For any console players melee it and walk backwards and you will get the same result
Not really, when you melee the jump pad it's more a vertical jump and has basically 0 forward momentum

U can also do it without the jump. The moment u touch the pad just perform a tapstrafe.
You don't even need to tap strafe. Just buffer the input direction you want to go. Much easier with a punch but also doable with a slide or even running.
@@electrified0 of course u can do it without a tapstrafe. But its way more efficent and faster if u get it down instead of doing the punch and the other methods. U dont wanna waste time just for a jumpad tapstrafe.

@@MikeGrau0hr The jumpad counts as a jump TOO. Aslong u can jump, or get a jump, u can tapstrafe. A jumpad is no different, just imagine u are jumping, instead of the jumpad.

I've been playing apex since 2019. I still have no idea
Short answer. You know how when you turn a corner you slow down then speed up again? Tap strafing is jumping with a set of inputs on a keyboard which allows you to keep moving at normal speed instead of slowing down.
Long answer. While moving your character moves at a speed determined by an in game value of velocity. By ''tap strafing'' you keep that velocity value while making sharp turns (to immediately move behind cover or around a building for example.) To do so you take advantage of a mechanic called ''lurch.''
''Lurch is a .5 second period of time (with the first .2 seconds of this period being more intense) after any and all jumps where directional inputs will push you in the direction you pressed.'' ~ Some dude on Reddit.
There's plenty of movement mechanics that take advantage of lurch, most of them some form of strafe, but tap strafing is the most iconic one. Apex is a part of the titanfall universe and uses the same enginge the titanfall games used (IIRC.) Tap strafing was named tap strafing at least as far back as Titanfall 2. Its name carried over as a result.
@@Meowthix Excellent explanation! I'll just add that, since they just started playing, I'd say they should start with the basics of movement (mokeysniper is an excellent source for that) before going into that rabbit hole
@@raulguimaraesreis6640 You dont really even need most movement techs tbh. Like most of them are flashy but impractical. Straight up the only movement tech i'd say is a ''must learn'' is a tap strafe. Even something like a wall bounce you RARELY need in any practical manner.
Like i'd say literally 99/100 times i wall jump it's just because and provides nothing. There's like a 1/100 time where i survive a spray or a kraber shot or something that'd otherwise kill me.
Movement is flashy and LOOKS cool but just isn't very practical.

Honestly Idk why tap strafes haven’t been removed from the game. Insanely useful movement tech that only pc players can do? Really isn’t fair for the rest of the other players.
because it was an intentional mechanic for the movement only thing unintentional is binding it to a scroll wheel

@@Chipbayles the way joystick input works you'd have to remove analog movement to get tap strafing to work and the devs dont want to do that as it'd piss off allot of casuals

in theory tapstrafing could work on console - never heard of anybody doing it tho - you would have to be inhumanly fast ^^
@MikeGrau0hr fair, makes sense. I have kinda, half @$$, tapstrafed before, but it wasn't very good nor consistent. I have decent movement, though, but not nearly like some of the PC players.
@@Regular119 you need additional buttons like backpedals bound to "forward" (while holding the stick to the side) to be able to do full tapstrafes. otherwise youre just "lurching" a bit :)
Tap Strafing and other similar movement techs use this thing called ''lurch.''
To keep it simple. Lurch is turned off for all controllers (Xbox, PS, even PC roller players.) It is also turned off for all console only lobbys. So even if you were to use soft/hardware to emmulate MnK on a console it wouldn't work.
The exception being steam configs where you can kind of bind your movement keys (WASD) to your controller. Which bypasses the restrictions.
@@Regular119 High sens players on console can just lower the amount of time their velocity dips. Unfortunately the core mechanic that allows tap strafing isn't turned on for console only lobbys.
Or just slide on the jump pad towards the direction u wanna go
PC players complain about getting rid of tap strafe. Try playing few rounds of Apex on console. Then go back and play PC. Be greatful for what you have. We're playing half a game on console.

Tap strafing should be removed tbh. It's an unfair advantage that mnk players have over roller players. Hate on my comment if you mnk players want to, idgaf😂😂
I rarely see anyone tap strafe on pc, I can’t do it. Whereas every roller has aimbot. I used to be on ps4 and could 1 clip people all day but doing it on mnk is way harder. There’s pros and cons to each and mixing them will never be fair but I don’t think removing movement from a movement game is the solution
