Thank you for being so normal and relatable. I am trying to GMST under very challenging circumstances and being a single mum with no surviving family around. I love watching declutter videos but the women all look so perfectly made up, their houses are on trend and immaculate and I end up feeling deflated. They make me feel it is unachievable to be that standard. All I want is a tidy organised home and time to put a brush through my hair each day. I cant do perfect but organised will do.
This You Tube channel is better than most, I think. I’m like you, I just want a reasonably clean and organized home that I don’t have to spend every free minute on. I’m increasingly skeptical of these You Tubers who are constantly doing “ major declutters”, yet their (huge) homes are always looking perfect. I find that the 5, 10, or 15 minute power- clean or power declutter has helped more than anything.
Im right there with you. Im a acting single mom of 4 and work full time with no family around. My hubby is stuck in another country right now and I just can't keep up. I feel like im drowning with stuff. I just want simple and organized
I feel the same. Plus I’ll never be all vegan recycle queen either and all that. I already know it. Lol. Hang in there. I was a single mom the whole time also with toxic fam who may as well have not been there and I can relate to all those feelings of always trying to keep up and being the only one having to be responsible for everything and decide everything big and small all the time. We can get and feel overwhelmed Imo Bcuz it IS very simply a whole lot to have to try and take on.
I think if it's buy one get one free, you should get the second one and donate it. Someone will get a brand new whatever and you get a dopamine hit from doing something good.
But then you have to make time for a trip to the thrift shop to donate that second item--or accumulate a bunch of second items until you have enough to make a trip to the thrift shop worthwhile.... You're not getting each item for half price, so it won't cost you anything to just leave the "free" one in the store.
I fell into the Lula roe MLM gimmick. Spent so much money over the past few years all that stuff it makes me sick. Just for some of it to go bad after a few hours and then some of it I realized I looked like a frumpy old lady in them lol a few of them I got I enjoyed and I still have about 10% of all the ones I bought. I really have stopped buying things because I find I regret because I have about three shirts are reach for 99.9% of the time. And a couple pairs of jeans.
Oh my goodness I am so guilty of so many or these, and still am for some. I'm hitting 50 soon and still learning as I go. My biggest obstacle is my "it'll do" category - not for others but for myself. But since meeting my husband, he has taught me to honour myself and buy purposefully, and it is okay to say I deserve what makes me feel good. Just wish I'd met him sooner. Many blessings x P.S. Still rocking the hippie/goth vibe from my teens proudly x
THANK YOU LAURA 🙏🏻🙏🏻 A friendly reminder that “it’ll do” rarely leads to long term love, coupled with the footage of organisers, was just what I needed! Like, literally. I’ve been looking for a new one for months and haven’t found anything I like at the right price point. Now the old one is falling apart and I was SO close to just buying something that would do when I KNOW what I really want is a brown A5 Filofax Malden. A bit pricier, yes, but I know I’ll love and use it for years to come. You reminded me that if I buy something else just to save some money I’ll just wish it was a FF Malden anyway and feel unhappy with it, which is a sad thing for something that you use and look at several times every single day. I’m getting my dream organiser! ☀️
This has to be the most relatable video i watched from you. Fantastic info. Ah. The Stationary. !! One of my big downfalls. I have improved over last 2 years. Paid off credit cards and started to read The Barefoot Investor. An Australian guy . And follow his advice for saving and not spending on what we don’t need. My kids still worry i have to much clutter. But i need to work out how to store and have space for painting and sewing.
My mum, auntie, little sister, uncle, dad and both grannies all have birthday's in November! So I buy all gifts if I see fitting things throughout the year if not I'll do the birthday/Christmas shop in September, October; present shopping for both birthday's and Christmas complete and no need to leave the house or to brave the crowds :)
A Soda Stream. Had to be red to match my kettle(?) so I paid £80 for it on Amazon. Hardly any fizz, syrup flavouring full of who knows what chemicals. I gave it to my charity shop man and hope someone thinks its worth a few bob.
You're so right! I used to go shopping with husband and he said you don't have to buy eveything!-- Just enjoy them as they stand - you don't have to bring everything home LOL He was right, just like you. This was a great video!!! I so enjoy watching you and btw LOVE your t shirt -- I too not a morning person LOL. hAVE A GREAT DAY!
Oh my goodness I feel exactly like this. I got a cricut explore air 2 and all the things and can't find the time to use it now I feel I got sucked into a fantasy self situation. I have 4 kids and just don't have time to play around with the machine to learn how to use it. I feel stuck! 😪 Side note. I work so hard. So I work at a michaels and I love it. I do see alot of cute or nice things so if I push it in a cart around the store most of my work shift and by the end of my shift I'm too tired to stand in line I put it back. I end up not getting it. So far it's working. Also I did not get my cricut explore from my job. I got it at a cheaper price from another store because I don't pay full price for anything.
Thank you for your vision and advise. I had a proud moment when my husband came home from a book store and said he liked an insulator coffee mug with a cute saying. But he heard my voice in his head saying “do you need another mug” (he has a lot). He didn’t get it.
Ha ha. The cool gadget stuff. Lol. Used to do that with cleaning tools a lot. It also might be related to fantasy stuff too. Like ok if I buy this funky thing, then I know it’ll make me want to clean the house with it more and the house will practically clean itself. But right? Even if I really want the world to be at this amazing George Jetson level, I know it’s just not quite there yet. Tho not sure if that’s just escapism really. Def I’d want a robot cook/maid and nutritional food tabs that pop up into a meal in 5 seconds (ha ha) but that’s just not realistic. 😅😅
@@HowToGYST Lol. IKR. Forgot about the shower thingy they had also. 😅😅 Just step in and it scrubs you up. I prob need a good reality slap by now anyways. Lol.
Oh, thank you so much for your point on "it'll do" items which in particular you mentioned come up for you at Christmas because of all the birthdays (which ARE more personal days really), that come pretty much right before Christmas! For me too! Please check out the 5 Languages of Love. Gifts come in last place for me, but/and we're ALL different. Different things are more important to different people. My 8 year old took the test and both Quality Time and Acts of Love came before Gifts as a way to say I love you! Gifts came in at 17% for her. A truly thoughtful gift that shows you listen to and know someone is a good gift, but that's hard. My mother-in-law washed my dishes when she was here last! I mean.. I have no words that can adequately give my feelings of appreciation and love for this activity! She is simply The Best! She did also buy my 4 year old her birthday cake and a #4 candle for it. That also was really a spectacular gift!
I'm the same way with my phone. My current one is a 2 year old Samsung that I bought for myself after having my last one for just over five years. I just don't see the need to get a new phone every year when the one I have does all I need it to do. As far as the boho look, that's totally me! I've been rocking that look for several years and probably will for a lot more..lol
Love your channel and follow along with this declutter journey of mine. It is a slow process and one of the channels I follow for advise is yours, thanks much. It started with a capsule wardrobe but the other areas I struggle with Oh Dear....
No need for gym membership or fancy clothes just get a good pair of walking or running shoes and get outside and do it. Or do you like me I went on Facebook marketplace and got a. Used elliptical for $75. And I love it. And I have to do a commitment that’s why I bought it it’s a health reason for me. I have no choice I’ve got to move and do things so I bought it
Yes! Hubby bought a set of weights instead of expensive gym fees... On the flip-side a mate of mine lives in his van so his cheap gym membership gives him a daily workout and place to shower. It's all about knowing what's the wiser investment.
Hi !! thank you for your great content ! exactly what I needed to hear today ;) lot of gratitude and thank you for your shiny authentic way of being 😊✨💕🍀🌞🌈🌻
I went overboard this year on Halloween decorations probably because last year I didn't really decorate or buy anything and I just wanted to decorate this year. I don't regret what I bought because I haven't really done much shopping this year and we didn't go on vacation or really do much this summer. I am going to try and not go overboard for Christmas.
My husband has the expensive unlimited phone contract and I get his hand-down phones and given data etc. from his plan... It means we only need 1x £50 contract rather than 2 AND don't have to pay for wifi/a landline phone either.
I once bought a leather couch and he gave me the club chair for free deem the price.. club chair just a pain of my you know what!!! I still have it -- just a waste of space!!! just like you said beware when free! Nothing is free!
I would still take the buy one get one free, but I gift it or add it to charity bag so I figure someone gets the benefit - maybe I should just not take it?
