I use a silicon brush meant for infants teeth to scrub my RES. He actually loves it and keeps rubbing himself on the brush while I bathe him 😀

My common map turtle use to have the cleanest shell and was easy to clean. Now it's filthy he has algae patches covering his shell that will NOT come off with brushing the shell. It's like dark green brown algae hairs. I've noticed he's shedding scutes a little and it seems like the scutes that want to come off are the ones covered in the algae that's stuck. I gently pulled on the algae and an entire acute came off real gentle. I don't want to pull anymore off but how can I removed these thick hairy patches of algae? Hea super happy eats and bask very well. Seems happy but I haven't seen any videos helping with thick algae patches stuck to scutes.
Apple cider vinegar scrub will help slowly slowly! Algae thing & white layer happens due to the sunlight & chalky water

Yuvraj Godakiya Hi Yuvraj, Please don’t use regular vinegar as they are more acidic than Apple cider vinegar and regular vinegar doesn’t have Vit C, calcium & phosphorus 😊

Hi Yuvraj, No dont apply anything after apple cider vinegar scrub just let them get dry for 15-20 and then wash them with water & put back in aquarium.

I have been using this method for years and we use apple cider instead of regular vinegar because regular is more acidic than apple cider and apple cider ingredients are Vitamin C, calcium & Phosphorus these all are really helpful for turtles.
