Loving this videos as looking to get a Z4 myself. With regards to the rain etc, I cannot recommend getting a pop up gazebo enough. You can get them cheap, they compact right down and infinitely useful.
Yep I agree would be useful! A friend of mine has one he's happy to donate to the cause so I may well have one imminently! That being said, I'm about to start a pretty epic garage build. Watch this space!
Thank you! I know, all this video editing stuff is still pretty new to me but rest assured I'm keeping a closer eye on the audio levels going forwards. Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you! Not gonna lie it's pretty fun to drive and work on. I've been working on the engine this week. Just editing it all now but next vid coming real soon. Then watch out for a big brake and suspension upgrade 😜
The airbag light is on due to the fact that an airbag has been disconnected while the battery was still attached. This is not a big deal - the error code just needs to be deleted. Its a good idea to get an obd2 to usb cable and Inpa Software. Its easy to find on the internet and a big help for anyone wrenching on bmws of that era.
Looks good, I changed all the arches on mine. That bolt onm the rears is a massive pain to undo. Fronts are really easy to change. You got a bargain on this for £500. The 3.0 manuals are the most saught after Z4s, I've got the same and think it's still a really nice looking car and great fun to drive.
Yep, so much fun to drive, especially when the sun is out. My arches aren't perfect on the front but I'm in two minds whether to source better replacements or just repair what I have - they aren't that bad really 🤔
@@n8green I luckily got a full set off ebay in the right color with no rust for £450 I think so made sense to switch them rather than messing round trying to remove rust, fill then paint. Made a few quid selling the old ones on ebay so reckon £350 got me nice rust free wings all round :)
I think about 8-10. A few along the door shut, one or two behind the side skirt, a couple behind the rear bumper, one or two around the tail light and that one that nearly made me lose the will to live.
I didn't take the various people seriously who told me it was a nightmare, but I can confirm, it's a real pain in the arse. If I was to do it again I'd probably buy the best low profile bit I could find. I've seen people do it with a standard T30 bit and a 6mm spanner on it though. Good luck!
Airbag lights on these are a pain in the arse. If you clear it and it comes back it can be the connector, could be cables kinked.. Basically if the satellite module behind the carpet between the chair and the door detects a slightly off resistance anywhere in the loom or the airbag itself youll get a dash light that has to be reset using a OBD tool. Cheapest way i've found is BMW Scanner 1.4, 20 quid cable and software on ebay and you can do all the coding / error reading. Much cheaper than getting a launch device or equiv. Replacing airbag also requires coding in the VIN into the replacement module. Same with anything else in the airbag system When you changed the door.. be wary of water ingress through the window seal that runs down the inside and is supposed to drain out the bottom to the outside of the car. This can leak down and seep into the cockpit and damage the airbag satellite module which will cost you 60 quid. Worth replacing the cheap foam you cut out with something. I also coated the inside of the door around std rust areas with Waxoyl Top content though man, decent editing too keep at it! I hope you still have the Zed, i've seen these with standalone ECU's turbo'ed to 450 bhp before needing to upgrade the fuel system (worth installing LSD tho). would be good to hear what you're going for in your project
Thanks mate, you sound like you've already shit a few bricks with these cars 😆 I cleared the airbag light with INPA and touch wood, it hasn't come back. So far so good with the door too, although I need to figure out how to calibrate the window mechanism I think as it no longer rolls all the way to the top with a full pull on the switch. Not a big problem though. I've done quite a lot since this vid. Full suspension overhaul, coilovers, all bushes replaced, rear subframe stripped etc. Shorter ratio diff installed and a few other things. I've got about 300gb of footage to edit but it takes me an age. Plenty more content incoming though. Now I've fixed all the foundational mechanical bits I'm starting to focus on upgrades. Stay tuned and thanks for the feedback 👊
Yep, did it up finger tight then nipped it up with that. You could just use any T30 held by some molegrips or something like that tbh - I wasn't worried about getting loads of torque on it
Going to enjoy watching the restoration 👍- that locking wheel nut had me in bits 😂😂
You and me both!

If not the horribly loud music you put in, that was a great video mate.

Thank you :) You're absolutely correct, I've since been able clear the light using inpa

Hey Nate, Is there anything to look out for when removing bootlid? ✌️
No it was pretty straightforward to be honest - helpful to have a second pair of hands to hold it if possible, but not essential. Good luck 👍
@@n8greenCheers Nate, I’m about to tackle it this weekend…. Oh, apparently…mind your language!!? 🤣🤣..some people aye! ✌️
@@n8green Hey Mate, How many bolts has the rear wing got off top of your head?

I need to get this panel off and I'm struggling aha

Hi mate I can feel two bolts for the rear quarter which one do I need to remove? The one closer to the petrol cap or?
Yeah, it's the one closest to the panel you're removing (so closest to the outside of the car)

Keep holding the roof lowering button down and the windows should come back up again too.
Awesome! I'll check that out, thank you :)
@@n8green I like these videos, good, practical and clear. I have a slightly older Z4 with the M54 3 litre engine too.

Yep that bolt looked a nightmare! Bet you cant wait to have a garage and a lift to work in!
Absolutely! It's coming...
Your under carriage looks like you took your car off roading. 😂😂
Hi Nate what colour is ur car . N
