Something I never thought about before in choosing fingerings, “an extended position brings all sorts of other issues because it makes it more difficult to connect your vibrato. It also makes it a little more difficult to shift because if you are shifting to a non-extended position you have to fundamentally change the shape of the hand.” 19:20

What is so awesome about Zlatomir Fung is that he has really thought out how to surmount technical difficulties while being an incredibly musical cellist!

Beste Zlatomir, de voorbeelden die jij geeft zijn vaak technisch moeilijke stukken. Ik ga er van uit dat de cellisten die op dit niveau spelen dit allemaal al weten.

He said 70% of his practice sessions are ineffective! How can that possibly be true? But if it is, it gives all of us hope…

It is! There’s a class at NEC taught by Laurence Lesser was talking about how to listen audio recording and guess their fingerings and bowings. It’s not uncommon.
