Well going back to the numbering scheme I think you technically added another variation in this video anyways. The reason Apple is considering the 2017 (iPad 5th generation) & 2018 (iPad 6th generation) because they consider that the iPad Air & iPad Air 2 replaced for that time the iPad and therefore like the iPad Pro & iPad Mini iPad Air isn’t iPad hence the reason it got another name attached to it just like Pro & Mini. It would be like saying that the newest MacBook is not a whole new generation since the last MacBook that the MacBook Air should be considered the successor to the MacBook. That’s just My thoughts on this
I was actually one of those who said that iPad was just a large iPod touch. It took awhile for me to understand the market of the iPad and how it has helped many artists, scientists, academics, children, and parents. Just like how I thought the iPod touch was a less important iPhone. Or that Touch ID isn’t secure. I was much more of an idiot back than.
The iPad 2017 is actually dubbed by Apple as iPad 5th Generation. The reason behind is the iPad Air and the iPad Air 2 are completely separated just like the iPad Pro and the iPad Mini. Basically the iPad line were discontinued until 2017 where Apple replaced the iPad Air line with the iPad 5th Generation.
Although I'm an Android/Windows guy, I respect the iPad's position as mainstreaming the tablet concept. While the iPhone's introduction did not change anything for me (was using a Treo for years when iPhone came out.), The iPad gave a near laptop screen at near phone convenience. I'd never be without a tablet, (although mine's a Sammy..) I don't haul a laptop around anymore.
@Iron Tough01 Only Note 7s explode. Trump is stockpiling those for a mass air drop on the Commie Nor Kors JUST IN CASE lil Kim fucks with Samsung. Just saying.
James Slick Great mental image there...B-52’s over Pyongyang, dropping loaded Samsungs en masse, as the Communist party runs to bunkers......Thanks for that...thanks.
I still have the first iPad when it first came out. I unboxed it in 2010 and I still have it, it still works and in good shape besides a couple of scratches.
I totally understand the sceptisism in the beginning. I did not really use my first tablet for about half a year for real. It was a gift and I did not know what to do with it. Now I don't want to miss one because it is so convenient.
The 6th iPad and Apple Pencil are so damn good and useful for students at a reasonable price. Me and a lot of my classmates bought those two before our postgraduate studies began.
Seriously at 3:30 is a Lord Of The Ring picture for New Zealand? LOL Great video very informative. Jobs was very upset when he first read the `nothing than a bigger iPod Touch` comments in the press.
My iPad 3 is still working fine. My brother has dropped it on concrete many times and it still hasn’t cracked. My mum is still shocked on how continues to work. It hasn’t ever had a case as well. It doesn’t receive software updates anymore so it is on 9.3.2 but that’s fine.
I wasn’t big into tech back when the first iPad came out, I couldn’t afford it so I never paid much attention. But I remember the iPad episode on Modern Family and thought it looked cool lol.
I'm watching this on my iPad 2 by far the best iPad till day. Looking forward to what the next iPad would look in design/ price before I decide if I should wait for a bit long or buy it by skipping the current iPad Pro 10.5 inch.
just to let you all know, the iPad's bezel serves a function.. a function that helps you hold your ipad instead of OH MAN HOW DO I HOLD THIS THING, NOW IS THE TIME TO THINK DIFFERENT?
Can we all agree how good the lifespan is of the ipads? I mean i have this air 2 six years now and it still gets supported and it works perfectly fine and my ipad 2 doesnt get any software updates anymore but still works fine!
I owned the 3rd gen ipad and now the ipad air 3. I always looked at it as an entertainment piece and taking notes. I could never see it as a laptop replacement.

It was the App Store and the creativity of the worldwide app developers that really “made” the iPad. Plus, Apple making the Swift language open source. If you have the wrong settings, it’ll crop off the edges or feed through blank labels. These aren’t issues with the machine though, just user error.
I remember getting the iPad Air 2. It's faster and has better Wifi connection than my iPhone. ( It's a 5. ) But I was stupid and overcharged it, so whenever I use it, I have to keep it plugged in the entire time. Just buy a new base iPad, it will be a better investment.
