Let me know if you have any questions about utility! I love helping people understand better.

How can I deal more damage with HE grenades?
In your opinion is it worth throwing HE nades and checking for util damage in a random faceit game like in that bit demo review you did or should I play to use them when I confirm someone's position already for guaranteed damage? I suppose my way of looking at it is sometimes my opponent will do the exact same default 12 rounds in a row so I can shut them down but sometimes it will be completely random with different people taking initiative/space with different timings etc on any given round.
Sorry for yapping 😂
Speaking of throwing the same utility on every round, how would you consider the banana Molotov on inferno( or in general default utility to gain map control in some other maps)
Good video. I am only Faceit level 8 and I feel I am actually good at doing utility on the fly, but I get what you mean. Many people don't have the mental capacity in a pressed situation to use whats available to them and come up with solutions. I feel when I play with lower level players Faceit 1-5, they are better off not buying much utility - especially flashes and HE, because SOOOO often they get caught fumbling with nades or causing harm to teammates, that they would do better just having their gun in hand. Understanding WHEN you have time to throw something an not gonna get swung on is also a crucial skill.
Is there any counter-utility you can share when trying to counter a T execute on A while behind a smoke?
Ur right, I don't understand how I throw utility from the back of a rush and I'm still entrying
So true it hurts!
Every time!
Yuuuuuup
Guy with a ramp spawn: "go a ramp guys I'll flash for you"
Like no sir WE will flash YOU out
my favourite is when someone is a 1v1 clutch and someone says "you have util" and they throw a random nade that gives away their position which gives the enemy an easy kill
Or, instead of bouncing it or throwing it over something, they completely expose themselves to throw the nade and get shot with it in their hands. This happens ALL the time.
@@pagatryx5451 And then blame others for telling them about the util xd
@@AwrixelCODMI am definitely blaming you. If I am 1v1 and know the position of the opp, you should be shutting the fuck up and let me play.
People always talk about warmup and how they play aimbots. But no one ever says that they jump around a map for 30 min to just throw util and get a better understanding of them.
I have spent countless hours doing it. My leet util score is almost always above 80 every match, usually in the 90's(well above the average FL10 apparently). It's incredibly useful to just dick around to see how util reacts in random situations.
@@ayo5549 I can only agree. Especially in Cs2 utility has a much bigger impact than in Go.
i like the yapping
better content than "Play like S1mple"
AND IT IS FREE
Not that hard
Sometimes when I am in a "I am stuck step-bro" and I have some utility I do not throw it for the sole reason that I am such an unlucky bastard that the moment I pull the nade out, the guy peeks immediately. You have no idea how many times I died like that to the point I have a PTSD in such situations and I choose not to throw my utility.
The understanding of trajectories is especially crucial with flashes imo. When a teammate asks for one you have to throw it within a second and know exactly where it pops so it goes far enough to actually blind but not too far to give them time to dodge. You need to envision how the angle looks like from the enemy's pov to realize which flashes won't do shit. I did this running around the map and throwing util for hours mostly to better understand those distances.
great way of practicing flashes is to throw HEs since they have the same fuse time

As a newer player with a little over 500 hours csgo 2 taught me that I was such a bot on my first 100 hours LOL I love getting better at cs.
GigaChad 💪
ur gonna get so addicted lol been there before xd
Damn bro 500 hours playtime gang🤝
Just got 500 hours yesterday lol
@@kalyogo970 depends on him tho? How fast he learns and the time he spends on yt and demos. I was 2,2k elo after 1700hours. Ik i still was bad and still am. But i was kinda close to 3k elo at around 2k hours. Thats not ‘’thousands’’
@@Lukas-NLYou should check out the player distribution chart in premier for ranking. Average is aroun 8-12k. I think with that many hours you may be dueling smurfs and struggling with bad teammates. Try to find some people to play with, at that rank I would load up some casual, try and stay top 3 and when you meet cool people that can play well when you spectate them, add and invite for comp. Youll find hundreds of people quickly that way if your stuck around 3k.
Love this stuff Austin!! Been following you for a while and all your videos have been top tier. I’ve mostly watched the short form content you make but videos like these are great. Plus your thumbnail game is top tier. Excited to see more!
As a silver I can confirm that after this video I ran out and died 7 rounds in a row with nade in hand
Real 😢
This is amazing. I think a lot of the beginners are not struggling with the lack of lineups they know, but the ways of using them and what they can do with them. It's rly helpful.
i BETTER understand it because all my utility knowledge comes from you
im genuinely surprised i had thought about most of these and this just confirmed that i actually need to implement it in my game. I would love a video like this about positioning because its a thing i struggle with a lot when i play.
this is one of the most helpful cs2 video i have probably watched. you have gained a subscriber
Picked up the game a month ago and I find every single video you put out helpful af
Thanks for uploading this at the perfect time, when I was just talking about these things with my mates. Not that I am any good at this..
Love this kind of video Austin, thank you!
i think the worst type of utility is the flash or smoke they pull, when they absolutely shouldn't, trying to free-hand and string something together. it sometimes just takes way too long. this is so detrimental especially in 1on1 and especially if the guy knows you have mediocre aim. he really can just challenge you to a straight up aim duel and you have your flash or util still in hand.
this is actually really helpful to me, utility is something I always struggled with and this is the first video I've seen that has broken it down to where I can fully understand it
w video, ive been grinding for a little now in 5 mans and am getting pretty close to level 10. they also helped me improve my nadeusage a lot and for a couple of weeks im learning one new nade a day+ prac the lineups a bit which helps out a ton just to get into using utlity efficiently or on the fly
Great video! This will really help my teammates who die and give the enemy util every round then keep buying it! But fr, great video, when I reached global in csgo I realized nobody could use utility at any rank.
I noticed on mirage B site you mollied market door on the right but I wonder if the left would be better so that your molly can be thrown deeper and prevent the angle on site.
Also throwing the same utility set can be valuable to show the tendency that you’re not going to use it, with the plan to use it later. IE on cache, smoke A main every round, but on the 6th round you walk behind it and jump on the boxes to peek over it
Love these videos, feels like im in CS university
Holy f austin this one is a goated banngaaa ❤❤ I feel smarter also downloaded bubble to practice on the fly trajectories KAPPA. Love it mate. You are that guy... nade guy
I love how he assumes we are all dumb and clueless right in the beginning of the video 😊
Great video. Keep runnin and yappin
austincs: you need become one with the smoke
me: yes master
at 7:00 it's basic thing that i know, but when solo q i usually throw that (not needed smoke) cuz my teammates usually don't info if they move from window and most times they don't even use mics, But when i play with people that i know i throw less useless smokes for cover
8:01 - "you seen Magisk throw in 2018"

Yep, you got me on the connector smoke use part hahaha, and yes im level 6, very sharp sir

Underrated channel, keep up the good work
6:25 is funny i always walk looking down and when i see the flash everyone inmediately checks palace and the entry of A and surprises the whole team with molotovs throw from jungle and ct XD
forgot to mention the part where people throw nades when no one ask for them specialy flashes
preciate you Austin
actually good vid for ones started the game today and alredy feel like i have an better understanding for it
thx
amazing video austin
Thank you austin for this, I'm faceit 8 trying to get to 10 and I found myself doing some of the things you mentioned. On mirage I flash smoke A everytime and its a tell if I don't that we're going B. I forget that I can accidentally give the enemy team info like that when I notice the enemies doing it all the time. It's so hard to introspectively review my own gameplay.
agree about the things you said about wasting the flash nad wasting your smoke and molo. But at a higher level that also comes in to hand with conditioning them with ytour default util and doing something else that one round
Enjoyed the yapping
I know one thing Austin! It’s that your combo is fire!!!
Person window is going to be smoked every round at high level so in what scenario are they going to make contact where i would wait to throw con smoke?
so thats why i used to feel invincible in low level i used to throw utility and play around it didnt know lineups but my coach said dont waste utility like that and then i stoped and now i feel like im so bad in low level thank you austin ill start doing free hand utility again
just need to get better understanding and practise a lot i join major next year rember me
Beautiful glove knife combo Austin
Thanks Austin! It's always a good thing to take a step back at WHY we throw utility and get creative with it.
Have a good one!
As someone who's watched higher level CS for a while, I've always wondered why sometimes you will see pros just flash angles when no one on their team is close enough to peek off of it. Is it just to make someone who is watching that angle possibly fall back and project control over an area, or is there more to it than that?
Keep up the yappin my man, good vid
My take on utility before watching the video is it’s a tool to solve problems. Lineups are a trap, you think you’re getting better because you did some homework but you’re probably wasting them. You can deal with most things you need a smoke lineup for in other ways if you thought about it
Everyone should know at least basic lineups so whomever takes the leader role can call a strat and people can implement it. Even a small amount of organization will massively improve win rate. Lineups are for times that you are safe, or likely to be safe. Improvisation is for when you have a dire need to quickly break your enemy's prediction of how a situation will play out. Doing something as simple as merking them with a flash can entirely mess up their plan and timing to the point where they are heavily off balance. That's when improvisation is its most powerful. Austin's suggestion to practice it is one of the best videos he's ever made. Having even a rudimentary idea of how util will react in random situations/angles is incredibly strong.
high quality small channel, new sub time
I did enjoy this style of video 😊
9:50
I just know he threw it perfectly the first time and had to make a cut and throw it again until he actually missed
I'd also like to add that throwing the same util every round isn't inherently bad (especially if it's just a flash) if you use it to condition your enemy. Just make sure you don't play against your own conditioning if you do decide to use repeated utility. :)
Great content, keep going.
Can you do a video on solutions to getting stuck on the A site of the new vertigo?
good vid and info pogchamp
Step austin im stuck
Professor Austin is in daa hooooouse 😎
This is why I miss mr16 a lot, even in pugs grenade conditioning was a lot better, and you had more gun rounds to play around with
Thank you Austin 🫶
I like this style of video
mans on that addy
Thanks austincs, I'm totally guilty of throwing util for the sake of it. Going to try and be more calculated in future!
If he ain’t yappin I ain’t havin it 😤😤
this actually is a rlly good video
Keep making these map yappin' videos.
Sad that people who play cs just awkwardly stand there and throw a smoke in the air and flash their teammates when pushing a site or when they see an enemy in a site entrance
Wow, your loadout is gold
Hi Austin. Just question on util that Ropz throws every round on T side on nuke. Grenade to blow squeeky doors and smoke vent. I was thinking about it and also cuz i saw demo review you made on him...i think you said hes doing it on purpose cuz it allows him and his team to execute more strategies in different rounds. I mean, few rounds ropz doesnt have to do anything. Next round he can go vent and they can do B site. Next round they can do A site with rain coming into main and karrigan into heaven. I mean, in this situation and this exact map it is cool to throw same util every round, isnt it? It is also little mind game with enemies and it allows team to execute rounds differently. Thank you, much love :)
This is amazing.
Looks like I understand utility then :D Great video. Tho I'd say pros have line up when it could seem unnecessary, but it makes sure 100% the time the nade will be perfect, for example mollying A ramp from CT spawn mirage. I'm surprised you haven't talked about HE damage as in my lvl10 games it's rare that i see team mates with 200+ HE damage at the end of the game. I'm surprised you didn't talk about all the ways to throw a flash, or for example smoking behind you, like smoking the inferno B entrance as CT and play sandbags. I mean that would end up behind a 1hour video lol
How do you know when to save your nades?
eg Dust 2 CT side B. Team calls for rotate A. I would usually throw my Molly tunnels to slow a potential lurker. But is it better spent elsewhere?
this sounds like the correct play to me. saving nades is just a gamble sometimes to have them later in the round so you can have an advantage late round
really useful video for players of all ability! thanks
The one time that none of this applies, is situations where if you don't default throw the utility you will be fucked. Nuke for example. Outside molly default, sqeaky, even trophy if the enemy has been making fast plays a lot. IMO the only times you should really stray from this is if you are specifically set up with a plan to deal with a push without using the utility, which will differ from most general setups in positioning. Car on Inferno is another good example, not getting some sort of Banana control will seriously hinder whatever side doesn't own Banana. If the T's don't own car, that round is often done. Bottom Banana is very difficult to fight if you don't own the boiler/arch. Your point still stands of making sure your utility has a very good reason for being used though, I think my point here is a pretty good supporting example for how important it is to be mindful with utility.
I love this guy
How do i get those utility throw/bounce lines to help train?
AustinCS, the only channel fir which i have to put playbackspeed to 0.75.
Thanks for the video mate.
your videos never fail to make me want to play this dreadful game
Fantastic vid my guy. I will say, you love to talk conditioning, so sometimes you can throw a set that you do nothing with 3 rounds in a row to really use it on the 4th and get an edge. But I also know why you would not talk about that in the context of this one!
What ramp flash does on mirage in ~ 6-7lvl faceit is usually makes ct's think it's a rush, so they will throw all their utility in ramp. Always did this, it's just a flash, but ct's mindlessly waste their smokes, nades and mollies
im quite a new player and actually understand these type of plays but the problem is that i dont have enough map knowledge to throw the smokes in an effective way
In conclusion: *1.* Be able to throw utility on the go; without a precise lineup during a round that creates advantages to you and your teammates *2.* Don't show the same utility behavior to your opponents every round; mix your utility usage up.
Awesomely done. Yes. People need to be more dynamic. Engineer their own trows.
been watching many of your vids but always forget to ask you how to remove the smokes after thrown. Could I have the commands please?
Good video thanks ❤
8:49 if you are throwing utility every round you will make the opponents focus on b side Like what ropz does in Nuke
mix it up, if you go apps and make noise they'll have to respect your B presence too. No need to throw the same util set over and over again.
i enjoyed running and ytapping
played a match yesterday with 500 util damage all from vertigo mid.
good util can be disheartening to play against
An obvious point I'd like to make is that in clutch situations, while nades can be very useful, shooting should take priority over throwing nades. The amount of times I've died with a nade in my hand because I didn't want to "waste" is unheard of.
This is an eye opener to me, probably a problem with RUclips tutorials in general. Someone experiments and finds out an ideal way to do something and then makes a video about his solution. Then everyone copies the solution without thinking about how and why it came to be so while they have the perfect solution to the problem, it doesn't translate over well into real life where solutions need to be come up with on the fly.
I like me some lurk smokes!
I just did a demo analysis from a level 9 faceit player and should definetly watch this video :D.
love your vids, microphone level rather quiet. sucks to turn it up for 1 video and have to turn it back down for every other video.
This dude is solid
thanks
TY
I have problems varying my utility on ct. I play A anchor on mirage and most of the time have to molly to stop a potential rush and flash mid which leaves me with smoke and nade/flash. If the Ts decide on an A take i usually just try to smoke off to give time for rotations and try to flash for a peek/fall of position. This often gets countered fast by the Ts and except for switching positions they know what I will do in advance, any tips to switch things up. (Playing lvl9 5 stack so u can criticize teamplay)
if you're left to solo a with just a smoke on you then what you can do it jump spot ticket and throw a lurk smoke in front of yourself to help defend site and also play retake. a lot of times smoking off ramp or palace won't be enough to stop a hit coming in especially if your team is taking mid.
2:31 uhh triple or Tetris?💀
