I have the same gold wing minus the color mine is red 2005 .I would buy 2006 and up because of the alternator drive gear problems 2001 to 2005 models .the goldwin will out last most Harley's many times over.
After 30 years of Harleys I finally came to my senses and traded in my 2013 Road Glide Custom for a 2013 F6B, best move I ever made. More comfortable, reliable, cooler, powerful and cheaper to maintain. Break in maintenance at 5000, Harley is 500. The torque is ridiculous. It truly is the "Road Sofa". Best bike I ever owned and only bike I'll ever own.
I have a Yellow 2003 with really close to 92K miles and still love it. I heavily customized it and just a few days ago put a Ultimate Seat “ King” on it, haven’t gotten to try it yet.
Thank you, I'm buying my first Goldwing TOMORROW!!! It's a 2007 with 29,000 miles on it in excell condition. I'm so excited. I ride a Harley Electra Glide and a Fatboy.
@@tmpdxb Its Blue, it is now 4:12 in the morning and I can't sleep. Right now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.....I'm 65 years old. I'm buying the bike for $7,500 dollars. I will let you know how the 3 hour ride home goes.
@@tmpdxb Hoy, I'm home. Ok, it's a wonderful bike, it is smooooooth. I'm 6'3 and I need to stretch my legs. This is the biggest concern I have about it right now. It needs highway pegs asap. It was a 3.5 hour ride home and occasionally I had to sit half way back towards the passenger portion of the seat just to stretch my legs. Next, it felt like I needed to shift gears one more time above 55mph but at 3000 rpm equals 70mph the exact same as my Electra Glide. My Electra Glide is also a 5 speed so that's the same. Next, after riding my Electra Glide for so long the Goldwing felt small.... real small. I couldnt believe how small it felt. The Goldwing is easier to handle that's for sure but it still feels small. All in all, I'm glad to have it. This is going to be my everyday pony.
Still driving my 2003 model with 130,000 kms on it and it looks and runs as good as the day it left the factory. Wouldn't sell if for a newer one as that would take substantial money to customize it to my driving preferences. Besides at 80, it will likely outlast me anyway.....best bike I have ever owned in 65 years of driving
i have the same bike in red, got it last year August with 30k miles did 5k miles in 2 months. absolutely love it, not an old man bike like everyone thinks. amazing machine.

Had a 2002 Gold Wing...Rode it all over the U.S. for 128,000 miles..No major issues..Serviced regularly..never had to check the oil...Only sold it cause I wanted The New 2022 GW Tour..!!! Bought The DCT at age of 72...perhaps a bit optimistic..???
I have a 2010 yellow GW with just under 10k miles when I bought it. I waited 6 months for it to arrive in Germany where I currently work and it has just over 10k now. I love it. My dad had 1100 and 1500 when I was younger. Great motorcycles. I believe the oil filter is easier to access on the earlier models of the 1800.
I have one same year and color garage kept with only 16k miles on it. Really thinking of selling it ! Really just bought it to look at it since I've always loved them. Hate to sell but, wife thinks It's taking up to much space and plus I don't really have to much time to go enjoy it ! : /
My 1st Goldwing was 2005 anniversary model with 75,000 miles. That was in 2011 or so. Put @30,000 miles and sold it to but a boat. Got tired of boating and ground a 2007 4 years later and still riding it. Goldwings are supposedly a 300,000 mile bike if cared for and some had gone over 500,000 miles on original engine.
Nice bike! I have a 2009. You mentioned the liquid cooling and hot weather in Dubai. Be aware it is possible to over heat the wing due to the reverse cooling fans. I would encourage you to research this issue so that you will know how to avoid situations that might cause over heating. Thanks!
Very interesting. Let me research. We have few heat up issues this month. The weather is extremely hot. Some afternoons crossed 50C. I’m assuming it could be either an old radiator, faulty fans or the water pump.
@@tmpdxb Hello again, if you have access to Google, type “GL1800 Overheating” it is a known issue and one of Honda’s biggest mistakes. The good news is that if you know what causes the overheating it is relatively easy to avoid the situations that can cause it.
@@tmpdxbWhat is the oxymoron in Reverse cooling fans, if it's pushing the air forward the driving is canceling it out so there's no wind flow!!! They haven't figured that out in 50 years of making Goldwings?
Nice review. 👍🏼 Wanna test drive one soon. I've seen a 2005 model for a reasonable price with 48.000 km. I'm also looking into a BMW K1600GT which is maybe a little bit more sporty. Not considering a Harley at all actually. We're going to move and I need to do a 550 km trip (one way) every other week. Maybe even 3 or 4 times a month. Drive up one day and get back the next. This seems the bike to do that.
It’s the most tedious maintenance item to do on a wing but if you can turn a screwdriver, handle a ratchet and are organized, it’s not rocket science. Takes about three hours if you take your time
Hello, you can go for TPL. It will cost you around 700. For the garages. Many are available. I suggest you to use honda service Centre. Very helpful. If you need any assistance. You can contact me at 0588450320.👍🏼
@@loansharky I see. Well the cooling system between the 2001-2005 is smaller than the 2006-2017. We are based in the Middle East. In summers the temperature touches almost 50 degree. Extremely hot. Specially the air cooled motorcycles have issues with over heating during city rides or traffic friendly areas. On the contrary during long runs both bikes perform almost the same but there is one difference where I prefer the Goldwing over the ultra is the way the aerodynamics and the airflow is designed. In the ultra the wind hitting the cylinders later hits the passengers legs. Which can be an absolute misery in summers for the passenger, but the Goldwing is designed different. The aerodynamics are different. The airflow is totally different to the passenger doesn’t suffer. Enjoy your ride.
@@tmpdxb I wonder the same thing. Why not record in a normal horizontal orientation so you're getting more of the bike and less of the bush and sidewalk
