A a Nigerian man myself, I'm VERY proud of a show like this was made to show introduce Nigerian culture (and African culture in general). I hope this paves the way for more African cartoons outside the country. After all, we deserve to know about African culture too.
This is exactly how it needs to be done. To truly capture the beauty and richness of African culture, we need stories written by and directed by African creatives. I haven't watched this show yet, but based on the trailers and promotional clips I've seen, it looks really promising and I can't wait to watch it. That callout about "kicking Disney's ass" was actually a wake up call. And I am not surprised that Disney was quick to jump on board with this project. If Disney wants to remain relevant, they better start working harder to provide proper stories centred around black and African culture in a respectful and accurate way. Otherwise other studios really are going to kick their ass. I am already seeing better stories and shows that weren't produced by Disney and I love it! I am wishing Kugali nothing but success for their future projects. 🙏🏾
That's how it needs to be done. African creatives need to tell their stories their way and hold 100% of the creative power. That's the only way we will see more of Africa's true, rich culture in mainstream media. I love afro-futuristism because there is so much truth to it.
I love the movie... The characters did so well... I love seeing olabode's scenes, he nailed it😂... Kudos to tola. She did a great job❤🎉
I am so proud of you guys. Wonderful way to show the world real African culture. I didn’t get to witness this growing up but now so many kids will.
