  • Macrame baskets were the very popular way to keep macrame in houses in 60-70s, later it was substituted with modern storage, but with the revival of macrame , these baskets are the must have.
    Material required:
    *180 inches jute cord, 3mm - 8 cords
    *45 inches jute cord - 40 cords
    *40 inches jute cord - 32 cords
    *Metal rings :
    2 rings of 9 mm
    -1 ring of 6 mm
    2 ring of 12 mm
160 + 200 inches of jute for metal ring wrapping.
    Method:
*Make a hanger by gather knot, after folding the 8 cords in half.
*Make a loop and secure it by gathering knot.
*Divide 8 cords into 4 groups having 4 cords in each.
Make 20 spiral knots and make a switch square knot.
*Add a bead and make a 20 spiral knots
*Add bead and make picot square knot, add a bead again.
*Do this for all 4 sections.
Take a 9 Inch ring and by DHH attach with four rows.
*Wrap the metal ring by jute cord.
*Add 8 cords of 40 inches by reverse larks head knot, add 8 cords on all 4 sections of ring.
*Make square knot and then alternative square knot, total rows done are 5.
*Add 6 mm ring and attach by DHH.
*Finish basket by gathering knot, and trim.
*By using 4 long cords continue the decorative pattern done above.
*Add 12 mm ring by DHH.
*Wrap ring by 50 inch of cord for each section.
*Add 10 cords of 45 inches on each section by reverse larks head knot.
*Make square knot and then alternative square knot.
*Do five rows, and make a gathering knot, trim and finish.

Amazing work as always!!❤ If you're using 3mm cord 100% cotton, 1,60m is enough. I used 1,80m and it's still too long/too much wasted cord/braided ends too long. Or maybe 2m is enough to make a two tear holder?!🤓 anyhoo love your channel !

This is so wonderful. Thank you so much! I am a beginner. Can you tell me the total of jute cord I need to get please as I can't quite work out from your list above. Is it a total of 4880 inches? That's about 130 metres and all are 3mm thick? Also, the rings you have as measured in mm .. do you mean inches? Or is this mm measurement referring to thickness of the rings? Thanks

    • @TheCraftybird01
      @TheCraftybird01  4 года назад +3

Thank you so much for positive feedback and for asking questions.
You need metal rings and the measurements are from one end to another in inches.
And if you have 4800 inches of jute cord in total , you are good to go.
      180*8=1440
      32*40 =1280
      40*45 = 1800
Total 4520 inches of jute rope.
And yes jute thickness is 3mm.
If you still have confusion please ask.

How thick is the macrame cord that you use? Also, do you use nylon cord so that basket can withstand any wetness from fruit and vegetables?

The jute cord I used is 3mm. You can use nylon or polyester but keep the cord 3mm

Grazie
