With Everyone in My Family has Killed Someone, the author’s voice is very Australian. I wonder if that is what puts you off his writing. The cadence, the wording, the attitude was very Aussie. I would describe it like an Australian version of The Thursday Murder Club, which is so quintessentially English. I can see why it didn’t gel with you, but as an Australian it was great.
I hope your good reading streak continues 🙏 Check and mate was great. I gave it 4 stars. I think if it was going to be a trilogy or duology, I would have probably given it 5 stars. As i think it was a great first book , after reading it, I just wanted to know what happened next and follow their journey. But sadly, we will never know. Its the same for a wizards guide to baking. It made me want to become a bread wizard 😅
As a woman who doesn't read much YA, I read a YA titled Confessions of an Alleged Good Girl recently that I loved! So, if you haven't read that yet, I strongly recommend.
I loved Lonely Castle in the mirror so much! I also think I read it at the right time, it really helped through an anxious phase and made me feel so much better about that! I also really loved how supportive the adults in the book were, it was very refreshing to see older figures actually being helpful and supportive instead of having misunderstanding parents and teachers 🥺 with that being said, your opinion is completely valid, there was a lot of “fluff” in the middle where not much was happening but I still had a great time
On repeating writers- Authors lile Stephen king have some many book, so yeah why not more read more of his books if they working for you? We don't need to be discovering authors all the time, sticking with our favourites is ok.
I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on Everyone on This Train is a Suspect if you decide to pick it up! The first was a 4 for me & then that one was a 3.5 😅
I am a person who can’t cry at movies, tv shows, or books… BUT… A List of Cages by Robin Roe tugged at my heart strings. It IS young adult BUT it has adult themes. There are trigger warnings for the book so please check those. Another book that is really good but not a tear jerker is More Than This by Patrick Ness. It isn’t a book to make you cry but it’s a book to make you question life and why you read it in the first place, but in a good way. Side note… What was the name of the switch game?
Was screaming in frustration with Everyone in my Family has killed Someone. The mystery could have been so good, but the way they cut away from the big emotional moments to indulge in meta commentary. Jail!
I don’t understand why you believe that it is a problem to utilize audiobooks? Can you please explain why this is a problem in your reading in future videos?
Audiobooks are not a problem and I'm really disappointed that you continue to say things like that. Even if you only listened to audibooks, youd still be a reader. Its incredibly misleading and judgmental to state that audiobooks are a problem and that you should be reading more physically. Any method and amount of reading is fantastic. If you personally want to read more phsycial books, you should state that as a personal thing not a general statement. People look up to you and model their reading after you and saying things that imply audobooks arent real books hurts people, especially those that can't read in any other method for any reason
Nooo I’m so sorry you’re misunderstanding me! I completely agree with everything you’ve said RE audiobooks! I’m more talking about how having an audiobook for every physical book I read isn’t financially sustainable🫣 most of the ones I read this month were from BorrowBox/Everand so I didn’t pay for them, but audiobooks aren’t always available on there! I’m a massive proponent of audiobooks being a great way to read, I just know it’s not monetarily sustainable to have one for every physical book I read
I have many friends who hate audioboooks and thats fine, audiobooks are not for everyone. I picked them just two years back because they give me freedom to continue reading when I have no real time to do so.
The first 500 people to use my link will get a 1-month free trial of Skillshare! skl.sh/megwithbooks03241
Audible has awards. You could do a reaction video to those
I loved Check and Mate too! Definitely my favorite Ali Hazelwood book and I tend to prefer spicier romance, usually.

Seeing my name at the end on the Patreon list for the first time made me so happy OMG 🥺
I read Anne of Green Gables this month and SOBBED
And I never cry for media either !
I’d recommend Mr Loverman by Bernadine Everisto
Betty by Tiffany McDaniel is a beautiful sobfest.....
'They're actually quite old. She's 18, he's 20." Meanwhile I'm over here like a mummified corpse at 36. 😅
I know right I’m 36 too, and it’s like so whoa she’s only 24.
Noooo I meant they’re old to be protagonists in a YA book lol
Haha I’m 33 😅 not quite mummified yet
@@megwithbooks I mean, I knew what you meant but I couldn't miss the opportunity to be mummified hahaha
Oh my god I sobbed at The Iron Claw 😭😭!!!
I hope your good reading streak continues 🙏

So glad you had a great reading month 🎉
Best wishes for your reading choices for March. I hope what you choose brings you joy.

Even Stephen King himself said he doesnt want to keep winning he said they should let someone else win
So happy you had an amazing reading month! 🏆

Have you read Clytemnestra? Def made me cry, it’s so good
I've got this on my tbr and this makes me even more excited about it 😂
I feel so seen! Felt the same about Everyone in My Family Killed Someone. Decided to try out the audio for the sequel and it was somehow worse 😅
Yeah that narrator was not a good match for the material I don't think :/
I loved Holly! ❤
I would recommend picking up Shark Heart if you want to cry🦈
I’m once again recommending Bad Men by Julie Mae Cohen. It deserves more hype and it’s right up your street 🤓

I feel you about ya hahahaha I want to read it still but do I?? Some of my fav books are ya but then there are so many misses for me
Oh you wanna cry? Get chain gang all-stars on your TBR asap and bring on the floods 😭
You just had to get the bad out of the way in January. You could only go up from there!
Girrrrrrrl you need to read Misery
A book that may make you cry :) The Heart-Break Bakery by A.R. Capetta :)
Please read the naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I haven’t read it, but I’m seeing a lot of people comment on how devastating The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros is…if you’re looking for a tear-jerker.
Looks like you gave your 3 star curse to Kayla last month 🙈 lol
22:50 the other booktuber who loves everything Ali Azelwood, Lexi, jusy reviewed Bride. You should give it a go!
I was SURE Meg already read it. It's gonna drive me crazy who did I mix it up with 😅
I do audiobooks while playing my switch so much. It’s the best 🥹
LOVE FROM INDIA, YOUR VOICE IS VERY UNIQUE ❤❤❤❤

I'm early, wow.

I responded to another comment about this earlier if you want to scroll back and take a look💗

@@megwithbooks I’d rather have physical books over audiobooks too. Don’t fret, many feel this way. ❤❤

I think you forgot, Meg keeps recommending us to read 'Lady Hardcastle series' on audiobook because the narration is awesome.
