I am also very glad to hear you say that you are careful about the images of yourself you "put out there," that they remain "Presidential." I was thinking, I hope you don't sell out and become some pop culture icon.Because you could do anything at this point. I know you won't do that because you are too intelligent and sure of yourself, but glad to hear you want to put forth an elegant, powerful, and poised image and stick to who you truly are. If you take away the emotional context her poetry is actually very amateur, what are you 2 on about? Bad or amateur poetry is objective not subjective, her poetry has far more in common with Dr Seuss than with the great poets of history and today
Gracefulness in her voice, speech and style. Amanda poetry and speech is taking me back to the power in Art and Poetry. Words can change people, can change the world. Amanda voice and pathos is as shinning as a Queen that's for her people! God has many examples of poetry in the bible, "He spoke and it stood fast". I think it's great to give a young amateur poet a chance. She has a ton of potential if she keeps writing and reading and observing and reporting. She wears her natural hair also. She's beautiful both ways.
It is not a weave. They are braids. Big difference. Many people wear “fake” hair even if you don’t notice. It is everywhere. Women may add extra pieces to natural hair to make it more full, or longer, etc. Or add a bun or ponytail to give the appearance of them having much more hair than is truly theirs. Whatever the style, it is their personal choice and how they want to present themselves.

She is way over-rated. Any student of acting, and any woman who hosts a talk show, news show, gives the weather or gives CNN or Fox news or commentary, could read a poem just as effectively. Any theatre actress, theatre student or woman who's used to speaking to large groups can read a poem. Many school teachers as well. Don't ya'll think it's MUCH MORE than a coincidence that Amanda Gorman is YOUNG and PRETTY?
Come ON, people, if she were middle aged or fat or homely, she would NOT have been selected to read a poem at the inauguration or SB, and you stinking know it. I also have to believe that is she were WHITE, she would NOT have been selected. But these days, young, pretty, and especially black -- gets you lots of privilege.
