Tristan you are among the best I have watched and listened to…I second all the wonderful comments already posted! Thank you for your enthusiasm and generosity to the reading and literature loving community…a new video from you makes my day/week! ❤️
Last part of my research characteristics of classical literature are universal themes , unusual and interesting plot or setting, well developed characters. Classical literature is important because promotes language skills. For example classical book pride and prejudice by Jane Austen and Jane Eyre by Charlotte bronte . The main difference between classical and modern literature is classical literature often highlights themes and heart of story , while modern fiction often highlights of plot and action of story . Study of classical literature called classics or classical antiquity. It’s hard to read classics because writing style , historical setting, narrative structures, symbolism . Thank you for giving us chance to read learn new information improve our English as well. Iam so sorry to be little long but reading and writing both are great ways to improve our English as none native speakers. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .
thank you so much! not everyone had great literature teachers at school and imo having a guidance figure is key to approach certain texts! doing this free of charge is wonderful, such an important contribution to the community ❤️
This is amazing. Your talks are the most enlightening and enthusiastic on all of booktube. I will share this free online course for classic literature with others.
Thank you, Tristan! I wish I was in a position to help financially support. Alas, I am broke these days. But I appreciate your videos and thank you for all your work.
You're welcome, Yesica😀 Don't worry about financial support, I'm happy to share with fellow book lovers. If you share this video with others, that would help immensely 😀❤️
You are the best 😊 I love all your videos and your will definitely be watching these again. And yes I was one who skipped iambic pentameter video but I will not miss it again.
Your enthusiasm for the classics is contagious and has helped to influence the rekindling of my joy of reading. I've watched a few of these videos and will enjoy watching the remainder. Thank you for putting them together
This is awesome, Tristan! Thank you so much for your generous free course! I can’t wait to get started. I appreciate how thoughtful, articulate and enthusiastic you are about literature.
This is fantastic! I am a member of your Patreon group. You are doing so much work. Thank you. I may have not read every single book recommend on Patreon but I have learned so much from you.
How are you doing mr Tristan . Iam Arabic lady subscriber to several British and American RUclips channels. Thank you for your wonderful cultural channel. We are as foreigners subscribers as overseas students want to increase our cultural level improve our English language as well and literature lovers too. Iam subscriber to dr Octavia Cox channel she is British university professor in classical literature. Most of her channel videos about Jane Austen. I looked up for definition of classical literature is Ancient Greece and Rome . The term usually spelled classical and also used for literature of any language of period notable for excellence and enduring quality of literary works . Works of homer , Ovid , Sophocles are all examples of classical literature. Classical term isn’t just limited to novels , it’s can be also included epic , fantasy , lyric , tragedy, comedy , pastoral , other form of writing.
I think this is a bit of a nuance of the English language. CLASSICAL literature is not necessarily the same as the CLASSICS. The term "Classics" is a bit subjective. I often advise people to define what this means to them. For example, some create a list of their top 10 Classics. For some, it is anything before 1900 BCE; for others it is over 100 years old; for others, only 50 years old.
Your enthusiasm for great literature has certainly rekindled my own. I am happy to support your work through Patreon, and I must admit I'm a bit of an Ebenezer in that department😂, so ...high marks indeed. Thank you.
Your videos both on RUclips and Patreon are so inspiring! This is a lovely compilation! I have watched all these videos previously, and I am looking forward to watching them again while taking notes!
What a lovely early Christmas treat! Thank you for all that you do with this channel Tristan; it's much appreciated. This video series will be saved and savoured by me over the next couple of months, with the colder weather, shorter days, and longer nights, all making for the perfect seasonal vibe. 💙
I love this idea. I’ve listened to some of your lectures but will revisit those and read the rest. Will also share this with my bookish friends. Your Patrion account is great value and I’m happy to support you. Keep up the great work.
This is FANTASTIC! I am teaching 8th graders in a Classical Program next year and finding this is so timely! Will be sharing with the parents of my students. ❤❤❤
Thnx for this wonderful playlist l. But I was wondering if you could make more videos regarding metre and prosody. For instance if you are reading the iliad translated by Alexander pope should you read it with iambic pentameter or dactylic hexameter as was in the original Greek. Please kindly respond
I love your passion for literature. I will definitely be watching this series. Thanks for taking the time to produce something that will help us to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of classic literature. I've wanted to tackle Don Quixote for so long now, but have felt so daunted by it.
I really love your videos, because you make classic literature so approachable and also because you constantly remind me of the book's I have loved and should revisit. For various reasons I could not go on to higher education back in the 1950s (many couldn't) but when I layer met those who had they all said I was more widely read than they were. I think this shows that if you read sufficiently widely you will have continuing and lifelong benefit.
Thank you for putting together a free course, I'm excited to delve in! I'm not new to classic literature but there is still so much that I haven't read.
This is great. I'm going to start these after World War November... although, it will probably take me an extra month to finish the stack of books I got for that. 😊
I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel….your enthusiasm is so infectious. I wish I could have you over for dinner.
