Well put together vid, if anything I would suggest new stackers to stack at least 1oz of gold to every 300 - 500oz of silver - I store my metals externally and pay for ‘volume’ of space and well it can start to get expensive if space is taken up with to much silver, good problem to have but you will face this challenge in time 👍😀

A lifelong friend of mine since the 60s started buying silver coins in the 1990s. He bought a few corns every two weeks. He was buying them from a company that was advertising them on television for $29.99 plus shipping per coin.. so that’s $35 a coin.. their television commercials kept this hype going by saying that silver is going to go to $50 an ounce any minute now.. these coins were 1 ounce coins.. years later my friend got into financial trouble and had to sell many of his possessions. His motorcycle, his guitars, tools, etc.. and his coins.. he called the company that sold him most of the coins he had and asked them if they would buy them back. They recommended taking them to one of those outlets that buys grandma‘s old jewelry and coins and things like that.. so that’s what he did and that’s when he found out that those places do not give you anything near what you pay for the silver or gold. They pay you spot price at that moment for silver or gold. Spot price at that time was around $12 an ounce for silver. But he paid $35 an ounce for each coin.. he was in a tough spot so he accepted the $12 an ounce, that’s when he found out that they deduct 10% plus $.85 a coin transaction fee.. So that was $12 minus $1.20 per coin minus -$.85 per coin.. that comes out to $9.95 per coin after paying $35 per coin.. so let’s say there was a monetary collapse around the world which they like to tell you buying gold and silver is a safeguard against that happening.. OK so someday, dollars have no value but-you have gold coins that you paid $1800. each for.. Just how do you fill the tank of your car or buy a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk with a gold coin if your money is no good at the gas station or supermarket. What are they gonna give you change with? Monopoly money?
Precious metals will only be traded fairly when there is no other means of government accepted currency. Gold or silver purchased today will only become valuable in about 20+ years. I purchased a 1oz Kugerand back in ‘86 for roughly $450. It’s almost 5x its value. Buy metal for a hobby or fund. Treat them like expensive trading sports cards.
I started accidentally. I bid on a sealed box at an estate sale. Got it for $10. It had a couple of fairly valuable rookwood pieces of pottery, some other junk. But, at the very bottom was a 1988 us mint $25 gold piece in a presentation box. Been picking up stuff here and there when I find it. Have some 10 Oz bars, some 5 Oz rounds and a bunch of 1oz rounds. Hello, very nice video!! Im 29 year old man from Greece and im about to start collecting. I try my best to get imformation on how to start safely with precius metals. Here in Grecce there are a lot of shops buying gold, but not a lot of them sell. I think i have to search the local jewellery stores or the National Bank and compare the prices. I will be checking yr videos.
Great advice. I recommend buying US gold Buffalo bullion coins. They will be easy to sell when need to and if selling outside of the country you won’t be taxed in most countries since pure 24k gold. If selling American Gold Eagles out of the country, you will be taxed in many countries since not pure gold. International sale of silver is heavily taxed in Europe.
If you are stacking in new hampsire, i use port city jewelry in portsmouth nh, and gold rush in dover new hampshire, that being said haha ill make my way up to tims at some point
Newbie..... I totally was about to purchase and roll over my ira based off fear. Something told me I needed to educate myself first. I put a stop on all appointments and applications. Thanks I'll toon in again..
I'm new to stacking and I appreciate your 2 cents. This video provided me with some great info. TY. I bought Krugerrands and an ingot plus I am stacking 10 oz bars. Both were purchased because my LCS sold them very low to spot. Are coin medallion and bar cases worth storing them in?
Sounds like you're off to a great start Theresa! Unless it's a specially designed bar, I don't think plastic bar cases are worth it. Coin capsules on the other hand, I do find those worth it, especially for pure gold. Krugerrands are 90% and not as susceptible to dings and dents as pure gold. If you plan on moving your gold around a lot, looking at it, etc, I would get capsules, if not, a tube works just fine. Keeping your items looking nice will help with resell. Keep an eye out for plastic with PVC in it. PVC will damage silver. Thanks for watching and stopping by!
@@CampbellsCoins I didn't realize Krugerrands are only 90%. I guess I will put future purchases in Buffalos. The dealer did not explain I wasn't getting 100%. Is that why people pay higher premium for US coins?
@@theresamarie1089 Krugerrands have 1oz of gold in them, or whatever weight is listed on the coin, but the composition is 90% gold and 10% copper. Still purchasing 1oz of gold but copper is added to make the gold more resilient to wear and tear. American bullion has a higher premium because it's more popular. American Gold eagles are similar to Krugerrands. The 1oz sizes have 1oz gold pure gold in them with silver and copper mixed in. Composition is 91.5%. Gold Buffalos are pure gold with nothing added in. Hope this helps, it does get confusing.
Absolutely not foolish. I purchase fractional gold when the gold price rises suddenly, like it has most of this year. This way I'm still accumulating gold which taking that wait and see approach to gold's price.
The "experts" say 10% because they don't want to be sued if it's more and doesn't work out. I do whatever I'm comfortable with and it's much higher than 10%. I think this number should fluctuate. When all signs point to an economic crash, I would go heavy into bullion. When other sectors cool down, I would transfer some of those funds into the now unloved sector. And on and on it goes like a cycle. Don't remain static.
@@CampbellsCoins I'm really enjoying your channel. Good question and good answer. For just starting and wanting to build oz.s of silver do you think bars over silver eagles?
@@WookieLove1 Much appreciated! With premiums the way they are, definitely bars over eagles. If you're looking for coins, I would select either Maples or Britannias at this point, simply because of premiums over eagles. I would not buy eagles until premiums come down to where the Britannias are at currently. Bars will have lower premiums over all coins.
@@CampbellsCoins Thanks! Much appreciated. My local guy was charging 14 dollar premium for an englehard bar. I thought that was crazy. All other bars were 6. I just saw one online shop that had premiums for 3 for bars.
@@WookieLove1 yeah that's too much. Some bars command a high premium because of who mints them and how many were made, but it typically applies to older collectible bars. Personally, I think it's dumb but if people like collecting them, more power to them. Last I saw, bars were going for around $3 for your basic silver bars, as you mentioned.
Suggestion: maybe do a video on verifying your coins are real on a budget ie Pocket Pinger, Earth Magnet, Scale and maybe some Calipers. Also maybe include a sheet of visual oddities that may cause you to suspect something isn’t right about a coin.
I love Geiger, especially their silver. Their gold bars are great too but there was always a high premium attached to them. If you can get them for a great deal, I would go for it. One negative note on Geiger is the copper spots. Sucks to have such a nice looking bar in assay with copper spots.
hi thank you for the great info. my question is when you buy gold can they verify is pure? and what is involved in selling. like taxes to declare. thank you much
Im new to stacking. Not doing it to make any money from it I just want to collect gold and silver bars cause it's so cool! Just bought 2 1oz silver bars and dying to buy my first gold bar but 1oz is 2200 bucks! Long way away from that
Where is everyone buying your PMs? I just made my first purchase from JM Bullion. Thanks for the video. I've been studying up and finally made my first buy.
I find the comment about the Krugerrands puzzling. They sell well in my state and being a physically harder coin they hold up to stacking/handling better than Maple Leaves or Eagles.
Im from California and i like eating sushi from this restaurant but the price of sushi keeps on going up it was 2.50 a plate in 2018 and now its 3.60. Perhaps this will help me so I can continue to buy sushi in the future
Hello I'm a new stacker and I've just been buying silver. My question is should I stack up enough silver to go for one once of gold or would it be wise to get fractional gold like half once or smaller?
I recommend building a fractional base first: 1/10, 1/4, and/or 1/2 oz at a time to scratch that stacking itch. Good luck with your stacking! It all adds up quickly.
buying the safe hurts profit but i mean so would being robbed do people put the cost of the safe onto the silver / gold they own? i mean the cost of storing it vs what i sell it for should be something to consider. if it costs me 600$ to buy a safe and i got 10k of silver/ gold i mean it hurts the resale cuz the safe wont make me money arguably.
Libertads or the Pesos? I love the Libertads, beautiful coins. If Libertads, then I view them as a more collectible coin than a stacking coin because of the premiums. If the pesos, they are a good option for stackers in certain regions. These sell well in the southwest states but I have found Pesos to be fairly undesirable up north. These also have tax reporting requirements, which is unfortunate.
No matter what you get, buying gold and silver is always on the right foot. This question is regional and the price you got it at. I think my video I'm releasing tomorrow might help you. But ultimately, buy what makes you happy.
Thats Definitely understandable, with metals taking a bigger dip i plan i getting some american eagles. Probably silver or a fractional gold coin. Thanks for the info though.
That's tough. You could do some googling to see if there are any bad reviews. There are plenty of reputable online sellers I list on this channel, I wouldn't go off an ad.
Feel free to leave any questions you might have. If you have buying advice for beginners, let us know down below! Thanks for watching!

Good luck and thanks for watching!
Super guidance. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience.
When buying online make sure to buy less than $500 because UPS does not insure anything above that amount
New and wanting to get into stacking. Video helped alot
Congrats on starting your stacking journey! Let me know if you have any questions.
Put it in the laundry room, what robbers toss the laundry room, lol
There ya go!
This video was very informative. I think I'm doing it right. Is Platinum a good precious metal to buy. I have a few ounces?
Thanks! I believe it is, especially at it's current price point.
Thank you! Exceptional video.
You're very welcome!
Yeah, please don't roll over your IRA, at least not yet. Glad to help.
@@CampbellsCoins TY that clears it up for me. I appreciate your help.
Very Helpful Video. Thank you!
Would it be foolish to buy any fractional gold now, or should I wait a while?
Absolutely not foolish. I purchase fractional gold when the gold price rises suddenly, like it has most of this year. This way I'm still accumulating gold which taking that wait and see approach to gold's price.

New to collecting coins in general, but plan to stack a little along as I collect coins I enjoy.
You the man!!
😎👊 no, you are!
In your opinion, what percentage of one's net worth should be in precious metals and Bullion?
Last I saw, bars were going for around $3 for your basic silver bars, as you mentioned.
thank you very much!
Suggestion: maybe do a video on verifying your coins are real on a budget ie Pocket Pinger, Earth Magnet, Scale and maybe some Calipers. Also maybe include a sheet of visual oddities that may cause you to suspect something isn’t right about a coin.
What do you think of Geiger gold bars? Do you think there would be an issue selling them? I’ve found some pretty good deals on these recently.
I love Geiger, especially their silver. Their gold bars are great too but there was always a high premium attached to them. If you can get them for a great deal, I would go for it. One negative note on Geiger is the copper spots. Sucks to have such a nice looking bar in assay with copper spots.
Appreciate the information 👍
hi thank you for the great info. my question is when you buy gold can they verify is pure? and what is involved in selling. like taxes to declare. thank you much
Im new to stacking. Not doing it to make any money from it I just want to collect gold and silver bars cause it's so cool! Just bought 2 1oz silver bars and dying to buy my first gold bar but 1oz is 2200 bucks! Long way away from that
Congrats on starting your stacking journey!
Brand new stacker first month a 1/10g and 1oz s thank you for the videos
Thanks
Where is everyone buying your PMs? I just made my first purchase from JM Bullion. Thanks for the video. I've been studying up and finally made my first buy.
I find the comment about the Krugerrands puzzling. They sell well in my state and being a physically harder coin they hold up to stacking/handling better than Maple Leaves or Eagles.
Different region to region. Looking at the US overall, they don't do as well as those other coins.

Thanks for the advice. What is your opinion on the silver Krugerrand?
Just curious....has anyone ever been able to use some of your stack as collateral on a loan?
Full of good info!
Glad you liked it 😎👊
Very informative...thank you.
You are welcome!
New stacker here
My budget is around $400 - $600 a month
Hey that's awesome! Congratulations!
Awesome tips for the new stackers. Great video my friend.
Thanks triple P! I hope all is well!
Would be great if you take a little bit about coin capsule
The problem is in Sweden when we sell gold coins or any other gold or property , we pay tax on them too. What should I do?
Sell private party. We, in the US, pay a capital gains tax when selling precious metals but there is only a record when sold to specific sources.
Looking into stacking. Any advice is welcome.
What's your opinion on Mexican silver and gold coins? Do you believe these are a good option for new stackers?
Libertads or the Pesos? I love the Libertads, beautiful coins. If Libertads, then I view them as a more collectible coin than a stacking coin because of the premiums. If the pesos, they are a good option for stackers in certain regions. These sell well in the southwest states but I have found Pesos to be fairly undesirable up north. These also have tax reporting requirements, which is unfortunate.
@@CampbellsCoins yeah the pesos. I did not know about the tax part. I smell a video coming on lol. Thanks.
Im a new stacker. Started in January with 10 Silver kangaroo coins. And just bought a 10 gram Valcambi bar. Am i starting out on the right foot
What if you come across an ad for gold coins somewhere, how would you test them to make sure ur not getting screwed over?
That's tough. You could do some googling to see if there are any bad reviews. There are plenty of reputable online sellers I list on this channel, I wouldn't go off an ad.
Thank you🩷
I’m new bro thanks for the content
Appreciate you stopping by! Happy to help if I can.
New stacker as of last week… I now have the fever 😂
Welcome and congrats on starting your stacking journey!
