- John Joseph 'Shark' Hanlon is one of the most charismatic trainers in the jumps racing game and the successful handler is enjoying one of his most notable years to date thanks to the success of Hewick, the £800 buy who has proved a real rags to riches story. After landing the American Grand National at Far Hills recently, the Cheltenham Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival is now very much the plan!
Shark joins us in the Luck On Sunday studio to explain more after the humble origins of Hewick, how he has campaigned thise remarkable racehorse and whar the trainer looks for in a potential equine star - as well as future plans and perhaos now being able to buy horses at the higher price bracket of his competitors.
After a spate of high-profile non-runners yesterday - most notably the intended return of Constitution Hill in the Coral Ascot Hurdle - the trainer also talks about the trainer's mindset when it comes to ground conditions for their horses.
