With all the sideplots it feels like they're throwing us from wall to wall. I love this season SO MUCH but the sideplots are frustrating every time I rewatch (sometimes I don't mind it lol).
I agree, the amount of storylines is overwhelming. I really enjoy the Mondrich's and was so happy they got left that title/fortune/estate but we dedicated screen time to him agonizing about his failing club for the better part of a season only for him to just say "okay, i'll sell it, lets throw a ball" in episode 6. The same thing with Benedict. I like the character but I feel like he is getting even more time in these past 6 episodes with even less plot than normal. Pen is such a rich character- she's got her Lady Whistledown identity, friendship struggles with Eloise, complicated relationship with her mom, complicated relationship with her sisters, personal self-esteem journey, and of course, the romance with Colin. If we had delayed the Francesca romance, reduced Benedict's presence (maybe even send him away for one of the parts), made the Mondrich's more like beloved character updates like Kate and Anthony rather than a storyline, and delayed the appearance of Lady Danbury's brother thus cutting out the Lady Bridgerton budding romance and family drama, I think that would allow Pen's journey/Polin to breathe. Even Cresida, who's exploration in these 6 episodes is unique and complicated and sad, is getting compressed when she's arguably more important to Pen's plot than most of the characters matching her amount of screen time. I really really love this season but the balance was definitely off.
You described exactly how I felt after watching this season. Both Luke and Nicola have so much chemistry but their characters were not given enough story time. I felt cheated and feel the wonderful actors were cheated of their season.😢☹️

Yep I fast forward most if not all the side stories out get to Pen and Colin parts only because it’s supposed to be Polin season. So it’s much shorter but have happily on repeat watched Polin chemistry jump out of my screens over and over and over and over. I expect more Polin in S4 for Benedict’s season as a result!!

Something just occurred to me...after Penelope and Colin make love, how does she get redressed without anybody finding out what they did? Because doesn't she have ladies who dress her every day? Presumably Colin would help but is he as skilled at putting women's clothes back on as he is at taking them off??
Considering how many women he had been with, he knows how to redress women. This is why I don't get the number of commenters crying about how they ruined his character because they took away him being an "innocent gentleman". If you read his book, he most definitely was not innocent. 😂😂
Penelope and Colin were and will be the ONLY characters who we’ve known for this long and who have so much show and watcher history, so they had SO MUCH potential for their season!! To be the one we really could develope and understand and cry finally happy tears for! But the show runners absolutely ruined their season. Idk wtf is going on but they ruined 2 seasons worth of build up, with all the potential! It should’ve been the most romantic and beautiful season yet! One that everyone rooted for! And yet, it fell flat. They were side characters to their own season, and I am so incredibly sad. I try to rewatch and analyze to justify it but, it just is disappointing.
I rarely comment on RUclips these days but you force it out of me!!! The moment Lady Danbury’s African accent came out was breathtaking and I love the fact that you felt it too. It was so powerful I actually felt like crying. It made me homesick for some reason.
