I'm having Wheel Horse 101 Bourbon as I'm watching this..... Now I've had the Rye, but this is really really good.... and is a bit cheaper than the Rye.

I love Wild Turkey 101 a bunch. But the 101 Wheel Horse which I am drinking neat now. I bought it today and really really like to see Missouri putting this out... Either one is great. But to tell the truth I may have to get a back up bottle...

Well I did get Wheel Horse 101 Proof bourbon.... to tell the truth, though I am a RYE fan, I really like Wheel Horse Bourbon..... So it is either or... I might say the Rye for Old Fashions or High Ball...

Appreciate you guys staying true to the real world perspective and price, but your tastes and reviews from the experience perspective are spot on. Josh, really, you and Erin are among the best. Look, I am just some old guy, but watching you and then my buying correlates, so keep it up. Appreciate your work 👊

I've been singing Wheel Horses praises for over a year now. I adore their Rye as well. Easily in my top 5 ryes

I'm wondering if you would have started with the WT if it would have changed the other way. That's the thing with blinds tomorrow you may choose differently. Again I've had blinds that ended differently with just a few weeks in between tastings.

We take a solid break, clear palates, and start the other way to ensure as much accuracy as possible. These are so close it’s basically a wash TBH. Both solid valor for the money. Cheers and thanks for watching!

Was earnestly waiting to hear the price for Wheel Horse in your market. These are very close for the experience for me but in my market (AL) Wheel Horse is $40.000 for the Bourbon and Rye, so I have stuck with Wild Turkey. But if it was $30.00 in my market I would have added it to my shelves. I would be curious to hear your thoughts about how Wheel Horse stacks up against Green River.- Great review! Thanks again.

I've had the Wheel Horse rye, and I liked it, but haven't had their bourbon yet. Wheel Horse is definitely in the Colorado market, pretty easy to find. Didn't know they were from Green River. Cheers!

Went to a tasting event at a local store with the distributor (maybe also owner?) of the Wheel Horse brand as well as Copper & Cask brand. Both were excellent and he did state that they contract distill them at Green River. I ended up buying a barrel strength single barrel store pick of each. The Wheel Horse has a 4yr age statement on the label and is 118 proof. But I also tried all their normal shelf items and remember liking them very much.

Seems like most of the stuff Green River is putting out is crazy good value for the money (and it’s hard not to love that)!

I’ve been curious about Wheel Horse, just appeared in my market within the past 6-8months maybe.
WT101 used to be my go to, but I swear they switched up their blend. The new ones come across sweeter and oakier. I love the spice the old ones bring though. So I haven’t been turning to WT101 as often.

The flavor drift is real and we agree-the newer Turkey releases are missing that cinnamon spice that we love so much.

Unfortunately for me in Montreal Wheel Horse is not locally available. I have to order it from Alberta across the country and pay shipping. It is also $76,00 canadian. As for Wild Turkey it is available here and is now at $41.25 can. The math is simple, again unfortunately because I actually like Wheel Horse. Good video. Thanks guys.😊

So Wheelhorse is made at Green River Distillery in Owensboro, KY, but it's not a Green River whiskey? Does Wheelhorse rent barrels and rick house space from GR? And if there's that close connection of water, barrel handling (and whiskey philosophy?), is Wheelhorse solidly within the Green River flavor profile? And now one from left field: Do you get any taste similarities between Green River and Heaven Hill's products? Green River keeps coming up in conversations and reviews, and I think we've got it here in this part of Maryland. Synchronicity. Sounds like a shopping plan is coming together.

WT101 is thin... imo, you both need to take a good break from alcohol, like a month. if you haven't done it before, you both would be SCHOCKED how much sensitivity you will get back on your palates.

    • @stuffandwhiskey
      @stuffandwhiskey  Год назад

We don’t drink a lot, actually. Palates were fresh for this video. Just the way 101 came across this day.

@@stuffandwhiskey I know the youtube algorithm will hate it but I'll still suggest taking a month off just to see how much one's palate has been affected by regular drinking. I can't promise that it will be educational to everyone since palates aren't universal, but it was certainly educational for me; low proof whisky just hit me a lot harder. If yall only drink on the weekends, there might not be much affect; but I'll just say I have my suspicions.
in any case, love the content. love your format and I always tune in.

Flavor drift over time is real. This was a newer bottling and it lost some of the value magic of the older bottling to us.
