real life then??
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
No, the coupling linkage is internal, its known as the scharfenberg coupler. the male female" connections are the physical coupling and the things on top or sides of the coupler are electrical connections.
The voyagers are not diesel electric , they work on the same principle of the sprinter units . Diesel engine , gear box & final drive
Duly noted, thanks for the info! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Cheers!
Ed.
haha pretendolino?! Don't think I've heard of that one before, lol!
Yeah you are right actually - hard to get hold of!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Thanks for the comment! Yeah it is a shame actually! Thanks very much for the interesting info on these too,
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hi sam love your videos have you considered doing a video comparing the haulage capacity of different models for instance can evening star a 9f pull 3 times as much as a jinty a 3f
Hi Andrew, thanks very much mate! Yeah that'd be very interesting - maybe I'll do that one day! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
That train's so heavy it sends vibrations around the whole floor when I run it and its not even on the floor. PS Class 221 is a Super Voyager, not just a Voyager (Class 220). I have the class 220 Voyager which basically derails when it reaches badly laid track!
haha yeah they are very heavy, that's true!! They've always had derailing issues - pretty badly designed unfortunately :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
these are nice locomotives and cool video
Thanks Chad! Glad you liked it,
Sam :)
11:05 in real life those are resistors with coolers mounted to them, for when the unit used regenerative braking
have today bought a Class 220 in Germany for 15 euros, the seller said that is only toy 😂, even in lane N, he is unfortunately very expensive, I find a very nice move.
That sounds fantastic - sounds like a good deal if you ask me! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Irl that device is indeed a coupling. The bulb and the hole couple th units together mechanically, and the bar on the top couples the electronics.
Ahh duly noted - I thought as much! Thanks for the info,
Cheers,
Sam :)
Ive got a 4 car one of them! Its dcc fitted no sound only lights and it gets used on dundee model railway clubs new layout "arbroath" and it looks nice!!!
Oh very nice! That does sound good - these do look great running! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains yes they look fantastic!
Sam'sTrains how long did your laypout take to make? It looks fantastic :) !
A beautiful model and a great video
Thanks a lot! Much appreciated! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Isn’t that pendalino?oh and one more question... on the day of my shout out can you do the Flying Scotsman?
No it's very similar though! I think I've already done yours - but I can't really let people choose when they are, otherwise it'd be chaos!!
All the best,
Sam :)
Ok but didn’t you say you were going to do mine in December?
yeah yours, is missing the sleeve they sit in, voyagers or should I say a 221 and 220s have diesel engines under every carriage, I want one haha I love the voyagers in model cross country and virgin and the 221/220 owners and then there are midland mainline that own the 222s that are the marridians, they are a more superior train :) would be a very weird sight to see a 6/7 car set as the 221 are 5 car sets, apart from I think 2 and the 220s are the 4 cars, something I didn't know at first but these where built in Belgium and yes cross country don't run the tilting as they cant afford it and cant actually look after most of them they have I think the disable badge is to show this is where the disabled toilet is and this is the best coach for them to go through all though every coach I think has a toilet and yes that little bar on the front the connecting rod type thing is how they connect more than one voyager together, I don't hink the oupling things on the front work together till the cross country one was made I think the middle silver part on the roof is part of the air conditioning system, I kind of realized ive written a whole paragraph haha I hope that wasn't to much info :)
Thanks mate - yeah I thought as much! Thanks a lot for all the info too, and yeah that's true actually - I found out that they were a max of 5 after I'd said that!
All the best mate,
Sam :)
Nice video, I quite like the Voyagers.
Thank you! Yes they are very stylish! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hi Sam,
Really enjoyed your video!
Like you, I prefer steam locos but appreciate the more modern dmu's and demu's
If I could make a Dmu suggestion, and one I would love to see reviewed on the channel, a class 158/159 by bachmann would be amazing to see.
All the best and look forward to your next video!
Hi William, many thanks mate - that's good to hear, glad you like them for a change!
Okay sure - I'll take a look at those one day! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
The other company that has the voyagers is cross country trains
Ahh that's right - thanks for letting me know Oliver! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Fabulous Sam .
Love this train!
Thanks a lot mate! :D
