Probably the most beautiful board I have ever seen. Don't know the lucky person who has it, but I bet they don't cut on it. Thanks so much for sharing.
Outstanding. More art rather than manufacturing. I make my boards 1 or a few at a time. Each is unique and beautiful with a high luster finish. I think most of my customers use them as decoration. I'm not making end grain boards yet - no room in the shop for a drum sander. I suppose I could use a router sled and a belt sander.
Hello! Endgrain certainly makes you work for it, however you do unlock a whole new set of designs and ways of building. Workshop space is always a challenge, A Router sled/belt sander should work in the meantime.
You an inspiration to those of us starting out. Since we are new stepping out of the norms is risky if you can’t get the out of the box product sold. Thank you keep up the videos.
I appreciate the kind words 🙌 I would totally agree in saying that veering away from "norm" is risky, and I Would keep some of the more cookie cutter boards in stock (still add your personal flare to those) but also build boards that make you feel good. Experimenting with new ideas is the key to not burning out in the shop, I wish you all the best on your woodworking journey!! Also Walnut is always a good seller!
I have watched a hundred cutting board videos but your videos really hit the mark. filmed very well, more informative than others i've watched and just downright beautiful work. bravo
Thanks so much! I like to challenge myself creatively as much as possible, and build from the heart. I am still trying to get the hang of videos and the editing process but hopefully it'll all come together.
Sweet work! I made some boards for my wife and kids, last year but have been shied away from end grain boards because I’ve heard about them exploding when being thickness planed, I like the way you used your router to plane it. I’ll have try that. Thanks!
First of all I absolutely enjoy your videos..! You have inspired me to try some new ideas I've had. Quick questions bud. Is it ok to have a glue seem directly down the center & with a border like you did are you worried about movement of the wood?
Lol… I do not know woodworking but I must say one of the best boards I’ve seen on RUclips. I like your style and subscribed to the channel to be part of your woodworking community. Tnx! 👍
Your art is inspirational and will no doubt take me in a whole new direction... from craft to art. Thank you so much. Your presentations are as inspirational as your art and reflect your deep commitment and connection to nature. Also thank you so much for sharing your camp site info in an earlier video. Because of it I feel connected to who you are and the harmony you must have in your life .
I think I enjoy woodworking so much because of the direct connection to nature, its been a great way to use up some creative energy! I really wanted to go in a completely different direction with my cutting boards, designs that aren't from a computer program but rather organic and abstract. I appreciate your feedback! 🙌
Fabulous! Thanks for another technique in designing the end grain's pattern. I see you are using a combo bit to rip. I am a huge fan of the Freud "Glue Line Rip" because it cuts right through thick hardwoods with my 3hp table saw and makes a better edge for gluing than a jointer. IMO, of course.
First class work, Jacob and excellent production in all regards. Thank you, I really enjoyed it and it’s certainly inspired me to attempt my first board.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words! I hope to keep breaking down the process and help make it a little easier for someone to try one. Endgrain boards are a little more work but the results are unmatched! In a upcoming video I plan to make "the simplest endgrain board possible", Stay tuned for that and thanks for your support!
Hi Jacob, absolutely love your work. I’m just starting to make my first cutting board and your videos are helping me with the confidence I need. Very inspiring for sure… Thanks for sharing…. Raymond…
Thats awesome!! Endgrain boards are a little more challenging than others but you get unmatched results. One of my upcoming videos will be about the easiest endgrain board to build, and it might be worth a watch!! Thanks for the support!!
Looks Awesome. How in the world can you picture what it will look like in the end? I don’t think that part of my brain works I can’t ever tell what it will look like or envision it. Lol
I primarily use 4/4, 5/4, and 8/4 lumber to start with. I use a local Hardwood supplier but have also found Craigslist, and Facebook marketplace as good resources. I personally like to hand pick my boards which is why I've never shopped online but that may be a good option as well.
Looking at getting into board building myself I’ve seen tons of really fancy patterns and designs which are great But I think I prefer your method of letting the grain make the pattern it’s really zen 👌
Absolutely stunning board. Well done mate. Just a question, how much value do you think the "music" adds to your video? Speaking only for myself, I'd rather watch channels that don't have any inane "music" spoiling the experience. Most channels I say this to will flip me the bird but I don't mind at all cause I won't be watching any more of their videos anyway.
Can you make a video on how to actually do the technical stuff. Like how to setup the router and jig you made how/what you’re finishing it with? This is absolutely gorgeous btw
That, Sir, is a work of art!
You do a great job young man! This is coming from an old man (77) who’s been making custom furniture for 59 years
Functional art. Outstanding!
Thanks!! This was my first time using Zebrawood, a gorgeous species that goes really well with walnut.
Fantastic job especially adding the zebra wood border.
Thanks 🙌
Most beautiful cutting board I have ever seen!!.
Very Much Appreciated!! 🙌
Probably the most beautiful board I have ever seen. Don't know the lucky person who has it, but I bet they don't cut on it. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for the kind comments! It really was a beautiful board and it went to a good home.
The rock! Lol, got to love end grain.
Wow, wow, wow! That is stunning.

😁
So gorgeous. Hope you’re making more videos soon fo whatever you’re making

Breathtaking
🙏 This one even surprised me, I'll have to revisit this one day.
Im glad I saw this. I didnt think tonadd the zebra wood into the huge 24” x 34” cutting board I am making.
I just recently started working with Zebrawood, its pricey but pure eye candy!
Beautiful board. Very creative work. Thanks for sharing.
This is a video you can smell! If you have worked with zebra wood before. It stinks! Beautiful board!
Walnut smells so good so I wonder what the shop smells like
You are a master and only hope to be as good one day
Thats very kind, and you can do anything you set your mind too!
Love the matching technique. Actually enjoyed the Juice groove cut too.
Beautiful 🤩
That is so sick! Well done! I loved the idea of where to place the juice groove!
Awesome! What extraordinary beauty this board is! 👍

I am Definitely a fan of Freud blades, I wish I had a 3hp saw though, one day!!
Beautiful. Nice powerful saw.
Gorgeous piece of work!! How many teethe was in your saw blade?
Really nice design! Beautiful! The juice groove location "framed" the board nicely. Liked, shared, and sub'd. Thanks

You have to be one with the endgrain, lol.
No You really don't know exactly what it's going to look like in the end, I call it "planned guesswork".
Sweet outcome!!!! Just found your channel and subscribed, can´t wait for the next videos, in the meantime i´ll binge the previous ones. take care!
Thanks for the sub and support! I hope you enjoy the videos, more on the horizon!
great work;-)wow;-)
Thanks for the visit
I would like to know how you made your Router Sled. That's the best DIY sled I've seen. I can probably figure it out, but do you have a video on that?
I've had a few requests on a DIY Router sled, so I am thinking it may be in an upcoming video.
@@thewoodplank4376 please let me know when it's uploaded.
How thick are your lumber boards? Any recommendations where to source the lumber from? Locally or online?
I primarily use 4/4, 5/4, and 8/4 lumber to start with. I use a local Hardwood supplier but have also found Craigslist, and Facebook marketplace as good resources. I personally like to hand pick my boards which is why I've never shopped online but that may be a good option as well.
Looking at getting into board building myself I’ve seen tons of really fancy patterns and designs which are great
But I think I prefer your method of letting the grain make the pattern it’s really zen 👌
Gotta let the wood/grain speak to you 🙌
Beautiful art! Just curious, what do you charge for a board like that?
Thanks! Walnut has increased a lot in price by me but this one was around $300
Was there really anywhere else to put the juice groove Jacob ? Fantastic board mate (y)
If it was a snake it would've bit me.
Looks Awesome….but isn’t zebra wood is toxic? Maybe just the saw dust?
Exactly, the sawdust is the culprit. You want to wear a mask anyway because it also has a terrible smell, kind of like rotten parmesan cheese.
Who makes your branding iron?
Beautiful work!❤️
What are you using for a finish?
Thanks! I use a food grade mineral oil followed up with my board conditioner.
I assume your planks are 0.75" thick. How wide did you cut them?
I usually start with 4/4 material and cut them into 2 inch strips, I like a thicker board.
I want to build one exactly like this, but I don't know where to get zebrawood.
It's not an easy one to get ahold of, where do you live?
@@thewoodplank4376 Ontario Canada
Noice
Just curious, how much would that sell for?
I believe this one sold right around $350
Absolutely stunning board. Well done mate.
Just a question, how much value do you think the "music" adds to your video?
Speaking only for myself, I'd rather watch channels that don't have any inane "music" spoiling the experience.

🙌 I appreciate it!!
Router bit for handles?
I believe the link is in the description but I use a Whiteside 1/2 inch box core bit
I didn’t see it the description but thanks! I like this handle better than the cove I use. Awesome work!
Titebond 2 is not for food contact.
Can you make a video on how to actually do the technical stuff. Like how to setup the router and jig you made how/what you’re finishing it with?
This is absolutely gorgeous btw
