It is amazing the range of vocabulary birds like Giz have. I wonder what he's heard over the years and how much he's absorbed. Thank you for posting videos of him, I always love these moments of hearing Giz talk.
He’s obviously been listening to a lot of talking as well as having been talked to a lot. That’s the only way they are able to learn a large vocabulary and also learn how to build sentences and use them in actual communication. This opposed to many (probably most) birds who just reproduce single words or short sentences the’ve been taught, but without actual understanding and usage in context. I bet that Gizmo’s ability to master human language has helped him adjust to his new and better life! He’s just such an amazing little gray man, couldn’t help but fall in love with him, he is just so cute and funny with his gift for snark and humour! 🤗😍🥰🦜👏👏👏💓
I love birds, actually all animals and this Grey Parrot is such a special bird. I am so glad he came to live with you. His story broke my heart. I have a bonded pair of love birds and two cats that are my life now that my kids are all gone. He is such a happy well cared for bird.
I love Giz, I'm following him for a while. The thing I don't understant is : how a bird can't fly unless he has his feathers or wings cut (which would be an abomination). Ok you tell : he's been in cage for so much time. But please, he has wings ! Make him fly, please, or at least try. Happy new year.
His wings have atrophied. If a bird has never been properly fledged (taught by its bird parents) it won’t necessarily learn. Birds HAVE to be shown how to fly. Believe it or not it is not in it to them. I am quite certain that they are doing everything they can to help Gizmo, if in fact there is any possibility that he can fly. They take him to an Avian Vet. If he was not shown by his bird family, kept in a cage for 16 years, and he has no clue how to fly and his wings have literally lost all of its muscle so he couldn’t fly. He could maybe get a bit of lift but wouldn’t know how to land. It’s very very hard to fly you must have incredible muscle strength to do it. Maybe do some research on this like I have done. It’s really kind kinda unkind to ask them over and over why he can’t fly. They do EVERYTHING for this beautiful bird! If they could make him fly they would! I don’t have a bird, but I love them and I’m curious about all these things that impact these incredible creatures. I was shocked to find out that it’s not something they’re automatically born with and flying as soon as they get feathers. It’s not like that. 😮❤ Wishing you a happy new year and you and I can continue to enjoy gizmos growth and vocabulary as well as his fabulous personality!!🙋🏼♀️🇨🇦🦜🕊
