The last time I was there was in 2010. I was just a kid. My fam was on a road trip from Nairobi -nakuru - kericho - kisumu - kisii - bomet - narok - Mai mahiu and back to Nairobi
Beautiful scenery, keep up the good work.
Thank you, I will
When masaai herders were doing their pastoralisim from narok, suswa towards the central regions in 1887 they got a challenge climbing the escarpment and named the are mei meyu meaning impossible coz the area was impassable and years later when kikuyus came to the area and were told the name they pronounced it as mai mahiu
Great insight
Africa is paradise blessed by God
I have been in maaimahiu town for 3yrs but also sand business is also the booming business in maaimahiu
True, I have seen that too

Maai Mahiu is a town in Kenya's Nakuru County. The name means "hot water" in native Kikuyu, but another derivative could be "me'imayu", meaning impassable in Maasai.
This I heard on Kameme Radio this AM and at a point of interest I googled and found this. So the original name was in maasai but then wevas kikuyus we know how to name according to our understanding 😅
Interesting

No hot springs, mai mahiu is derived from a maa word 'meimayiu', meaning impassable. From the difficulty during old days to scale the steep escapement
Wow, great insight!
Good narration, keep it up brother.
Thanks bro

Maai Mahiu is a town in Kenya's Nakuru County. The name means "hot water" in native Kikuyu, but another derivative could be "me'imayu", meaning impassable in Maasai.
This is on Google. We as kikuyus knows how to call things according to our prronounsation to make it easy. 😅
lol makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the info
Why end at Nairekia Engare junction,? Beautiful scenery at the escarpment.
Check out the other videos from our channel to see the continuation, they are there.

Good
Thanks
This is wicked region 😮😮😮😮
Between Mahi mahiu ( hot water by kikuyu) and not accessible/ passable translation from maasai ), who do you think named the place. For me i can say Maasai because the place is totally inaccessible because of hills.
The Maasai version makes sense too. Thanks for the heads up
Do the area have two sgr railway crossing
2 or 3
Maai mahiu was derived from a masai name "mei meyu" ,meaning imposible to pass due to the escarpments
Thank you for the insight
Interesting.
Maaĩ Mahiũ is a straight Gĩkũyũ word meaning hot water. There are hot springs on Kijabe Hill and on the floor of the Rift Valley where the town I situated.

I can't understand why you are saying it is the smallest church in the world, how and it is not in the history ☹️
🔥
Watching from.saudi.aribia her ✋
Thanks for watching
True
Waaa
After passing that church. You get a clear boundary which only shrubs grow no tall tree. Marked by our ancestors olonana after the missionary gave him wine and become drunk
Really, that's very interesting. It seems the real history is unwritten
I highly doubt that it is the smallest church in the world. However your narration on this journey is very very good.
😂it's the smallest in the world inachukua 6 people only
I still beg to differ. The smallest church in the world is Castillo De Colomares that measures 1.96m2.
If you sought can you tell us which other small catholic church that you know
I have already.
The smallest church in the world is in West Virginia, USA . This one is the smallest in Africa
this is survival

Wow, in the 70s? Hio ni kali
Mahimahiu initially mean endikir nemeimaiu a maasai name meaning a steep slope. Kikuyu cut it short.
That's very interesting. Thank you
The smallest italian based faith church. They also have a grave site in mathari kenya but we have none in italy. Legacy of colonialism
very nice reminds me of my travels to Narok very smooth.
Thank you
Mai mahiu is generally from a maasai name meaning impassible, the escarpment was not easy to be passed.
Thanks for the heads up, it makes sense
Hot springs in Kikuyu as you said.

Point of correction, this is Maasai land well known that the escapment was impassable. So the maasai called the Meimayu'impassable;but kikuyu'smaimahiu intead of Meimayu.
I see, Thanks for the info
